I am changing that and lost 50 pounds now, but the years of addiction had me afraid of what I know is good for me. Junk wires cravings and your mind.
I'm a regular listener to Chris's Radio 6 show and had no idea about this part of his life. His phobia was remarkable but I liked that he had enough self awareness to understand that it was not normal and needed to be dealt with, even when he had trouble even saying the names of the fruit and veg. While it's none of our business, I'm curious how he is managing today and if he's continued to progress. I know he has at least one child now, so that would be the motivation for most people to want to stay healthy since they showed him how he was heading down a pretty grim road health-wise. Phobias are serious business and it was impressive the process they took him through, and how his determination lead to some serious progress. Good on the guy.
I don't think anyone should be suggesting that this is is his fault. It's not him being an asshole and refusing food, he is literally ill and has trouble looking at vegetables and fruits absolutely unwillingly. He might as well be bloody best actor in the world and fake it of course. So I do think people got to show a little bit more compassion towards him.

Not really. Several people on the show recounted stories of having the whole "if you don't eat it now, you'll have it for the next meal, then the next, then the next" routine pulled on them, and for severe food aversion, that tactic can be quite damaging as it actually heightens anxiety around mealtimes, making the situation worse.
