“Safety on the School Bus” is a black-and-white PSA-style film from 1951. This short educational film, which was sponsored by Superior Coach Corporation of Lima, Ohio, aims to educate America’s bus riding students on the proper safety guidelines of riding the school bus. A collaboration between Young America Films and Centron Corporation, this film features some reenactment footage of school-aged students riding on a school bus in a quiet country town and also features shots of the bus’ exterior and interior details.
Centron Corporation was a leading industrial and educational film production company, specializing in classroom and corporate 16mm films and VHS videocassettes. Although a slightly smaller company than its contemporaries, it was nonetheless very successful from the late 1940s through the early 1990s.

FWIW, my teacher took a knife away from me in about 1963. She said I could get it back after school. It was just a 4" toad sticker (i.e. smallish pocket knife), not a switch blade.

Someone reported my for having a switchblade in school. It was a comb. Teacher laughed it off. But yes, we carried knives, even the girls, I mean, especially the girls. I'm a product of the 70's and 80's. Most of the guys had gun racks and shotguns in every pickup in the parking lot. I felt a lot safer than today! The "gun control" nuts cancelled the NRA Firearms safety program, shop class, and "drivers ed" mu Sophomore year. I always thought that was a really dumb idea and here we are in 2023, where no one knows how to drive and kids shoot-up schools, churches, shopping centers, and gay bars. Where the heck are the parents of these lunatics? My parents and grandparents walked to school uphill both ways. There was no horse ride! Me and my sister walked to school in every kind of weather! Twice I think I rode the school bus, and we took the bus for after school events and field trips.

And that metal bar on back of seat was head high for little kids, even in the 70's. We had a driver that would slam on the breaks so the kids would hit there head on that bar when they got noisy, which left them crying. I was in kindergarten and I reported the nut driver.

This footage is a good example for the South Korean these days. Drivers are really anxious, and uncomfortable all the time sitting behind wheel, and afraid of getting fired for prejudice by the employer and passengers. Bus driver is neither a servant nor robot. Tough regulations should be applied to passengers regardless of age. I hit smashed disorderly high schoolers inside bus and was charged fine for assault once. Anyway school bus driver is not suitable for 20s, 30s, 40s. Most school drivers are mid-50s.
