- The Reliance Controls 30 Amp 250-Volt 7,500-Watt Non-Fuse 6-Circuit Transfer Switch Kit includes the necessities to make a professional transfer switch installation in a home, office or small business. The transfer switch enables the electrical system of the building to accept the power of a portable generator to run up to 6 single-pole circuits or 4 single-pole circuits and one 20 Amp 2-pole circuit. It allows you to power electrical appliances, devices and lighting during a power outage.

Easy demo to follow with just enough attention given to the task to make me understand the process. Very good job. Thank you
Thank you for your valuable feedback
I installed this same kit in my house. Very easy and actually I had fun doing it (I’m retired). Put the hookup box out by the deck in back, bought an extra 25 ft 10 gauge extension cord and I can run my Dura-Max 5500watt generator in my garage. After I take my cars out of course. Run two refrigerators, one microwave(20 amp)one counter plug(20 amp) circuit in basement family room and the furnace. Easy peasy!
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Very cool video and extremely helpful. Thank you for sharing your knowledge
I truly appreciate your valuable feedback. Thank you for watching.
Much better explanation than the instructions that came with the Reliance transfer switch. Thanks for the video!
Your feedback is very much appreciated.
Opened my package today and whala no paperwork, glad to have found this video going to hook up the GenMax 10500 tri fuel Thank you for sharing this info
Thanks for a quality video from a pro. I came here prior to troubleshooting my transfer switch to review a proper installation. Though I've used my Reliance kit 3 times successfully since I installed it in '19 (plus a 1 a year test) problems with two circuits occurred during last months power outage. I will be checking wire nuts first of course. Seems to be my main fault when I DIY around the house :( Have been switching to WAGO's. Thanks again sir.
I switched to Wago wire connectors too. (Not because of electrical problems) They work great. Expensive, but worth the money.
Thank you, and I will add, the first thing I think is best to do is to ID all your circuits on your main panel.. like, know what’s connected to each circuit on your main breaker box (panel box), and ID them with tape paper using a good ink, or type it out from printer.
Great tip!
Does this install still accommodate the GFCI/AFCi breakers?
Basically he’s uhooking the blk wires and putting them together then joining the red to the breakers on all of em
Nice video, can the transfer be used as a circuit breaker too? Planning to connect a beam from a Ecoflow to it
Just a Note... Each pair of wires (Red and Black) are marked with a letter- ABCD on the side of the insulation. Be be sure to keep these "paired" to the household circuits that you are choosing to run off the generator. Suggestion, See Reliance official videos.
Good stuff, thanks for sharing!
My 4500W generator has a 3-prong outlet. Can I use a 3 prong to 4prong adaptor cord to connect the generator to the inlet box?
You can, but if I understand correctly, the 3 prong is only 115v/15 amp. (It should say near the outlet on the gen.). Your 4 prong 30 amp cord would then only be carrying what the outlet can put out, 115w/15 amp.
My home has a PV solar system.
Will my house solar interfere with my plans to install a manual transfer switch to control 6 house circuits?
I am concern that there will be feedback from solar to my Ecoflow battery.
Very professional. Thanks
Amazing work.
I got to install this today. So. You said it does not come with the wire that leads to outside?
Correct i had to buy separately
@@TheLandlordsWorkshop what size wire is the wire going outside? Thanks!
@matthewadams7313 I used 10/3
Can I switch out a couple of the breakers with 30 amp breakers?
@@stevec9889 It all depends on the size of wiring . 30 amp might be too much for typical wiring to handle.
How much do you charge to install?
Unfortunately, I am super busy, but the average price to install a Reliance transfer switch typically ranges from $500 to $1,500. This cost can vary based on factors such as the specific model, local labor rates, and the complexity of the installation. It’s a good idea to get quotes from licensed electricians to get a more accurate estimate.
Which the wire gauge of the one from inlet box to the transfer switch ? This one is not included in the kit I bought from Costco. Thanks
10 gauge
Good video except I can't use wire nuts in the main panel where I live.
Very interesting. What do you guys use?
@@TheLandlordsWorkshop Wires must be connected outside the main panel in yet another panel. I guess the possibility of connections coming apart is the problem. Safety first, you know, lol. Canada, eh!
@@Synonomous definitely sounds much safer .
@handymanschool I came across this info as I'm looking to install a generator right now and apparently It came into effect a year or two ago. More expensive but yeah, people don't always make connections properly and this helps for sure.
@@Synonomous I am loving your valuable feedback . Thanks
Yeah, a diagram would be helpful.

Well you failed there, Dimple 😂
