Just picked up the salon guy pure set earlier this week. Definitely expensive, but I thinks it’s justified. I’ll just make it a few-times-per-week product and think that’ll work out great.

Thanks! Well I feel Prismatic Glow is a mask I’d leave in for a few mins max while in the shower. Carbon I like to use for more of a repair treatment and leave it in 15-20 mins.

Does the hemp shampoo and conditioner set also have DHT blocking ingredients?
Good question
I find ingredients have DHT blocking ingredients in shampoo: palmetto, biotin, Beta-sitosterol, ketoconazole, pumpkin seed oil, rosemary oil, iron, and vitamins B12 & B6
TheSalonGuy has a Quinoa shampoo/conditioner which is DHT blocking!

Another great review, I wanted to inquire about your favorite pre-styler you would suggest as I have a similar hair type which is fairly coarse/thick. I would like something that keeps the hair soft and provides some hold. What would be your top pre-stylers you would suggest to combo if I am using clays like Hustle/Fuertes?
Thanks Kurt! I wouldn’t say that I have one sole favorite - in fact lately I have been experimenting with combining two or sometimes even three prestylers (in small amounts) and getting some stellar results.
With that being said though, 25 spray from TheSalonGuy is still one of my all time favorites. These days, I use a couple spritzes of that as a base, regardless of what other prestylers or post I may be using alongside it. 25 will definitely keep the hair soft, give it some volume and such, but not much in the way of hold.
For more hold, I’ve been enjoying combining 25 with some Amity texture spray or Crafted blow dry cream. The Xmondo Glitterati is another good option for some hold that isn’t overpowering.
Nice vid, Matt! How often do you condition your hair? I do it once every 1-2 weeks since I rarely feel my hair gets dry.
Thanks! I condition every time I shampoo which is usually every other day.
Those shampoos that don't give a squeaky clean feel typically leave some build up/ hair products in the hair, therefor the hair feels soft and hydrated in the short run but after a while the hair feels heavy and dirty. A lot of organic shampoos do that actually.
Sometimes that’s the case, sure. But in my experience with this and several others they manage to remove all product build up without making the hair feel overly stripped. I haven’t had a problem with it leaving any product behind.

Do you prefer oasis clay or crafted Matt paste?
Hard to say, both are great! Oasis definitely had a stickier application while Crafted is oddly smooth, and I think Crafted ends up feeling lighter in the hair. Similar hold strength and texture on both though.

Just an observation. I had liked him to talk about Activated Charcoal, since I still remember that in previous videos, you strongly criticized Hudson and Mane for using Activated Charcoal in their products, so the fact that you don't talk about it in TheSalonGuy mask, It makes me a fairly biased stance on your part, by not criticizing this ingredient in this video and therefore, in the end, seeing a partial opinion and difficult to believe and justify for the price.

I still don’t really know whether activated charcoal does what people claim it to do or not. I criticized Hudson & Mane because I feel like they oversold it with all the stuff that it supposedly does (and also I don’t really understand why they have it in their conditioner when it’s already in their shampoo.) With this product, yes it’s there and says it will help to remove some impurities but it doesn’t claim to do anything else. Either way, I feel the masque would be good whether it was in there or not.

How does it compare in terms of performance with Pure Set?
Similar but Hemp set to me feels more of a luxury thing while Pure is more a daily driver. Hemp set maybe a little more deep conditioned feeling.

Does the shampoo work like a clarifying shampoo when it comes to the removal of buildup?
Nah, the Hemp set is all about conditioning/moisturizing/luxury feel. The shampoo will still obviously cleanse your hair, but it is not at all like a clarifying shampoo.
@@TDMStyle do you recommend any of his sets that would act similar to a clarifying shampoo? I need something that can really deep clean and remove product buildup
What kind of build up are we talking here? If you're using stuff like clays/pastes/waxes, you'd be fine with something like his Clean & Condition or PURE sets. But, if you're using heavier pomades and whatnot and need some heavy-duty cleansing, I'd go with something like Redken's clarifying shampoo. Just definitely use conditioner afterwards.
