    I put a Booster Plug on my T120 and the the throttle response measurably improved. The snatchiness is gone. The stalling is gone. The popping is gone. No change in mileage. There are plenty of critics out there. To each his own. I don't care. It works. It's affordable. It's easy to install. I'm not a one-off case. There are plenty of others who'll agree.

    I installed this on my Speed Twin. I let the bike idle for 15 minutes after the install. After about 11 minutes, the idle went back to correct RPMs. No noticeable change during last 4 minutes, but I let it do the time, as I was instructed. Still have stock exhaust. Now, the snatchyness is gone. No popping. Noticeable improvement in performance and throttle response below 3500 RPM. Above that, no noticeable change. Any difference in mileage is so small it’s not noticeable. I do have the little red throttle spacers, but had them prior to the Booster Plug. Bike is more fun to ride now.

      Just ordered booster plug for my Thruxton 1200 , my problem is its runs good when cold / warming up but soon as up to running temp lots of popping snatchy unpredictable throttle below 2500 unreliable idle "hoping this sorts it "

      Browsing through comments about the Booster Plug on UA-cam, the sentiment seems mostly positive. It's so frustrating we have to do this on $10k+ bikes.

    I'm not trying to be overly critical and I appreciate videos like this where a guy takes the time to share his good results. I bought the Booster plug with an open mind and somewhat high expectations, knowing as well that if I didn't like it I could always unplug it. I received to today, took it for a test ride and I honestly have to say that I was not overly impressed. The backfiring and the popping actually increased. Yes the snatchiness was gone (as claimed by the company and customer testimonials) but acceleration was noticeably not as strong or sharp. The ambient temperature was around 58 F. It was only my first ride so perhaps I need to give it some time but my initial impressions were not very impressive and a bit of a let down.
    We'll see.
    Thanks for the video and I'd be curious to know what your long term experience is with the Booster plug and if you're still running it?

    • @jvalequin
      @jvalequin  2 роки тому +2

      Definitely still running it on the T120. I would suggest trying the ECU reset and see if that will sort out any lingering issues? Let us know what you find out!

      @@jvalequin
      Tried the ECU reset as well as trying to get accustomed to the BoosterPlug powerband.
      I just have to say that I'm still not impressed. I came home, unplugged the BP, took it for a spin and felt like I had my bike back. I dunno it just felt like the BP took the Hooligan out of the bike's performance. The great thing about the stock-powercurve is that it can be ridden sedately and with civility or it the Hooligan can be pulled out of the powercurve. With the BP it just seems flat somehow. Yes, the snatchiness was a bit annoying sometimes but maybe it gave it some character. That said, I'm sure the BP is fine for some folks and I say more power to them. To each their own.
      I think I'll have my mechanic dyno tune it and see how that goes.
      Thanks for getting back to me and keep the videos coming!

    I am bewildered as to how Triumph actually sell any of these bikes. I owned a Speed twin (2019) and it was virtually unrideable! The bike looks great, build quality is good and it sounds fantastic but there's no getting away from the fact that they all leave the factory with this major trait, and it totally ruins the ownership experience. Time folk started calling Triumph out on this instead of trying to find aftermarket remedies. Suffice to say my Speed Twin lasted about 10 months before I off loaded it. Glad to see the back of it. So many other good retro style bikes out there. Don't waste your time with this one!!! Sorry if I am upsetting any Triumph owners as that is not my intention. Triumph need to realise they are ripping people off with below standard products.

      @ripmax333 Рік тому

      I have a 2016 street twin and so far I had your opposite experience, I agree with you on the build quality but for me I really never had any problems riding this bike, its smooth, very predictable and I can easily recommend it as a first big bike. The center of gravity is also very low making it surprisingly easy filtering traffic.

    Fitting to my Thruxton 1200 soon , at the moment its snatchy as hell below about 2000 rpm low rpm throttle response is erratic , idle erratic , but only when up to running temp , bike is fine when cold or warming up

    Most of the time, the Booster Plug makes the off idle area better, but you lose power higher up in the rev range. if the motor isn't fueled right, just get an ECU flash or tune. Just adding fuel everywhere, like this product does, is a poor solution. I see dyno chart after dyno chart showing that the Booster Plug makes the bike lose HP and Tq. That's why it "feels smoother"...

    Its not a snorkel, its a temp sensing probe, the snorkel is what it goes into, your air intake. You would get much better results if you actually purchase a Obd2 bluetooth scanner and run Tune ECU to actually reset Adaptation. This starts everything over from the baseline.

      At this stage I've done the decat, booster plug, and K&N filter. I have to say, everything is properly sorted now, the bike is an absolute dream. Your mileage may vary, but I suspect you'll notice a considerable improvement with the Booster Plug and filter. Don't forget the ECU reset method after you change to the K&N!

    99 percent of motorcycles come from the factory running lean. I had the same problem on my yamaha fz1. I solved the problem by dialing the throttle position sensor up a tiny bit and giving the bike abit more fuel, problem solved. All modern bikes have a throttle position sensor, check your manual.

    How does this booster plug compare with getting a Power Commander V? The Power Commander V is sooo expensive and I have to then fork out even more to get someone to customize the map.
    I de-catted my 2018 T120 and put on some Vance & Hines pipes. Now the bike is running very lean, has no back pressure or engine breaking (when I flick the throttle the revs take a few seconds to come back down). I'm very worried I could damage or overheat the engine.

    • @jvalequin
      @jvalequin  5 років тому

      I don't have any experience with a power commander, I know they are not cheap! Maybe another viewer can chime in to help.

      I have a 2017 t120 black that has the Vance & Hines Triumph mufflers but also it has the Vance & Hines map that was loaded by the dealership and it turns out it runs absolutely perfect. I spoke to two different tuners and they claimed that putting a power commander into my bike would only give me approximately 2 hp at wide open throttle so it's totally not worth it. Talk to a dealer about loading that map into your bike it's supposed to be the perfect fix for lean condition and popping during deceleration. I hope this helps
