    Technically it’s 281 bpm but for some reason the Alesis module would only set 281.. lol that’s what happens on those beater kits in guitar center lol

      True words have never been spoken.
      One time I was out to buy a guitar. I found one i really really liked and i rode a bus for 45mins each way almost every other day just so i could jam on it at the store. I did this for two weeks and the people at the store were getting pissed with me because i was having a fun time playing it but i wasnt buying it. So i proved them wrong by putting down a deposit on the guitar and asking them to hold it for me as i would be away for a week.
      A week rolled by and I came back almost every other day for another week or two to jam on the guitar and they were starting to get pissed off again and threatened to return my deposit because they wanted to put the guitar back out on the wall so other people could buy it. So in the end i ended up buying the guitar.
      that was 15+ years ago and i look back on it now and my behaviour was unacceptable. But its not as if the shop didnt have 300 other guitars and other shit to sell as they were a proper music store that did keyboards, drums and other musical instruments.
      I appreciate that they held the guitar for me so long before i eventually bought it but i felt that i really needed to bond with the guitar before putting down the money and leaving with it.

      the faster it goes, the less you work out, it's mostly controlled rebound on the hands and spring tension doing the work for the feet at these speeds. . i cant go 280 or anything like that but i can go 220 and i can do that all day whereas after a powermetal set that is mostly between 130 and 180, i'm drenched in sweat after half an hour already. with the slower tempi, your bigger leg muscles are employed so it tires you out quicker

    • @ChainsawGutsFuck
      @ChainsawGutsFuck 2 роки тому +63

      Heel toe is a gamechanger for straight double bass. Either 50% effort, 100% result... or 100% effort, 200% result. It straight up doubles your speed, so you can either play slower and remain fast, or play faster and become ludicrous.

      I'm a guitar player trying to get into drums (been playing drums off and on for about 8 years but realistically I play like a 1 year student). Finally got a kit in my house with mesh heads and low volume cymbals... Anyway whenever I'm doing double bass I have to swivel foot otherwise my ankles just seem to lock up after a while. Is this a normal thing for drummers to go through?

    • @bultronlagore4932
      @bultronlagore4932 2 роки тому +42

      @@bastaudio Yes it happens. Trust me when I say this but if your not a water drinker then I would definitely start. I’ve been playing drums for 27 years and have been playing Tech Death Metal, Tech Deathcore, Grindcore, Thrash Metal, etc the majority of it. I used to drink a lot of beer, sweet tea, soft drinks, etc until one day I quit drinking so much beer before playing shows and changed from all the bad stuff too just straight up water and saw a BIG difference in my stamina, pain relief, etc. No more locking up cramping joints in the legs or arms. Also another thing that really helps is to do stretching before each practice. There are some good instructional videos on UA-cam that talks about this. I hope this helped some. Ulrichs drumming is not that hard when you are a drummer, but to write those parts in the early days, and influence so many people around the world with those parts, you gotta have a talent with music at that point. Shame that he has gone downhill with his drumming nowadays, but that just tells that even when you are a good drummer, you can never practice too much. Practice until its easy for ya :)
