I have to admit, you had me the first 60 seconds. I was thinking "Ah, I remember going to the beach in the morning and dropping LSD, thinking about space, talking to myself about space, my place in space, my space in my place..." Can't fault you for plugging the event though. If I wasn't saving up for the photography side of things (this is an expensive hobby), I'd be there. I like Australia. Got to spend a couple of months there. Giant chess in Hyde Park was amazing. Good luck on the talk. Remember to tell them all about how life is meaningless and we're all going to die.
I wish I were able to attend. Best of luck with the program - it's a fantastic idea. I live in the countryside near a small town in northern Michigan, US. It's a bortle 2 or 3 zone all over around here, but I have students who live in town (a blistering bortle 5) who still have never seen the Milky Way. They just don't understand what they're taking for granted... Luckily I get to drag them out to a dark sky park for a nighttime viewing once in a while. :-)
How often do I think about space? Every Minute of the day...because...like...wish Everyone would give me More Space! Oh but space the outer stuff...yup...pretty damn often!
Did a presentation to my colleagues at work about my astrophotography hobby. Dead silence after the presentation. My colleague did a presentation on gardening was swamped by questions 😞, guess more relatable? Anyway time for a polar alignment...
I think of Space every day, and every night I fall asleep to #JohnMichaelGodier's channel #EventHorizon. If we had the tech and I had the m money, I'd be out there now, never to return to Earth. Lolz
Dylan, we'd love to speak to you about being invited to next year's event, if possible. My wife and I appreciate your content and have for about 5 years now (on my other channel). A toy telescope saved my life, so we built a charity to help others who are struggling through stargazing and astrophotography. Our mission (using astronomy to help uplift mental wellness), is small but mighty. I'd love to share our story and connect with you and possibly give a 5+ minute talk, or be a part of the event in any way, even as an attendee. Thanks for what you do, and as a young astronomer (34yo), I really love the freshness and humor you bring to this lifestyle/hobby. You rock man. ✌️ With your permission, I'll comment our website so you can check it out and connect if you wish. Let me know, thanks!
Man I'd love to meet you guys but sadly I'll be stuck in the UK, I hope there will be some uploads by yourself & Trevor Jones afterwards though be interesting to watch.
Hours everyday, planning targets, trying different combos of equipment, tweaking here and there and reading about astronomy when I have free time at work.
Hiw often do I think about space? Continuously - will my new Antlia Dual Band filter REALLY cut through Seven Hills light pollution? Will I be saved from having to drive to Wiruna (when it is open)? Questions, questions ...
Hope to visit the Byron Bay Observatory and the conference next year. With the hurricane season that just began in the Caribbean I think about space even more, now that I can’t go outside to image for 4-6 months.
Thank you for your reply and appreciate your videos. Now taking photos of the moon with my Celestron 120mmX1000mm refractor and the results are very pleasing even with a 2X barlow. Think about space and and the next project the planets. So many towns and cities think nothing of the light pollution destroying the night sky. From the 81yro in July from Kingman AZ.
Every day I check the night sky conditions. Living in Connecticut I average 2-3 decent observing nights per month. When I go to sleep I turn on my planetarium. So, I think about the universe every day, read relevant science findings and youtube blogs, am filled with wonder about how much we do not know. James Webb is amazing at opening new queries.
I think about space, my place in it, in this time, and just appreciate how lucky I am to experience it every day. Though I do feel sadness for the celestial events I will miss. That must be an {insert_zodiac_sign_here} thing of me to say XD
I would LOVE to be there. Well, I think about space since I was a kid and I never understood why most people are simply not aware of what the Earth is and where we are in the universe. Now, whenever the clouds are not over me (which is very rarely in the area where I live in Brazil), I'm trying some new DSO. I introduced myself to AP a year ago and I love it.
If I could have my way, I would like it if human beings would look at themselves as beings that lived on a planet together. Put our focus on ways to improve all of our lives and improve our planet. I love when I hear we are made of stardust. When I look up at the night sky...on a clear moonless night it still takes my breathe away. It is when I'm sure there is a higher power that exists and it takes my breathe away. The night sky has fascinated mankind since we first looked up. One of my Sons first words was moon. He was a baby and wasn't talking much. We were driving around at night doing errands. I said where should we go now? He pointed at the sky to the beautiful round moon and said moon!!! It still is one of my favorite memories.
Well done that man! Pity its a bit outside my driving range. I thought "I think about space a lot", then I realised I think more about the weather *allowing* me to see space! No streetlights... so jealous! Keep up the good work!
I'm a Leo. On the day I was born 2 planets slammed into each other and gave birth to Jupiter. The moons of those 2 planets went out to Saturn and hit it and caused it to ram into Neptune and Mercury, thereby ending astrology. No Mercury retrograding into the 7th house anymore. At least that's how my mother told the story. But we still have astronomy. It's above all that light pollution that gets worse every day.
Ah, shucks. Really. I would love to attend but its not in the cards (or stars). Love the idea and would be cool to visit your area sometime. You are right; not only do most people live in areas they can't see the Milky Way or even many stars, they rarely look UP. Maybe some people notice a nice sunset or sunrise or some interesting clouds, but most look out and down at their feet.
Hopefully, this will be an every year event. I’ve already been thinking about going to Australia since you will have three total solar eclipses in the next ten years.
this is awesome and yeah i guess other cities are run by people who never saw the milky way once so why let the residents get the chance. it has more meaning than seeing the night sky, it makes people humble and more inspired to move forward.
I wish I could go to this sooooo bad. We need a Go Fund me for all of us poor bastards that have spent all of our dollars on telescopes, cameras and mounts.
Sounds awesome! If you ever do this again, professor Fred Watson would be a great speaker. He's local, if there's anything like that in Australia. Check out the Space Nuts podcast. 👍
Wish I could be there with you Dylan...I'm too far away under the dissapointing light polluted unsettled weather skies of the UK. Thinking about it... if one day I took a trip to Australia how could I maximise my stay there to see the skies without falling into tourist traps. Would be nice to get access to share viewing of professional equipment.. and get some data. I have a Celestron 9.25inch scope and Skywatcher Eq6 R pro... and high end amateur equipment... ( but not a observatory like yours :-) ) Its all not very portable and a bit expensive to transport... lol. I love astrophotography... shame I have no access to see the beautiful objects of the southern skies. I am aware of remote viewing like itelescope but do not like running subscription services... I'm a bit nervous as I'm a bit old school. I wonder if somehow you can buy as a one of payment data for particular objects such as Large Magellanic Cloud..with cal data and then process the data myself?? Your a lucky guy living out there...keep the great videos coming
If I was travelling I'd just packing a really small setup. Even just a tripod and camera. There's so much big stuff in the sky anyway, and dark skies are basically everywhere between cities and towns :)
You Are that kind of guy who shows his astrophotos to everyone at every party, right? Yeah, me too dude! Love your content 😊please invite me to your parties 😅
I see how you're trying to lure us visual observers there with hopes of winning a 12" Dob, just to locks us in a room and force us to look at astrophotography. Well, here is one purest visual observer who won't be falling for your evil AP witchcraft!! ... actually I'd love to attend, but I'm a poor farm boy living in the States, so the chances of swinging that trip within a month aren't good. Maybe next year tho! Looking forward to all the great astro content that comes from the event.
Why does Byron Bay has to be on the other end of the world :( first my fav band comes from there and now one of my fav astronomers is doing cool star stuff (like literally) in Byron as well...phew...but I won't let that get me down because I remember: everything is meaningless and we are all going to die
My Mom use to tell me that my head was in the clouds. No Mom, about 95 miles higher. First view from a scope age 5, first telescope of my own 8 years old. And still going strong at nearly seventy.
We're in election mode here in the UK and I wish our politicians would think a bit more about space, then perhaps they would realise how insignificant they really are in the great scheme of things and stop prancing round with inflated egos and actually do something that makes our little planet a better place. They can start by stopping wasting millions on powering the lighting of buildings and roads in the middle of the night when it's unnecessary. When I was a kid sixty years ago the Milky Way was really impressive from where I live, especially after midnight when the street lights were turned off. Now patches of it are just about visible on a clear moonless night during August and September, but at least there are some dark sky sites not too far away where people can still be awed by the night sky. All the best for your meeting, I hope the skies stay clear for you.
Love the way everything is intertwined and co-effected in our Observable Universe. The neutron that had just passed the event horizon after billion years long fall into a distant quasar's SMBH, and a proton from my left pinky nailclip. No right or wrong, just cause and probabilistic effect. Guess I'm a typical Libra.
Hey Dylan, Great video, I think about space all the time from my London U.K bortle 9 light polluted sky. I hope to go one day so can see the Milky way. I was very lucky on the evening of May 10th to see the Aurora. Clear skies ✨️
"How often do you think about SPACE?" 8-12 hours a day. Retired. Full time armature astronomer.
Amateur 👍.
An “armature” astronomer goes around and around :)
Can't wait for the AstroBackyard x Dylan O'Donnell collab!
2:20 thats a very Scorpio thing to do, isn't it lmaoooooo ☠☠☠☠☠☠☠
te he he

Great video. When putting astronomy in reference, it helps to put the day nonscience in perspective
I wish I were able to attend. Best of luck with the program - it's a fantastic idea.

Hello from Slidell Louisiana! I know your program will be awesome. Wish I could be there!
Astrology...what???...you don't consider yourself an Astrologer as well? How on earth do you predict the weather...?!?!
Did a presentation to my colleagues at work about my astrophotography hobby. Dead silence after the presentation. My colleague did a presentation on gardening was swamped by questions 😞, guess more relatable? Anyway time for a polar alignment...
lol .. those fools.
I think of Space every day, and every night I fall asleep to #JohnMichaelGodier's channel #EventHorizon.
If we had the tech and I had the m money, I'd be out there now, never to return to Earth. Lolz
yeh fuck these losers !
I wish I could attend! This is great.
Looking forward to StarStuff! Need my refresher of astronomy with how many astrologers I’ve had to talk to (it was one)

I've spent time thinking about "up there" since my high school days many decades ago...
I would LOVE to be there.

There is a big difference between astrology and astronomy, one thinking looks the future, one looking for sure , absolutely the real pass!!!

I think about space everyday, the things we can see from the ground wouldbe far more detailed an interesting if viewed up close.
A.D.I.D.A.S - Korn
All day I dream about space!
I've always been a science nerd. I think about outer space everyday.
"Most people dont think about space"
Well up above true, but space in the home XD
What question is that!? "How often do you think about space" 24/7
Sounds a good event, love to attend but a slight mileage problem
Best of luck with it
this is awesome and yeah i guess other cities are run by people who never saw the milky way once so why let the residents get the chance. it has more meaning than seeing the night sky, it makes people humble and more inspired to move forward.
Sounds like a great event! Enjoy, wish I was there.
I wish I could go to this sooooo bad. We need a Go Fund me for all of us poor bastards that have spent all of our dollars on telescopes, cameras and mounts.
Do not think about space as long as McLaren is doing well in F1.
Sounds awesome! If you ever do this again, professor Fred Watson would be a great speaker. He's local, if there's anything like that in Australia. Check out the Space Nuts podcast. 👍
I love Fred :) he was a speaker at Star Stuff 1 :)
Would love to eventually be able to make it out to an event like that! Some day…

Just catching up on all my meaningless UA-cam video subscriptions. Hoping to attend Star Stuff IV if all the stars align. Thank you for being you!
Hey thanks bro
You Are that kind of guy who shows his astrophotos to everyone at every party, right? Yeah, me too dude! Love your content 😊please invite me to your parties 😅
THEY NEED TO SEE
We practice astrology and cosmetology. Awaiting Dylan's skin routine tutorial.
Hehe

Hehe Parkway eh? 🎸
Must get there one year. Maybe 2026
My Mom use to tell me that my head was in the clouds. No Mom, about 95 miles higher. First view from a scope age 5, first telescope of my own 8 years old. And still going strong at nearly seventy.
Wonderful :)
No moon is the best moon :D
Good one, Dylan! But I thought the whole show was already sold out. What gives?
VIP tickets are sold out (for the dinner), GA tickets are still available :)
Every single day.
As long as celestron sells powerseekers, I will abstain from their events
It’s not celestron’s event.. but I appreciate their support ! ESA is a sponsor too if it helps :)

Completely agree with you. I'm looking forward to the next video.
Is the event being broadcast live online? It would of been good to have that as an option.
There might be one surprise broadcast online :)
I think about Space Rome every day...
Hehe
Great initiative Dylan....
Hi from the UK!
Good luck with your outreach event :)
Alot more than than most.
Almost everyday
Love the way everything is intertwined and co-effected in our Observable Universe.

Awesome!
cool. sounds like a great time. have fun
Thank you.
Really looking forward to it.
NIce!!! 😃
too far, can you come to america? lol
I did once :)
Hey Dylan,
Great video, I think about space all the time from my London U.K bortle 9 light polluted sky.
I hope to go one day so can see the Milky way.
I was very lucky on the evening of May 10th to see the Aurora.
Clear skies ✨️
nice, thx brother
Nice.
Nice
Will it be casted live on UA-cam? 👍🏻✌🏻🇨🇦
Not the main talks, no, sorry!
@@DylanODonnell 😭
Will see you there and can't wait!
♥ Wish i could make it! 🐿
"WATCHER of the SKY"
Genesis song. My (our) passion!
Agreed 100%..."Raising his eyes, beholds a planet unknown"
Read this, and got chills running up my back fellow Prog Rocker! (Album is about to be on my turntable)
❤
Sounds great, just a shame that you have the scammer Trevor Jones in the line-up.
He’s a lovely fella !
