TBH it's such a crime that the only good model kit exia has is the perfect grade. The HG is outdated, the RG could've been perfect if not for that terrible front kick and the MG is also dated. Bandai exia is one of the most popular design in the franchise please give us an HG revive or a MG 2.0
Best part: you don't have to install those frickin' GN cables/ribbons yourself.

I haven't build the mg exia, is it that bad?
The GN cables on MG Exia were most definitely not easy to work with, but I personally think that the MG cables look much nicer. That holographic look really made the extra effort worth it in my opinion.
@@chrisstick5403 well to the MG credit it's still less of a pain in the ass to put on than the RG version due to its larger size. I must admit, I have fat hands.
@@Foxtrot0712-1 I'd say it's one of the worst kit I've ever assembled. The ankles aren't great but the toes make the kit harder to level. The GN cables were a bit tricky to put on, the GN sword doesn't stay on very well after a while and I don't know if it's just my copy or I did something wrong (which I have no idea what because I disassembled and reassembled it many times and still couldn't get it right) the head seem very prone to fall apart. Paints and glue may be needed to make the kit more sturdy.
the head on the metal build looks more line art accurate than the mg. like it actually came out of the show itself

I love the Metal Build Exia proportions more than the MG's. They got thicker thighs and smaller feet. Feels a lot closer to Ebikawa's illustrations

MG HG and EVEN RG exia, heck, PG exia head molds are ALL innaccurate to the anime compared to metal build exia head mold

This was the very first Metal Build I bought for myself long ago when it was first announced. I originally had the MG Exia Ignition mode, but it broke during a small earthquake. Since then, I've been buying Metal Builds every chance I get. Currently very excited for the Astraea Type-X Finsternis.

When i first got into Gundam; i like the 00 more than the Exia.
That changed once i got the RG kits of both MS. The Exia's sleek proportions and aggressive face won me over to liking it more than the 00. So i can agree with what you said at 0:23. The Exia is one of my favourite MS. Same goes for the GN Sword. Such a cool weapon.
The Dragon Momoko version of this came with all the parts for Exia, R1, R2 & R3 and it also came with 2 sets of runners for the blue and red parts. one set is a regular blue and red while the other set is in a shade of lighter blue and pink.
Love your channel man, I grew up on the zoids kits my dad used to “buy for us,” and I kinda just grew up and forgot all about them. Until I ran into your channel and bought an MG Sazabi.. After that it was game over.. Literally threw $2000 in one day on several kits.. Thank you for ruining my life for the better! Much love 🤍
I don't know if anyone will ever read or find my comment but -- it should be noted that the re-released edition (2016) / or any new Exia variants except the trans am Exia metal build, fixed the existing face sculpt and some apparent issues on the waist (slightly slanted) found in the original 2013 release. Both are using the red bandai logo at the time too so the only differences you could find on the box is the copyright on the left, which left out "MBS" on the 2016 edition 👀
Got an MG Exia quite recently, blue Bandai logo and all, and while it felt alright for maybe a couple of weeks, but now it’s difficult to find a pose that he can actually hold, those ankles are just so wonky.

@@nameputhpong9041 Haven't done any painting but just tried some nail polish on the ball joints at the ankles. It made them feel a little better but trying to get a neutral standing pose even now it'll still fall over. Another point of weakness is at the peg that connects to the hip joint, the peg itself is rather short and the left one on mine seems to fall out quite easily, so keep that in mind too.
@@misbehaven1237 yea i can tell the exia has its problems and i'm just wondering if they're really THAT bad or if it just demands a bit of work and effort. In any case, i'm glad my favorite is the 00 [Qant], which just objectively has the best, easiest kits.
I'm glad you're getting more into the MB and GFFMC and high end Gundam figures. I've got almost the entire line of these and can't go back to MG kits. The quality is just excellent and their resale value stays high. When I get old I can sell them easy, but built kits are almost impossible to resell. For anyone who has never held one of these in hand, I really recommend investing in one, just for the experience.
People don’t buy MG kits (or HG/PG/etc kits) because of their resale value. They buy kits because they enjoy the build process. Whereas Metal Builds are figures and you don’t build them. So they don’t appeal to builders.
I have, and enjoy, both. But personally I don’t buy either of them for their resale value. I don’t generally intend to sell them.
@@NimbusCumulus That's fine too, collect what you enjoy. However I already have over 100 Gundam kits, what am I going to do with them when I turn 70 years old? At least with the figures, I can sell them and recoup $10K+ and take that money and go on a vacation with my wife after retirement. The models will end up in a box one day and rot away after I die.
I just gotta say, along with the Seed line, the 00 designs are my absolute all-time favourite, with Iron-Blooded Orphans coming in third
Not gonna lie those 3 series where very revolutionary with the design aspect in terms of Gundams. Seed managed to make blocky looking mobile suit, yet at the same time have a bit more modern feel to it. Then 00 goes full force with their more angular and sharp design, just sad that in S2 those design had to be cut down for animation. Then IBO with their more demonic esque design, especially when you consider that the Gundams there aren't even remotely human looking like most Gundams out there
If you are doing to do more Metal Build reviews, i would love you to review the Metal Build Gundam Freedom Concept 2 or the Metal Robot Spirits Gundam Barbatos Lupus or the Gundam Bael.

Got this around the time when Metal Build was somewhat affordable. I had to because I frickin love Exia.
it's looks so cool! Wish I could afford something like this. The MG was difficult to build and lots of it pops off.
13:48 Looks like Mecha missed out the foot and ankle articulation. Which was a weak point with the MG but not really a problem with this Metal Build.
Some of the joints on the MB Exia do tend to become loose over time. My MB Exia has loose hip and waste joints and I believe others have similar issues. However, the MB does look better than the MG.
My MG exia doesn't fall apart, and quite steady when doing poses without stand, maybe you shouldn't put those ball joints roughly on those legs to avoid the loosing issue, yes i can say that it's not that solid as other double O MG gunplas but mine is doing pretty well, i will still recommend to buy the MG kit despite of some bad reviews, it's not that bad and i'm enjoying posing, taking photos and displaying it.😁👍
Sounds like it’s very hit or miss, mine was good for a few weeks but more recently it hasn’t been able to stand straight without falling over after a while. I think the ankle-to-lower leg ball joint connection is also to blame for most people’s troubles because it makes for another moving part that really isn’t needed.
I like the subtle red sheen on the blues. I have a fountain pen ink that have the same effect.

The overall exia design reminds me of a bullfighter. The blades being like banderillas and the shield like the bullfighter cloak. Just not red

Neat video, but I feel it’s a little irresponsible to portray the Metal Build as being a replacement for the MG. These are 2 completely different kinds of products. Metal Builds are not model kits. And that’s not even taking into consideration the ENORMOUS price difference. You buy a whole squadron of MG Exias for the amount of money (1) Metal Build would run you.
Personally I love my mg exia. Just a tiny bit of top coat on the ankles and no issues whatsoever not sure why everyone craps on that kit so much

Metal Build and NG 1/100 exia are both better option than the MG and you can use some of the accessories of MG on NG

The logos and graphics are already printed on like any action figure. No stickers. For $200+ it better be done right.
As mentioned, all the decals are already applied. It’s a figure, not a kit, and it comes fully painted, with decals added, and a top coat applied.
