The sad thing is the fact that he loses nearly everything. He loses Maya. Pearls, Edgeworth, Mia, Larry, and even quit his own job. I'm surprised he doesn't just end it all.
This is like the worst bad ending in history. He tried to delay the trial and save Maya, only to still have an innocent person declared guilty and a criminal declared not guilty, all the while knowing that it was his fault. Only if you present the video tape to de Killer when the judge asks you who you want to present evidence to, and what evidence. The tape contained footage that Engarde recorded of de Killer murdering Corrida, which he planned to use as potential blackmail. De Killer considers this to be a betrayal of trust and vows to make Engarde his next victim. It's at that point that the judge asks how you plead, and you can say either 'guilty' or 'not guilty', though both result in Engarde scratching his face, followed by the good ending.

The "miracle" never happen 😔😔 😔 😔 😔 😔 😔😔😔
Wait, I thought that 'Not Guilty' would lead to Matt pleading for a guilty verdict.
I find you everywhere...
the miracle never happen 😔🔫😩😰😖🥺😿😭😭🤯😾😞😖
I didn't even know there was a bad ending... thankfully I didn't get it.

Holy shit! Didn't know this existed! Didn't even know this series had bad endings at all! My fucking heart! Especially with that top comment "Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright chooses death."
Yowtch! I just recently watched those episodes of the anime, so this hits strong! Poor Maya must be distraught!
And that's how Phoenix became Atheist...
How atmosphere ruining is it that in arguably the saddest part of any video game a spelling mistake happens at the saddest part. I'm 99% sure the localizers were just fucking with us.
That is what I call it messed up.
Girl 1: He didn't cry at Titanic, I can't believe him.
Girl 2: do men even have feelings?
Men:
And the walkthrough i was using told me to do the bad ending first... im glad i didnt follow it in that last part!
The worst part is the confetti and cheering. So jarring.
did they keep "the miracle never happen" in the 3ds trilogy
Thundermodus no );
They did
"I'm afraid I cannot allow the defense to continue"
*where the fuck is the options button*
BUt the miracle.......................................
never happen...
Me: gets a not guilty verdict
Also me: why are you booing me? I’m right
tHE MIRACLE NEVER HAPPEN
A single loss ruins his career
I agree with Pheonix... A miracle never happen....
Joe Mumford Because a miracle doesn't exist.
***** You mean "because a miracles doesn't exist"
Braden Vanmeter You mean, "because miracles don't exist."
robertsfunny1995 it's a joke as a result of the typo in the ending.
+MegamanNG or do you mean "americal" dosen't exist
It truly...never happen.
Doesn't it seem a bit ironic how there is confetti dropping even though the choice leads to the bad ending?
Not particularly.
Matt didn't take the life of Corrida. Shelly did, but apparently that matters less than who requested the hit? ...yeaaaah, riiiiight.
Dumb case.
THE MIRACLE NEVER HAPPEN
This isn't the "canon" ending, correct? This is just the game making you feel bad for fucking up, if I recall. And Phoenix never seeing Maya again is was to fucking depressing, could someone explain why he never sees her to me? Thanks in advance
Shelly De Killer kidnapped Maya, but I'm pretty sure Phoenix does see her again because he said "De Killer is a man of hus word, so I'm sure he released her as promised." Shelly said he'd only return Maya if Matt got the not-guilty verdict.
+Brian Villarruel Just before that he LITERALLY said "I never saw Maya again."
DeMat That's the weird part though, if she was supposed released by Shelly, why did he never see her?
DeMat I'm guessing he lied to him?
Brian Villarruel Maybe Phoenix was scared DeKiller would go after him because of being too involved in the case and he wanted her to be safe, so he told her to stay at Kurain and never return.
This ending was the most saddest I've seen, when you try so hard to get a guilty verdict even when you're playing the lawyer role R.I.P our attorneys
