They call it Soul Red Metallic for a reason. You must leave a piece of your soul in every paint job to get it correct. Definitely Not for the faint of heart or amateur. Beautiful work.
Incredible work man. As an owner with this exact paint I am scared shitless of damage because there aren't enough people like yourself with this attention to detail.
As a Miata owner, with many friends with Soul Red, the matching of paint after collision work has been very “hit or miss” . You seem to have a process that works! That outcome looks fabulous! I’ll be sure to send a link to the Miata community!
....I STARE at that color when I see it parked somewhere...the most glorious red on the market so deep that if you don't hold onto the ground you'll fall into it!!!
Casually interested in auto paint but never gone past rattle cans (YET!). I’ve always loved that Mazda red (not the car) and wondered what was up with that paint. Now I know! Thoroughly enjoyed the process, skill, and extra steps. Subscribed and plan to watch more vids!
Painted my 2000 s10 race truck this color used matrix mpb lv with Ag-40 euro clear...my father in law has been painting since the early 80s and it kicked our ass... super tricky color. Walked out the entire truck like a candy paint job.and it still acted funny. Over all great paint job but completely different look then the mazda cars look.
Excellent job! The 2 happiest days of my life were the day my wife bought a Mazda with 46V and the day I sold it! I read after I got rid of it that Mazda had some paint issues with it chipping, not sure if that is true but the hood was so full of rock chips that I almost repainted the front clip.
They're beautiful, but unfortunately you give up some durability with pretty much any 3-stage paint. That includes pearl whites. They're a little easier to chip and more likely to fade if it's a color in the red family. Also, Im sorry to say your wife may be a tailgater. That's the most common reason for excessive rock chips in the front bumper and hood. Driving too close to veihcles in front of you. Especially semi trucks. No offense, just relaying the facts. Im sure your wife is a lovely person.
@@edjackson4389tailgating or not the rock chips are inevitable. I own a 22 MX-5, it’s my daily and being from Colorado means a ton of elevation changes. I swear I will be in the far right lane going the speed limit and a semi 100 feet a way in the far left will throw a random rock chip on my hood with the winding roads like I-70 and I-76 here. Throw that in with so much traffic and everyone blowing by you going 90. 15k miles in and I’ll probably have to get a respray soon if I don’t end up wrapping it instead
We had an MX-5 in Soul Red. Magnificent color. I was always afraid that it would get damaged and need a repaint because I KNEW it would be almost impossible to get it back to factory perfection.
I was very happy that Brian from Paint Society did a video where he kind of helped a little on the red Ferrari project where He introduced you to his people on his channel. I was happy seeing the work that you did on that and seeing some of the custom work you’re doing like on this car. I must say you’re a fabulous painter and really take pride in your work. I really respect that!
Great work bro! Autobody painter of 24yrs here PPG for life! Envirobase is great product no complaints its great for collision work. I still go back to dbc for overall jobs . Keep up great work brother!
Always looking great man. Back to the days when this color first launch, its a night mare to spray. In our paint system, its not tinted clear for the candy, its just binder with concentrate red which makes it alittle easier to spray. But man, u do a great job with any paint system. 👍👍. Btw, appreciate if you can teach how to do a soft edge masking on your knees. I tried alot of times and it just didn't turn out straight enough the edge 😅
i would never buy this color. i've heard for some accidents, insurance will total the car- the paint is that expensive and difficult to correctly lay down. this thing had a ding on 1/4 of the door, and half of the car ending up getting painted !
this was new to me. the candy is in the clear. always was in the belief that candy was layed after a base and then clear..... life is too short to learn new stuff :D
Cool video buddy on our system it’s the normal base then tinted mid coat then clear coat havnt don’t one for a few years now but the first one I did was pretty exciting to do.people say how scary that copper base looks on the normal candy panels lol 😂 great tips for us all buddy and quality as usual 👍👍👍
I'm curious why there's a difference between ppg and Sherwin on this color. My system calls for a black sealer. And use the black sealer and number of base coats to determine how dark you color will be. And I am definitely a fan of the darkest 46v. I painted my Abarth this color when 46v first came out. It looks great but I added a little copper over my base, just a drop coat. Unfortunately it made it brighter, and I regret it, although it does looks amazing. As a custom painter I like to make my cars have that unique color. My dream job besides painting custom cars custom colors and designs would be to create colors for manufacturers that want to venture into flashy colors.

Absolutely beautiful job Kandy Man! I have a soul red mazda, and as nice as it is, I wouldn't get it again, chips too easy. Just today a car in front of me kicked up road debris and it hit my pass door and chipped it. I'm not happy.
Beautiful colour and a beautiful finish on the 46V Kandy Man you make it look so easy, I've done this colour once and it came out fine but for some reason the mid coat isn't a true candy in my scheme but it's a basecoat binder with a couple of transparent tinters to get the candy effect, came out looking nice though👌🙏👍John UK
