  • Jack and the Beanstalk
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack who lived with his mother. They depended on each other, and their only source of income was a cow. One day, the cow could no longer produce milk, so Jack's mother asked him to take the cow to the market and sell it to earn some money for their living expenses.
Jack set off with the cow. On his way, he met a strange old man who said, "Young man, how about trading your cow for these beans? They are magic beans! In just one night, they will grow all the way up to the sky!" Jack found it fascinating and happily traded the cow for a handful of beans, bringing them home with excitement.
However, when his mother heard the story, she was furious and anxious. She scolded Jack loudly, "You traded a whole cow for a few useless beans! What will we eat and drink now?" In her anger, she threw the beans out the window and ordered Jack to go to bed.
The next morning, Jack woke up to find a towering beanstalk outside the window! It was tall and sturdy, reaching straight into the sky. Filled with curiosity, Jack decided to see where it led and began climbing up the beanstalk.
After climbing for a long time, Jack finally reached the clouds and found a path leading to a massive castle. Summoning his courage, he entered the castle and encountered a towering giant's wife.
"Ma'am, I’m hungry and tired. Could you please give me something to eat?" Jack asked politely.
The giant's wife sighed and gave Jack some bread and milk but warned him, "Eat quickly! If my husband comes back, he will eat you up!" Just as she finished speaking, the sound of heavy footsteps echoed through the castle.
"Quick, hide!" she said, and tucked Jack into a large pot.
The giant entered, sniffing the air, and roared, "I smell a human! There's a child here!" But after searching for a while, he found nothing. After his meal, the giant took out a bag of gold coins and started counting them. Soon, he fell asleep.
Seeing the giant sound asleep, Jack crept out of the pot, grabbed the bag of gold coins, and climbed back down the beanstalk. With the gold, Jack and his mother lived comfortably for a while, but eventually, the gold ran out.
Jack climbed the beanstalk again and returned to the castle. This time, he saw a hen that laid golden eggs. When the giant was fast asleep, Jack took the hen and escaped back home. From then on, the hen laid golden eggs every day, and Jack and his mother’s lives improved greatly.
But Jack's curiosity didn’t stop there. On his third trip up the beanstalk, he saw the giant bring home a magical harp that played beautiful music by itself. When the giant fell asleep, Jack grabbed the harp and prepared to escape. Suddenly, the harp cried out, "Master, help me!"
The giant immediately woke up and roared in anger, chasing after Jack. Jack slid down the beanstalk as quickly as he could, shouting, "Mom! Bring me an axe!"
His mother handed him the axe, and Jack swung it with all his might, chopping down the beanstalk. With a loud crash, the beanstalk fell, and the giant plummeted to the ground, shattering into pieces.
From that day on, Jack and his mother lived happily ever after, thanks to the hen that laid golden eggs and the enchanting music of the magical harp.
Jack and the Beanstalk teaches us that courage and a spirit of adventure can lead to unexpected opportunities, but it also reminds us to seize them with moderation and avoid greed. Love and responsibility for family serve as the driving force behind our actions, while wisdom and cleverness help us navigate through challenges. The story also highlights the importance of not underestimating seemingly insignificant things, as they may hold the potential to change our destiny. Most importantly, it emphasizes the need to take responsibility for our choices and face the consequences bravely.
