I met Coach Tark in Las Vegas at a mall and got his autograph. I live in Denver and was around 13 when the Runnin Rebels won the title here. Still the biggest blowout in NCAA championship history, UNLV 103 DUKE 73. 🏆
Man it is funny that there are so many things I thought I came up with on my own such Air Force, which I learned later is just "Palms Coverage" in football. While growing up watching UNLV I learned Jerry's D and when I started coaching it many years later, I thought I was the only one who called it Tark. I run a 1-2-2 zone called 12 series where I run traditional 1-2-2, Rebel, which variation # 2 of 12, and Tark, which is variation #3 of 12. Rebel is designed to "R"ob the offense, while Tark is designed to "T"rap the offense. Until this very moment, every time I say I run what I call Tark, NOBODY knows what i'm talking about. Coach T Hunt would.
In the words of Bob Knight, "Jerry Tarkanian is the greatest defensive coach in the history of the game of basketball. And no coach got his players to play harder for him."
Where did he say he was the Coach? Fresno State? Damn how long ago was THIS. And where is the John Chaney Amoeba video? I am totally saving this to try to teach it to my team someday. Or at least to know it's strengths and weaknesses to try and beat it someday.
@@felimpay WOW. So after he was at UNLV. I figured it was more of a job he got on his way UP rather than a job he got on his way DOWN. That also gives me a little more respect for Fresno State than I had. They get some good Coaches.

Such a great coach. The best in terms of defensive fundamentals.
Boyd Grant ran this when he was at Fresno!

I run a 1-3-1 and we call it Rebels. Very Tark inspired.
