If someone was going to give me a puppy as a gift, I would want to (a) choose it, and (b) name it. It seems kind of strange (and I would add "off about") when a person hands someone else a new puppy that they themself picked out, and then informs the recipient of the name the giver has already chosen for someone else's pet. It takes part of the joy and fun out of the entire process.
These video are of course adorable. But as someone who works in animal rescue, please PLEASE do not gift someone a puppy. A puppy is a HUGE commitment and a ton of work. Taking on a puppy is a decision a person needs to make for themselves. So many gifted puppies end up abandoned in animal shelters. Some of these are parents giving puppies to their children, and of course that's different because the parents are taking on the responsibility, but do NOT gift a puppy to someone you don't live with or aren't willing to take responsibility for yourself.
Thank you - my 1st thought. And even if someone talks about "how nice it would be to get a puppy" - I would prefer an Italian greyhound over a bernese 🤷🏻♀️ There is a difference between a kuvacz and a teckel... Also a present for christmas is not some good idea - even if parents buy a Pet for their children. Because it's christmas time, everything is a little bit different... Wait until new year or buy the Pet in november. Oh, and never buy from a puppy mill! Go to your local shelter or - if you really want a puppy - ask a breeder with one or two different breeds. Wath how the dogs live (and how they are integrated in the family). When you see the Mother acting normal with her humans and her puppies, this is a big thumbs up 👍🏻
My father and sister tried to gift me goldfish and I didn't even have a tank or anything, as a birthday present. I said no I don't want them why didn't you ask me first etc. etc. and they had to take them with them because I refused to. I don't know how to take care of fish. And I've always had cats. I might've even had a cat at the time and I was sharing a Victorian flat in SF with roommates. I do not know what they were thinking.
I enjoyed this, but don't give a puppy as a gift unless you live there and plan to love it for the rest of your life (in case the other person doesn't care for it). It's like giving someone a baby and walking away.
and now with an explosion of dogs being abandoned and given up to shelters, i have to wonder how many puppies were given during the pandemic and then discarded? let us hope the love shown for these babies continues on. ❤

Bisogna stargli dietro.
unfortunately, the people should try not to scream when they greet the puppies. they would be a bit bewildered anyway. would be best to have calm and loving introduction to their new life. animals don’t really like a lot of raucous noise.
Finally! I can make a comment! Lovely! I love when People cry with joy. It reminds me of a gift I received, from the best friend I ever had. Both are gone now, but I can remember, and tho it makes me sad, I can feel the love.
Yes, don’t gift a dog, especially to a girl/boy friend. It’s a decision someone should make single or in a family situation. There not just pets there an addition to the family, a member until there dying day.❤❤❤❤❤
Although I do agree, most of the adults getting another adult a pet is because the person getting the animal has been wanting one for years. It wasn’t a quick decision.
I have always grown up with rescue dogs, even in the 60’s my parents got rescues. My son got his own dog (we already had a beautiful boy that we shared) when he was 6, a beautiful red Australian kelpie named Rusty, who knew that he was my son’s dog, slept with him and protected him. Having a dog, or any pet, teaches children how to respect, care and have compassion for animals. I have volunteered with animal rescue and at one stage we had 5 little darlings living with us and it was my idea of heaven. All gone now, leaving massive holes in my heart that will not heal until I see them again. My son is also an animal lover, he is extremely placid but told me that he would never stand by and witness anyone hurt an animal, he would physically get in their face and even hurt them if he had to, to protect an animal.

I choose to purchase from a breeder. When you get an animal from a rescue group or humane society, they literally know nothing about it. The dog could be aggressive under certain condition, it could have neurological problems, you just never know what might be wrong. Whereas you buy from a breeder and they know the animal. They know the parents of the animal you're wanting. They can tell you all about their breeding history. I just prefer that.

Lots of fun to watch, but puppies as Christmas presents result in so many dogs in shelters it is alarming. Not to say that it should not happen because sometimes the timing works out that way but to just show up and hand someone a dog on Christmas without them participating is NOT something any reputable breeder will be party to. Responsible breeders want to meet the new owner and ask a bunch of questions to verify the puppy is going to a good home. Most will not without meeting the new owner several times and watching them with the litter so they can help pick out the puppy with the right temperament and drives for the intended owner. If they do not do this, you are dealing with a puppy mill and should run as fast as you can.
