Great job, drives me crazy when things refuse to work as they should 👏🏼
Patience, right?
ahhhh ..... that;s how it's done! Thanks for the quick breakdown of this radio in such detail TO!
No problem. I have to add some more tips to this video also, stay tuned as we get more time with it.
You are saving me tons of setup time! TO, really appreciate this series.
Thanks Jim!
Mine should arrive at my QTH on Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for posting these videos as it will be a huge help when I set up the radio and FT8. 73 KN3A.
Glad to help
Looks like you're figuring this new baby out. Thank you for the effort.
It's fun so far
Glad to see it working
Now I can win FT8Off!
Nice job figuring it out. 👍 you can also change the level with pulse as well as RF gain.
I tried to adjust it with alsamixer, but never saw the needle move.
Glad you’ve got it working mate
Thanks Chris!
@@temporarilyoffline that was quick I’m still watching the video. Great how you get it working on the raspberry pie
I would suggest using Fake It for split operation. That will keep only one VFO active and allow for compensating for the lower frequency response near the edges of the audio passband.
I tried out fake it and rig and both of them switched VFOs on me. I assume once there is proper rig control for the X6100 this problem will be gone.
Very good .. thanks!
Thank you too!
Thanks Steve, really appreciate all your work with the X6100. Inspired me to buy one in the recent sale. Just curious if you've done any FT8 update videos for this rig, especially in regard to the R1CBU option?
I have not yet - the latest firmware from xiegu even has WFView server built in. So I'm excited to try that put. Look for a future video soon!
I enjoy your videos. What antenna are you using when you use the Xiegu x6100 in your ham shack?
I use my dx commander for most work in my shack.
Well done Steve! Quick question, can you share a link to your Retro Computer Channel please, I can’t seem to find it.
Here you go Paddy: ua-cam.com/channels/EcsqeqMOqhDxj9D771s0eA.html
I was missing you over there!
Good to see it working on FT8! Are you using it during the next FT8-Off? lol
I probably will
Hi! I have a question out of range of the current topic. Is it possible to connect to X6100 an external monitor? It should be possible via USB-C port and it seems to me it doesn't work.
It's a USB-C connector only, it's a USB 2 device. So no video out
Whatever hair I have left after years of fighting through the Flex evolution - will now be gone thanks to Xiegu!
How are you liking the 6100 so far?
I installed the drivers, but the pc does not even see the device. Is there a setting within the radio I need to change?
Drivers? You shouldn't need any drivers other than those auto-installed. Did you plug in the right USB port? Is the radio in data mode?
I'm really struggling to use FT8 with the X6100 and MacBook. Software installed. Can't TX.
Join us over on TOADs discord and we can help out. Link I'm description!
Great video. I have my sound settings exactly as you however no output from the X6100…
Do you have the USB cable in the right port?
@@temporarilyoffline yes, cat control works; it decodes, when the X6100 transmits there is no audio/alc. I’ll keep messing with it. It works on my Windows machine but not my rPi.
Ok, at least it's not the radio, that makes the fix easier. Good hunting!
@@temporarilyoffline what is happening is, on transmit, the mic is still working rather than the alsa output as shown in the video.
@@beavx yep yep, manually change the mode on the radio to usb-data and in wsjt-x, pick "none" for mode.
Which raspberry pi USB port are you using?
Any of the four usb-a ports next to the ethernet port.
I think I did everything you did, but the x6100 is not returning CAT data - timeout every time
Check to make sure your user is in the 'dialout' group? Maybe select the other serial port in the drop down? I'm not 100٪ sure. I need to update this video because this was a "hey this works!" More than it was a how-to. Send me a DM on the discord or email and I can help you out with it.
Xiegu Guru, say that fast 5 times
that that that that That
Fast as I can do in text.
That’s what happens when you push buttons!!
me mash button harder!!!
Not sure i see the point in ft8 🧐
It's a fun way to make contacts without getting stuck in a horrible ragchew, it's a good way to test antennas, radios, batteries, locations and lastly, it's a good proof of concept that has spawned a lot of innovation. But I totally agree, you have to give it a purpose in your station, it doesn't really come with it's own.
