I feel your pain in the first game. That was me chilling at the citadel in my javelin, got legged pretty early on and lost half my weapons, with everyone else ignoring the circle all I could do was hold the circle and give some ams cover. Although I did bravely charge out with you when you called for help with the Timby, firing my last 2 remaining lasers, jumping up and down for dear life, then bravely died very soon after you - ah, good times
Wonder how many games it took for a solo player at tier 1 to have a nice game with a lore-friendly, realistic build like this one with all the peeking/pop tarting/one shot power builds that have nothing to do with battletech...
Well Baradul, hats off to you man!! I can literally type in a mech name in your YT search and I'm almost guaranteed a neat build to look at for ideas, its impressive to see 1400+ mech builds in one channel man! ❤
Ah my second favourite IS mech (Catapult still wins) in one of my favourite loadouts! "I have an AC20. Your argument is invalid" :D Urbie still has a special place though, can be improved in so many ways from stock but is missing the ECM of some later variants (or was last time I played. I need to reinstall and check). I need a ninja Urbie. For reasons.
Instead heat sink better to instal laser ams, heat is not a problem in this mech and you have some lrm-s def for yourself and team . Just srtip some armor from legs.
@The guy who deleted his comment, He has a 250 Engine which can fit all 10 Engine heatsinks. These are your weightless HS that must be placed and every -25 Rating fits one less heatsink in the engine (e.g. 225-245 has to place 1 in the body). Every +25 can fit an additional Weighted Heatsink in the engine (e.g. 275-295 can fit 11 in the engine for 1 ton).
Uhm... just a thoWught, and an unsupported one at that... but I suspect that AC20 projectiles actually have width. Which means that snapshots close unto ANYTHING means the shot will detonate on that, and not target. That would be why the AC20 shots mostly missed, but lasers, having no width, did hit.
Your vision is already obscured by the AC 20, why put the garbage can? And yeah, I am the guy who whined about the beer mugs ages ago. On the bright side, at least you didn't have a giant banner! Still loving my daily dose. Thanks!!!!!!
@@level12fighter anytime you have quirks you should use the skill tree to buff them especially when it's on your main weapon. Full laser duration percent in the skill tree for IS med lasers is .09 seconds or so saved. Not worth it in my opinion.
I would strip the left arm down to 5 armor, take out the left arm med laser, take out the heat sink and add a TC1 to the right arm, with the remaining tonnage to a bigger engine. Get all the velocity and cooldown nodes and take as much of the auxiliary tree as possible, UAV's and Arty strikes.
Often I dream of firing MWO up and buying myself an AC20 Hunchback, but then I remember just how cheesy the meta is and how pitiful the early IS mechs are compared to post-invasion and clantech bullchit. In my short career, the only thing I was vaguely successful with was a Marauder with snub PPCs and an AC20; paring that down to essentially just the AC20 and a lot less armor just because I like the mech sounds like a route to frustration. Then I just go back to being sad, loop repeatedly.
I hate light engine in that thing, left side is made of paper, and after debuffs for loosing 1/3 of your engine you can overheat JUST by shooting ac 20
I never understood, why are all of mechwarrior onlines weapons inferior to the 20th century weapons we have now? We have better missiles and overall we have weapons equal or better than most of the other weapons they have with only a few exceptions. My biggest complaint,. why do the gauss rifles have a range not measured in tens of miles instead of under half a mile? At the speed a gauss rifle projectile is fired, it should travel at least ten to twenty miles.
I always thought because it's all from the battletech universe rather than ours. I don't know much about it so maybe I'm completely wrong but my assumption is that they just didn't have the same wars or make the same advancements as we did here on earth. (In reality many things are simply for balance reasons, obviously. 😅)
@@ix8750 ...i consider it poor writing and stats from people that know nothing about real military weapons and equipment. I say this because I am ex military and can tell you that their tech in many areas sucks compared to ours now. Not to mention that mechs like that would cost a major amount, way too much in comparison with more conventional weapons.
@@evilspoon5280 the answer is quite simple: Battletech started as a board game and you don't want your units to be able to shoot across the table and kill each other from turn 1. You want the game to be interesting so you limit both the range and power of the weapons so that players have to maneuver their forces and have time to correct some mistakes and in the end of the day have long and entertaining game. Later writers had to justify that limited ranges and relatively low killing power of "high-tech" weapons in novels with some stupid reasons but the real reason is just that that stats worked good for the board game.
You can also consider that countermeasures and jamming as well as armor plating are so advanced that any long range attacks will do nothing as well as without further sensor packages that will add weight it means things are back to manual targeting unless you can break through the "noise".
@@wolfgangjr74 you can’t jam good old optical rangefinder or a LIDAR, and they are more than enough to let you shoot targets at any range (navies used optical rangefinders long before radars were invented).
Pillar: I'm about to end this man's whole career
Gah for real lol I think he felt he had to use that video because there are some good lessons to be learned.

Aha, but you see a pillar is not a mech! Checkmate, you buffoon!
"force of nature" 🤣

Asking the real question.
A classic build! Love it. I've been playing the HBKIIC(0) with the 2xUAC20s as well. Loving them Hunchies again!! Thanks, Bara!
Finally, AC20s are no longer obsolete compared to snubs
The 4G and that AC20 got me into this game.
The trashcan cockpit item is appropriate for all the missed AC 20 shots! :P
Sees bara upload a build I saw him run a few days back.
*Chuckles*
I'm in danger!
Well Baradul, hats off to you man!! I can literally type in a mech name in your YT search and I'm almost guaranteed a neat build to look at for ideas, its impressive to see 1400+ mech builds in one channel man! ❤
Given your heat management here, I'd consider swapping to ERMLs to give you a little extra punch at range
"Thats a stealth Atlas"
*Aggressive Bavarian Polka intensifies*
the hunch is back ...
HUNCHBACK FOR LIFE!!!! My fave mech.
Why the mechs use the armour they do, when apparantly concrete would make them invulnerable.
Canyon Network looks great now! Glad to see some work being done on maps to freshen the game up.
When I played competitively some years ago, I was a hunchie main. Boomstick.
Been running this build for years. One of my staple Mechs. But it's a lot smoother to run now.
You'd think that after three AC 20 hits the pillar would have melted. Alas.
It's a Star League pillar, very stronk...
Now thats an OG mech!

ah coring an assault mech, One of my favorite pastimes
In hundreds of hours I didn't catch on about the meaning of that symbol at 6:00. Ofc, its low signal on allied mechs.
back in the day this build was a monster
I love the hunchback every one of them.

Ah the good ol' 4G with its iconic giant crit magnet.
That's some stormtrooper accuracy
Hunchback 4j is pretty fun without lrms as well. Also doesnt have a giant box
HBK-4G, a true classic !

Classic hunchy. I love it!
That first game tho! I was soooo frustrated just watching! Lol
A true classic
You had velocity and range nodes still locked and you chose laser duration for your backup energy that already has decent duration?
The 4G already has some huge buffs for projectile velocity. I think its 25%

Whats annoying is the power gap between IS hunch and the 2c.. its like why would you even bother with the IS
"Killed by low self esteem" lol
Laser duration node could be invested in something else in my opinion.
I think if you had a shot counter it would show 2/3rds missed :(
you See enemy. Enemy is death.
Bara, what's the best way to donate to you? Twitch, patreon, pay-pal?
This is how everyone feels when they play.
I wonder if they will ever make a flying trash can like in rogue tech. ^.^
Missile Hunchback next BARA!!! HBK-4J LRM or MRM... Just sayin...
hast auch ein tutorial?

Attempt number 4! Please play the light gauss stealth thanatos with jump jets!
That first match was painful to watch, holy shit.
Hunchback still needs Jump Jets...
The Potato was strong in your first Team.
stealth atlas..... well then if that's not an oxymoron....
Classic.
i am simple man: see Hunchback - press like
4x light gauss kodiak? Why? It runs 4 standards well.
I want to like the hunchbacks, but they are a ton can. There are lighter mechs like the assassins that can take way more damage.
Classic

Why would a pilot choose this mech over the IIC?
Bara!? It's called AIMING!
Bara has lost his shooting skillz from playing all those nubby LRM builds.
