I heard a (less than originally thought) similar guitar tune in another song and with muddled lyrics spent half an hour, to no avail, trying to find this song again. All of a sudden the lyrics just came flooding back today and I almost ran to my computer. Originally I thought it was OverKill by colin Hay I was hearing in my mind but listening to that was like trying to jam the wrong puzzle piece into place.
I keep listening to this. It's so disturbing. I recently told my ex that we cant get back together, he took it hard. But he said this song is exactly how he feels with out me...and I personally don't even understand the song and what it's about :\
In the first stanza we have eagles in the dark and feathers in pages. Without getting into it too much that essentially means he is not moving on and still watches you, though don't take that literally. Monkeys in the cage rattling the heart should be obvious, he hurts because of you.The next few verses are pretty much saying he's not moving on easily and the depression he suffers because he still loves you.
The next few lines are a bit tricky, but they seem to emphasize taking risks and going faster or out of control. Possibly trying to relate to the way he currently feels his life is going. The ending is a conclusion. You must have left him because he's not good enough for you. this is affirmed by the second to third stanza's where he says its not under his control. this is of course just in relation to your situation.
