    In 1998 I found a Walther P 38 at a gun show. It was in pristine condition, with all matching numbers and After bargaining for sometime the prize came home with me. It will definitely be passed down to my son. it is unique that it ejects the brass to the left side.

      Interesting indeed. Which one was more appreciated as a trophy the P38 or Luger?

      Was it at the neo-Nazi booth which are quite common at gun shows?

    Bought my P.38, my first handgun, in 1981 - an AC41. Still in the family 42 years later, now owned by my eldest. Excellent design.

    I purchased my P-38 in 1976, after I had turned 21, at a pawn shop in Longivew WA for $125. It was my first firearm purchase. I still take it to the range and discharge 100 rounds of 9mm a couple of times a year. By the way, Walther is pronounced by Germans as Valter. The "h" is silent. Otherwise, this was a great video.

    It was much cheaper to produce than the Luger, just as accurate and much more reliable. Those were the biggest factors. Also, same caliber and same capacity as the Luger.

    Never get the same respect as the Luger, but it’s more deserving of respect for being a better handgun.

    In 1980 I bought an Interarms p38. Came with a leather holster 2 magazines and the pistol in a big colorful box. All for 225.00 dollars. Needed cash and had to sell it, Nice pistols.

      I think that was common amongst Bullseye Pistol competitors, one hand grip/ other hand in pocket. Firing at 25 & 50 yard targets. Circa 1930-1960, maybe?

      The weight in the P.38 is way back at the grip end, so you get quite a bit of muzzle flip.

    Isn't this the longest serving pistol in any military? They were using this well into the 60's.

    • @Eric_Schon
      @Eric_Schon 9 місяців тому

      No, the 1911 is the longest serving pistol. From 1911 until 1986 for the majority of the U.S. military and into the 2000s for Special Forces.
