Thanks for your job Linda! I always recommend you. This week Im having the most important interview of my career, wish me luck!
    .
4:47 Mistake #1: Feel you have no control over this interview process. // You are in control because youre talking the most of the time. They`re listening and react depending on what you tell them and HOW you say it (how youre structure your answers). They`re listening what are you feeling, your energy, your confidence.
    .
14:31 Mistake #2: You are too worried about what they think about you and youre judging yourself. Cant focus on what are you saying.//Focus in what you want to say, in conect with the other people and be prepared.
    .
19:37 Mistake #3: Youre no prepared.//You need to know all the things about you that make you relevant to this position. Have your stories and responses line up .
    .
25:03 Mistake #4: Youre over reasearch the company and not yourself.// Abilities, strengths, talents,
    .
The underline question is why you are a right fit for them. Its important what you say and the way that you say it.
    .
34:45 Bonus: Think that an interview is just a q&a. // Its an opp for you to sell yourself, and its all in how you do it and what you say. Conect with the other person, the way you deliver your energy, etc. How I fell about myself? They feel it too.

You are so on target! The "tell me about yourself" is harder than it seems. I like how you addressed it, Present/Past/Future. I have the skills and experience but noticed I'm getting the interviews but not the job. You are the best career coach on UA-cam, thank you.

I have problem of not being called for interviews since after my graduation days. I guess it has something to do with my resume. I have been able to get jobs through employee referral instead. I was thankful that i was able to ace the interviews previously.
But i am now so scared of being interviewed. My last job interview was 7yrs ago☹.
Trying to pre-empt and prepare all the possible questions!!!

Hi Linda, thank you for creating this video and for tackling this topic. Mistake #2 is definitely me. I didnt apply a job yet its bc i always have this kind of mindset that I frequently think of others perspective or opinion about me. as a result this creates more anxiety and nerves to myself. Hoping that i'd be able to overcome this kind of feeling.

I have so much workplace trauma (disability discrimination etc but I have always beyond exceeded in roles I’m in. I also have disabilities). I’m trying to get out of a toxic workplace however my brain fog is pretty bad and the trauma in my life blocks out my memory. I feel like I need to read my job history and the skills because I can’t remember my own job history.
It’s hard to have confidence too because I have autism and I think I read a situation/interview going well only to find out I misread it completely. Then my confidence is just shattered

Answer selection is common mistake we see. Basically, make sure you're choosing the right example to share to answer each interview question. Folks who have a lot of work experience typically have this problem since they have "so many good projects" to talk about and they can't decide which one to use. Make sure your example 1) answers the question DUH! 2) has an impressive and unpredictable result that will WOW your interviewer

  • @danalong6573

tips: have questions ready. it can be about the company or role and know your audience. is it HR or is it the team or hiring manager, because that will determine the questions you ask as well. :)

Hi Linda, I listened to your advice on why I have been so nervous on interviews. It did not occur to me why I was but when you explained it, you were definitely right - I was focused on what I ‘thought’ the interviewer was thinking. Your advice helped me so much on my interview. Thank you!!

Linda, some of those questions start with biased selection! Not on work fit!? 🤔 This is where the Corporations fail as too much into biased fit and not candidate’s knowledge or talent! Sometimes you discern the interviewer is nervous or threatened !
These are recent strategies unlike in the dayIt is why we have evasive employees who don’t last in one job for a long period!
As a strategist in the field of hire you should give thought to changing this biased selection patterns !

What do you do when you come upon a complete jerk? At my age I don’t want to stay for anymore abuse or sarcasm.
I truly feel they need to be professional also. So if they show themselves and I’m not impressed with their behavior towards me, I’m not staying and wasting my time or theirs.
I’ve found that if I don’t feel as though they’ve given me a fair chance, I m out immediately. That’s what I’ve learned up to this point in my life. I will not tolerate bad actions bc I wouldn’t want to work for that company anyway.
Trick questions are just to see how you’ll adjust and see if you’re the right one for the position.

Hi Linda, any advice for people who got really tired of being in white collar jobs such as being an accountant, lawyer, auditors, corporate managers and so on. Im one of those people who realized that a “nice title”doesn’t really make me happy. In our society, they might think im crazy coz i should be thankful i have a decent white collar job but they don’t understand the demands of it. I don’t aim to be one of the executives. I realized as i get older, i want a simple less stress job and at the same time can sustain my simple lifestyle. Being in a white collar job, I feel the weight on my shoulder, drag myself to work everyday, make me physically sick coz of high demand and stress and mentally exhausting every second of my day in the office. Every second of the day, i only think of quitting and walking out. The fact that I can’t just quit coz of financial obligations adds up to my stress. Please help. I really need advice to clear my head. Thank you.

I have been to interviews where the interviewer IS the one doing all the talking. I barely get to speak just because they are rambling and not really asking me any questions. Is that a test or are they just not aware of what they are doing? I just feel like those kind of interviews just wastes everyone’s time and those are the wrong people tasked with interviewing candidates. Just wanted to get that off my chest LOL.

I’m curious, do you have a history with projection? It seems you make projection an issue for every situation, I think there is a time and place that projection definitely applies, such as with a narcissist etc, but you throw that word around so much that you make “normal people with intuitive thoughts” seem bad/projecting/creating imaginary scenarios.
Are you a licensed psychologist/psychiatrist or an interior designer.
All I’m saying is I’d be careful how you are PROJECTING your thoughts of projection or “labeling” people.
