I'm older now and just starting to paint again after stopping several years ago. So thankful to have found you. Your thorough and gently instruction is exactly what I've needed. Thank you for taking so much time to explain color theory, mixing, etc. So grateful for this teaching.
Of all the videos I’ve watched, these four are by far the best in terms of enjoyment, education and ease of understanding. You take the snobbery out of art and make it accessible to the likes of me and thousands of others who aren’t particularly good at art but absolutely love it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and making me smile!
Dear Clive. I had the pleasure to see many of your videos mainly about colors, I want to thank you for the investment in these videos, there are not many artists who are willing to give so much of their time and energy for the public & of all of this with a smile, I saw all kinds of movies but I have to tell you that you gave me the most, I want to thank you again , Please continue on this road you just a present to us "lovers of painting". Many thanks again from Yoni.
Thanks and I'm happy you enjoy the videos and they are if help I love to show my teachings in real time and explain the process there are so many people out in the world who could benefit from art but don't know where to start investment is time to help and I hope it's working thanks again Clive
Clive you are funny. You've given me something to smile about and brought back a bit of my childhood. 1) I think the word you are trying to pronounce is ah-NAHL-uh-gus. Don't worry. I used to have trouble with this word myself, once. 2) Back to my childhood, Part A -- The Triadic Color Wheel: In America when our US television systems were making the (slow) transition from B&W programming to (the fledgling) color TV shows; many stations used to put up on the screen a triadic circle 'bumper' to help stations (initially w/ B&W) 'white balance' their images. Then, when we transitioned to color programming stations, would once again put up the triad circle before most television shows only this time it would be a colored triad w/ a series of 'piano bars' just beneath. Only this time the triad was used to color-balance the picture. We don't see it used anymore and only occasionally come across it if a particular station airs an old pre-1966 television show or movie. 3) Back to my childhood, Part B -- "Color Theory, Episode 3 & 4": How quickly things change........ Watching your part 3 & 4 of this series definitely brought me back to my early (art class) childhood. How much we here in America have collectively 'forgotten'. This one has special poignancy for me because I also happen to be a teacher. Color theory is one of the hardest things to teach students today. I think it is because so much in real life and visually is 'spoon-fed' to our young people. It took me the longest time to figure out WHY. We live in a color world where everything is now in color. We have hi-def, low-def, mono color, stereo color .....you understand what I mean. Watching your series made me finally understand why this concept is so hard for young people nowadays to understand. It is because schools no longer teach (true) color theory any more. Primary / elementary grade school teachers from what I have observed have skipped completely over this lesson and go straight over to teaching / showing drawing and painting techniques and concepts but have, in my opinion, left out all the important parts of how you make and equally complement similar and divergent colors. Therefore, all I can say is hats of to you Clive for such a fine lesson and thanks for bringing us all full circle back to basics :) .
Followed you through all of these on color theory, this has helped so much. Your a really good teacher and I know you must put a lot of time into making these for us. I appreciate it so much.
Clive, Thank you so much for this series, I have been trying to understand color theory for a long time but always get confused. For the first time I enjoyed it, and now I get it!!! Thanks again, Albert
Albert A your welcome I will be making colour charts soon sorry my replay is late just been so busy trying to catch up with all the comments all my videos are listed at www.clive5art.co.uk
I just started painting again after 20 years off. I just ran into you and enjoy you very much. I have seen many of your tutorials at this point. This series was wonderful. Thank you.
Hello Clive, Thank you!! I decided to paint on a whim just a few months ago and as a beginner, I din't know what I didn't know. As of today, I have finished watching all your videos on Color Theory. They are very informative and I have made my own wheel and charts. I enjoy your style of teaching and painting. Thank you very much and I look forward to many more classes.
You are such a great teacher. I have seen all your videos on color theory and it has changed how I see things. And it will help me going forward. Can't thank you enough!
Thank you so much Clive! You really did a great job explaining color theory in a way that made sense. I finally understand the difference between all those terms, hue, tint, chroma, etc. you are also fun to watch and I enjoy listening to your accent and jokes! Cheers!
I read what one of the viewers said about your personality. You add so much by the way you explain how to do art. You are fun! Knowing about color is such an important part of the finished piece you are working on. Thank you.
I just discovered your videos and I see they were produced quite some time ago so I don't know if you will see this but just in case I wanted to say that I have been searching for education on the very basics of painting for as long as I can remember & have never been able to get someone to understand that. You have finally given that to me :) I find you to be a very good teacher and am appreciative for this series. Thank you.
These were terrific Clive!! I learned so much and you explained it all very well (even when you didn't know what you were saying lol) thank you for all of the time and work you put into these videos!
Thank you Clive for the color theory as I didn't understand I saw your videos. I am though I little confused as to why other artists use colours that don't complement each other like yellow and red, and blues in abstract paintings. I am just trying to get my head around it. Thank you so much I'm just a huge fan of your work.

Clive my friend, well done! I just watched this series for the first time. As you know I've been painting for some time now, and this was very very informative and enlightening. the tips regarding what the colors do in a painting are just great! Thank you, you're still Awesome! ..I'm still watching!!
Hi Clive, thank you for these videos. They are very well structured. I was wondering, when you talk about split complimentaries, you say the color across the wheel and the one next to it, then you go clockwise. Would it also work counterclockwise? Thank you, Manon
Greetings Clive. Cleopatra here all the way from Zimbabwe. Your video tutorials are really helping me. I am not a painter but I took up trying to paint on canvas shoes a few years ago. Ive never really been happy with how my acrylic painted shoes looked - there was just that wow factor missing. With your videos I am slowly beginning to understand so much about acrylics and painting, where I have been going wrong and where I must improve. In the beginning I only used acrylic paint markers and then I went onto buying my paint sets. Im so happy that i did as Im beginning to paint again. Because of your great instructional videos, I have improved. Please advise ow I can make lettering pop? GOD bless Clive
Hi Clive, your last two video on the theory of colors are really well explained, because now I understand much better Color Harmony Wheel and especially how the used. I have a question for you Clive: when you did your color charts you have behind you, is that you used other original pigments to add to the primary color? Thank you for having responded to my request I made you and you have really explained by your series of 4 videos. Lucie bye
Sorry I should say my comment was relating the first example of the yellow and red canvas. You mentioned that red and yellow don't go together, but later on we see that red, yellow and blue go together. Does this mean that we can only paint these colours when they will be together and not just yello and red? I am sorry I'm just trying to understand. Thanks you again
As I explained on my last comment with rules the next thing todo is watch the video a few times it will help reinforce what I say but just have fun that's all that counts don't stress like a tree in the wind bend with each gust and be happy in your art
My poor aging head is spinning like a color wheel being used as a frisbee to exercise a collie, but I caught a bit of it this throw. It will take a few more throws to catch most of it. Once again, the Mad Welshman's ubiquitous humor is the treacle that makes the medicine go down.
lee wright one day soon i hope just very busy at the moment sorry my replay is late just been so busy trying to catch up with all the comments all my videos are listed at www.clive5art.co.uk
We see and hear only what we want but when we open our minds and enjoy what we see and hear we understand more as our brains become more receptive to new ideas and ping we have it what we saw as complicated now seems so easy I teach without teaching use fun and entertainment to make you smile for that is the true way to learn in do happy please keep up the good work Clive

Clive my friend, well done! I just watched this series for the first time. As you know I've been painting for some time now, and this was very very informative and enlightening. the tips regarding what the colors do in a painting are just great! Thank you, you're still Awesome! ..I'm still watching!!
+eileen youngren that is so cool thank you I appreciate it
Thank you for this helpful series. Much appreciation.
Thank you
Thank you. First time I,ve really understood colors.
Happy to help thank you 😊
thanks Clive foor the lessons. I learned a lot of this.
I hope my English is good enough for you, because I am comming from the Netherlands
Nell Bastiaan very well and great English have fun and enjoy your painting
Love these tips Clive but the huge charts you have on your back wall are they available any where to buy
+ jan breeds hi jan I made them my self they are basic colour charts easy to make I show you in a lesson soon Clive
Hi Clive, thank you for these videos. They are very well structured. I was wondering, when you talk about split complimentaries, you say the color across the wheel and the one next to it, then you go clockwise. Would it also work counterclockwise?
Thank you,
Manon
Let’s say red n green for example so green split would be red violet, red , red orange .... Red split would be yellow green. Green. Blue green
@@CLIVE5ART thank you for your response Clice. It is much appreciated. Now I can start (and dressing) with more confidence 😊.

Thank you so much Clive!! I’ve learnt so much and it going to improve my painting so much! Brilliant!! 😁
Thanks for your support
Thank you I’m so happy to have helped you in your art journey

Hi Clive, your last two video on the theory of colors are really well explained, because now I understand much better Color Harmony Wheel and especially how the used.
I have a question for you Clive: when you did your color charts you have behind you, is that you used other original pigments to add to the primary color?
Thank you for having responded to my request I made you and you have really explained by your series of 4 videos.
Lucie bye
Your very welcome Lucie I will be revisiting this series so please keep watching Clive
So nice ! Thank you!!! i really enjoyed it!
As I explained on my last comment with rules the next thing todo is watch the video a few times it will help reinforce what I say but just have fun that's all that counts don't stress like a tree in the wind bend with each gust and be happy in your art
all the colour charts behind you is it best to do all these i dont hve the space to puut them up but do you need to make these thank you
you can paint them on paper its a good way to practice mixing is all you dont need too but it can help

My poor aging head is spinning like a color wheel being used as a frisbee to exercise a collie, but I caught a bit of it this throw. It will take a few more throws to catch most of it. Once again, the Mad Welshman's ubiquitous humor is the treacle that makes the medicine go down.
😂😂
Cheers, very informative right from the beginning! Do you do a vid on chart making? And flesh tones Clive? Thanks again mate

Take care Clive
I now understand it, the triadic theory. I'm just a bit slow...
We see and hear only what we want but when we open our minds and enjoy what we see and hear we understand more as our brains become more receptive to new ideas and ping we have it what we saw as complicated now seems so easy I teach without teaching use fun and entertainment to make you smile for that is the true way to learn in do happy please keep up the good work
Clive
you made me laugh too.....thank you
