I remember seeing this movie when it first came out. All of a sudden they stopped the movie, the lights went on, and there comes Sonny and Cher walking down the aisle on the right. They got on the stage and talked to us. We were thrilled!!!
We had moved to Austin, Texas from a small town. I loved Sonny & Cher and they were coming to town with this movie. My Mom dropped me off downtown, I stood in line with my ticket and then watched this movie. I was mesmerized by all it being a small town kid. At some point, Sonny & Cher appeared. Sonny did most of the talking about the movie. It didn't last long. Postcards were given out and I remember it being in my Mom's closet with my Barbie's and other keepsakes. Along the way, it somehow disappeared. I've never seen one since.
It's not so much about the acting, but the visible artistry. It's captures the sign of the times. Not just Hollywood, but the overall outlook that Hollywood had saw back in 1967.
That’s what I really appreciate about it most. It captures a feeling and a time that’s long gone and never coming back. Hollywood had an entirely different outlook 56 years ago. They were willing to experiment and gamble on movies like this.
I also have been searching for this film- thanks sooooo much. nostalgic and still fun. Cher was my 12 year self's icon! I wish a certain clothing company known for ready to wear, good prices, and boho Z something would copy some of Cher's outfits that black and white polka dot coat faux fur cost YES!
I saw this on late night television around 1972 when I was 10. Yet in just five short years the movie looked, to my eyes, incredibly outdated. I felt like I was watching an episode of the The Monkees without the Monkees. But in 2023 I’ve come to really enjoy and appreciate it for the wonderful time capsule it is.
Never heard of this movie until a few years ago, and even the Sonny & Cher bio's said it was a bad movie so I was not interested until I watched William Friedkin talk and said he directed it, watched it and absolutely think it's a great and funny movie! Thank You so much for posting Classic Movie Lover 👍
It took so long to produce that by the time it was ready to be released Sonny and Cher has fallen out of the limelight and were considered “uncool”. So this film, although good, was panned by audiences and didn’t see a worldwide release.
+Greg Boardman Band William Friedkin, who was the director on this movie (this was his first feature film as director ... he did documentaries before this) ... Friedkin has said that most of the writing was done by Sonny (and himself) even though they did not receive any screen credit for the writing. Freidkin has called Sonny a genius on several occasions (in interviews and in his memoirs [where he devotes 2 pages to how Sonny wrote his songs]) ... “I've worked with many talented people, but only a few geniuses. One of them was Sonny Bono.” (quote from his memoir “The Friedkin Connection”) The basic concept of having a 'series of movies within a movie' so Sonny and Cher could play both themselves and characters was Nicholas Hyams idea but he didn't do much on the actual writing of the script.

I came here for reviews of the movie considering rotten tomatoes gave this A ZERO % score 😳
@@sunnyhawthorne8433 imdb and tomatoes hate comedies.

Thank you it’s been a long while since I saw this thanks for sharing it.
20 years later she won an oscar!
she didn't deserve it
J'aurais commencé par la chanson !
Directed by William Friedkin. He later directed The Exorcist.
and the french connection
Good film 🎥
Thank you for this!
When I was a little kid in the 70s, I thought Cher was so beautiful. Especially with her flat, tan midriff in those bob mackey gowns.
I didnt realize Sonny and Cher made a movie, and Friedkin was the director!
Funny and cute never seen this before or heard of this!
The little kid with the gun did the original voice for Charlie Brown
He ended up going to prison for stalking someone...
This movie actually is very good I think it should be rereleased
?? It was released in 1967 and then later VHS tape and DVD.
@@dannydougin3925 and it sucked then, when KHJ WAS BOSS RADIO, and still sucks now!
59:11 wakey wakey Sonny
Separated at birth? Sonny Bono and Johnny Ramone! Hmmmm?
5:01 the french connection beginnings
Was it a prototype for Monkees "Head"?
Não tem legenda não? 😢😢😢😢
Ich liebe die ganz alten Filme mit Cher, gibt es den Film irgendwo auf Deutsch auf DVD?
Auto captions please
