Fernanda Torres performance in 'I'm Still Here' is raw, intense, and absolutely unforgettable. She has a way of getting under your skin and staying there long after the credits roll. This is the kind of performance that reminds you why we love cinema.
YES to: - Fernanda Torres Actress - I’m Still Here Picture! - Sebastian Stan Actor! - Nickel Boys Picture - Coralie F. in Director BOO to: - No Sing Sing in Picture - No to Clarence Maclin in S.Actor - No Challengers Score - No Ross or Villeneuve in Director Glad I kept Stan and Torres in my predictions. I did pretty well, but as usual the short films let me down.
Parallel to highlighting the significance of our cinematic industry, we underscore the brutality and corruption that defined Brazil's 21-year military dictatorship, characterized by egregious abuses of power, kidnappings, torture, rape, and state-sponsored murders, embodied by the infamous Brilhante Ustra. 'I'm Still Here' stands as a poignant testament to this somber chapter in our history, cautioning us against the resurgence of such a destructive regime. Fernanda Torres's masterful performance, acknowledged internationally, pays tribute to the resilience and struggle for justice. As Ulisses Guimarães so aptly put it, 'WE ABHOR AND LOATHE DICTATORSHIP!' This film serves as a vital reminder of the imperative role memory plays in preventing the repetition of history. #NoAmnesty
OH MY GOD, so happy that the whole world was surprised AND HAPPY with the nomination of I'm Still Here as best film of the year!!! IT'S NOT OVER YET, WE'RE STILL HERE
Great video, guys. Thank you so much for this. As a brazilian, I feel so good watching this. You show so much respect for our cinema. Love it! Hoping we can get IFF -- we are the real latin movie in this category after all. Hope latinos stick together on this. ❤
I'm rooting for the film I'm Still Here, it deserved to be nominated for best film, I'm rooting for Fernanda Torres, she's my favorite performance this season❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Several Oscar records were set as a result of these nominations (let me know if there is more): - At 13 nominations, EMILIA PEREZ is now officially the most Oscar-nominated non-English language film of all time, surpassing CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON and ROMA for the record (both got 10 each). It also marks the first time ever that a non-English language film is the solo nominations leader in a given year (ROMA was tied with THE FAVOURITE back in 2018). - This year marks the 2nd year in a row that more than 1 non-English language film made the Best Picture lineup (I'M STILL HERE and EMILIA PEREZ). Last year saw 3 (PAST LIVES, THE ZONE OF INTEREST, and ANATOMY OF A FALL). I'M STILL HERE becomes the first Brazilian film ever nominated for Best Picture as well. - Timothee Chalamet becomes only the 8th ever male actor to receive at least 2 acting Oscar nominations before age 30, after Mickey Rooney, Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, Sal Mineo, James Dean, Edward Norton, and Heath Ledger. Ledger and Dean both achieved this feat posthumously, and would've been under 30 had they lived to see their 2nd nom. If Chalamet wins (which is looking VERY likely now), he will surpass Adrien Brody as the youngest ever winner for Best Actor (who is funnily enough nominated this year, so it'll be a symbolic "passing of the torch" of sorts). - Thanks to her nomination for CONCLAVE, Isabella Rossellini now becomes only the 4th actor or actress ever to be Oscar-nominated herself after BOTH parents have been nominated, after Liza Minnelli, Laura Dern, and Jamie Lee Curtis. She is also the first non-American to achieve this particular feat. - Fernanda Torres becomes only the 2nd Brazilian to be nominated for an acting Oscar, after her mom Fernanda Montenegro. They join Ingrid Bergman/Isabella Rossellini to become only the 3rd and 4th pair of non-American parent/child duos respectively to both be nominated for acting (Michael Redgrave and his 2 daughters Vanessa and Lynn Redgrave are the first 2 sets of duos). - Cynthia Erivo becomes the first ever non-American Black woman to receive 2 acting Oscar nominations, and only the 2nd Black woman overall to receive 2 nominations in Lead Actress (after Viola Davis). If she wins, she will be the fastest person to achieve the EGOT status. - This year marks the first time since 1995 that every single Best Director nominee is a first time nominee in that category (that year saw Mel Gibson win the Oscar for BRAVEHEART). - Karla Sofia Gascon becomes the first ever transgender performer to be nominated for acting at the Oscars. - If my memory serves me correctly, Sebastian Stan is the first person to be nominated for playing the incumbent President.
Trevor, I am from Brazil and I came here because of I am Still Here, but I have to say that i fucking loved your voice! Dude, tou should work dubbing animations. 😅
1. Denis Villanueve was snubbed for Best Director. 2. Clarence Maclin and Margaret Qualley were snubbed for Best Supporting Actor and Actress. 3. Sing Sing and A Real Pain were snubbed for Best Picture.
So happy for the Apprentice nominations. Especially that Sebastian Stan didn't lose out by having two fantastic performances that split the votes. And A Different Man for the amazing Makeup from Mike Marino is also great
With "The Brutalist" getting everything it could (including Editing!), I'm still convinced that it's our Best Picture. Also: I wouldn't rule out "Conclave" for Adapted Screenplay, even with the overperformance of "A Complete Unknown."
Now, I need to see I'm Still Here! Very sad for Sing Sing missing Best Picture and Clarence Maclin missing Supporting Actor; Marianne Jean-Baptiste missing Best Actress and Kneecap ☘☘☘☘missing for International Feature Film! Happy for Nickel Boys and I think it will win Adapted Screenplay!
The only massive shock is Im Still Here getting nominated because Id never even heard of it Then you read the synopsis & you go yeah that makes sense for Best Picture
Its because you dont read news and magazine about that. Nytimes, washington post, the variety and so many others write down that im still here should win as best picture. The movie won the new york critics, palm springs, vancouver as the best film and the audience best film.
I'm so happy for Monica Barbaro, Felicity Jones, Mikey Madison, Demi Moore, Timothee Chalamet, Edward Norton, James Mangold, Kieran Culkin, Colman Domingo, Sebastian Stan, & Jeremy Strong!

The Brutalist with 10 nominations makes me so happy. My favourite film of the year. Thrilled for Anora, The Wild Robot, The Substance, Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Strong - all movies & performances I liked this year. Shocked Conclave underperformed a little. Not as shocked by Dune Part 2. Usually it isn’t until the last film in the series that they really go all in on it. I better see Dune Messiah nominated everywhere. I would swap Mangold for Villeneuve/ Audiard for Berger in a heartbeat. I’m Still Here in Best Picture is still the shock of the night but a welcome one. From everything I’ve heard… Can’t wait to see it. I don’t think Emilia Perez should have 13 nominations. Wow.
The members of The Academy actually know the definition of “Cinematography”. It is a word that people have started to use out of place for MANY years, I am glad that they didn’t place the top 5 films in this category- they did the right thing. Bravo and Brava
I can guarantee you that this will easily be the LOWEST rated Oscar telecast in history. First of all, people are recovering from the recent fires up in Pacific Palesades and this simply looks pretentious to have a ceremony while people are picking up their lives. Secondly. the film with the most nominations, Emilia Perez easily turn off at least three quarters of the American people. Not to mention it's a TERRIBLE movie. (Watched half of it on Netflix then decided it was one of the WORST films I have EVER seen!) The Oscar telecasts have been losing viewers over the last several years and this one looks to be the lowest rated yet. Sorry, after years of boring telecasts I won't be watching this year and I know I'm far from the only person who feels this way!
The inclusion of I'm Still Here is very interesting. I can actually see Fernanda Torres winning Best Actress. I always thought they wouldn't give it to Mikey Madison, too young & not really established enough. It's between Demi Moore & Fernanda Torres, both with narratives to win. Could we actually see a International Film/Best Picture split now. I though if Emilia Perez (nomination leader) won International Film would they also give it Best Picture??? Now they can give I'm Still Here International Film & Emilia Perez Best Picture, oh my.

The way the Oscars normally works is the top 5 films are in the editing category- that may be what happened in this situation.
‘ I’m Still Here’ is everywhere 😱
