  • Here's a repotting video of this popular echeveria hybrid, Echeveria 'Perle von Nurnberg'. This needs very gritty soil. Watch the video as we switch from dry leaf propagation to water propagation when things were not working out.

I have a baby growing next to the bigger plant. I thought I was just a dead lead until I picked it up. I’m so excited. Now I have to plant it like you did so it can grow.

Echeveria, like the Perle von Nurnberg, which I have, can be tricky. They are so SENSITIVE and fussy when it comes to water! Water them too much, the leaves get translucent and shed. water them too little, they get wrinkly and fall off. The trick is guess is to find a happy medium. When I got my PVN last summer, I inadvertently overwatered it. It promptly protested and shed a few leaves. First lesson learned. Then, to punish it, I let it desiccate! In the end, I do want it to survive, so I watered it lightly and it perked back up! I had even removed a lot of the leaves, not really knowing what to do. I saved them, however, and if not too dried up, they should propagate. Patience, I've found, is key. We're in the middle of winter here in southern Louisiana, but as I look at the weather and it's 73 degrees at 5:18 P.M. presently and sunny. It's February 17! Anyhow, great video and happy growing! 😄

Thanks for sharing, it’s a lot of work though, propagating an Echeveria “Pearl of Nürnberg”, which cost just under 3$ here in Denmark 😄🌱
