- For the first time in history, the House Natural Resources Committee made a criminal referral with the Justice Department. That’s after a three-year investigation by Democrats revealing evidence of possible donations to the Trump campaign in exchange for federal government approval of Arizona real estate deals. Calling this “egregious,” Rep. Katie Porter tells MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, this shows the importance of Congress “reestablishing the rule of law and the expectation that administration officials are going to follow it.”

Katie Porter is amazing, she is one of the few in Congress who actually has some integrity and a spine. She speaks not only for her constituents but for the American people as a whole. If it came down to it, I would be honored to help elect her as our first female president. She would provide a legitimacy and tenacity the office hasn't seen in many, many years.

Although Republicans went into the redistricting cycle with control over drawing more districts, it is actually Democrats who have gained more ground from the process. So far, redistricting has created seven more Democratic-leaning seats nationally, one more Republican-leaning seat and seven fewer highly competitive seats. This is due to aggressive map-drawing by Democrats in states such as Illinois as well as court decisions overturning Republican gerrymanders in Kansas and North Carolina. The Republicans are braying that they'll take the house and maybe the senate. Don't believe the hype - Republicans are floundering.
