  • In this Summertime Episode of the Little Things, we sail into unfamiliar waters and view the alien marine and fish species of the Star Wars Galaxy. Many aquatic creatures have been featured in various Star Wars media throughout the years, including the book The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide, but many species are also featured in the new Jedi Survivor video game, and, of course, in toy form. Especially the marine species featured in the Sea Creatures Battle Bags that were produced by Hasbro for the Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace film. Let's dive deep into these bags and harpoon a few strange and exotic fish species while staying cool in the heat of the suns of other worlds. Let's look at the Marine Creatures of Star Wars and the Sea Creatures Battle Bag Toys Sets!

    Man.... It may be nearly a quarter century now, but I still remeber getting 3 of those battle bags. The funny smell still lingers..... Thank you for that trip down memory lane.😊

      I remember all of the hype leading up to Episode 1. The battle bags were one of the first things I looked at when I walked in a Toys R Us to look at the "new" Star Wars stuff. The roll-out, the anticipation, and the merchandising was a good time. Also, I really like monster toys. 😜 Thanks for watching!

    🎶"Do, re, mi, fa, so, la, ti, do!"🎶 They *just about* got every one.
    A lot of these look like they were thrown whole onto the backyard grill. Thank you!!

      Star wars is playing musical fish. Well, let's throw another Mee on the barby. Now I'm really thinking about getting some seafood tonight. Hmmmmm 😒 Thanks again for watching!

      I forgot about them until I was playing that game. I got the one of the fish and thought, "hey, I've seen that before". Looked it up and it brought back all of these memories of the summer of 1999. There was some pretty neat toys offered in that merch roll-out. Thanks for watching!

    Other featured aquatic species in SW include the amphibian "Gorgs and Chubas", seen in Ep.1 TPM in the street markets on Tatooine and when Jabba starts the podrace and Ep.6 ROTJ in Jabbas snack bowl, the semi-aquatic "Aiwhas" as seen in Ep.2 AOTC on Kamino being ridden by the Kaminoans, the "Keelkana" ridden by Mon Calamari Knights, "Moappa" hive-minded jellyfish, and "Whaladon" where all three seen in the 2003 Clone Wars series at the Battle of Mon Calamari, the "colossal swamp slug" as seen in Ep.5 TESB on Dagobah that swallowed R2-D2, the "Paar's Ichthyodont" as seen in the Holiday Special that Boba Fett rode in his debut appearance, and of course the "Dianoga" as seen in Ep.4 ANH in the water of the trash compacter. I'm sure that there are more out there that are obscure, but what I've listed here are those I could think of off the top of my head that come from the George Lucas era of Star Wars; thank the maker I have a pretty sizeable Star Wars reference library! MTFBWY!

      Absolutely! Man, I love those aquatic creatures from the Star Wars Universe. I really enjoyed The Wildlife of Star Wars book by Whitlatch and Carrau. I would like to see an updated version by the same people. There was a lot of imagination and heart in it and it was a fun read. Thanks for the comment!

      @@thelittlethings3309 You're most welcome! I'll have to see if I can find a copy of that wildlife book you mentioned to add to my SW library!

    I have that 3.75 inch scale "Opee Sea Killer", and it's a really cool creature model! One day I hope to get a scale accurate Bongo Gungan submarine to go with it! I've always liked collecting the SW creatures/monsters to go alongside my action figures and vehicles; I like to tell a story with them! I also have the slime-emitting Jabba the Hutt, along with several of TPM action figure line-up; I always liked that they came with those transparent microchip stands included with the characters that have recorded messages/sounds on them when you use them with the comlink reader!! I also have one of the STAP vehicles for the battle droid army, and I also have a big Micro Machines Battle Droid head that transforms into the interior of the Trade Federation droid control ship that Anakin blows up!

      Nice! The Creatures were always one of the best things about Star Wars and was a focal point back in the early 1980s. Personally, I loved and still enjoy monster and creature toys, and I think it was the reason I was so attracted to the LJN D&D line back in the day. Thanks for watching!

    A lot of actual deep sea creatures are just as bizarre as these fictional creatures.

      @thelittlethings3309  Рік тому +1

      I totally agree with that. I like watching the videos of the deep sea exploration or just the ones taken from the oil platforms that show deep sea life. Good times. Thanks for the comment!

      @@thelittlethings3309 I have a pretty severe phobia of most aquatic creatures, and, I have to abashedly admit I needed to look away from the screen a couple of times during your vid. And, um, yell at those monsters a little. 😂😂 ( Dunno what dianoga has to complain about; I'm still called "trash monster" til this very day!!) 😂
      Yet rationally, I still find them equally fascinating and as awesome as any other animal. Cuttlefish are one of my favorite creatures!

    • @thelittlethings3309
      @thelittlethings3309  Рік тому +1

      The cuttlefish are great. Just don't confuse the name to mean they are "cuddle fish". They don't like that very much. Also, I think that Trash Monster was just the dianoga's name in his youth as part of a garage band. He's grown beyond that now 😎. Thanks for watching even though the creatures were somewhat...discomforting. Maybe we can think of it as a form of therapy. Hey, these videos serve a purpose after all!

      A lot of people missed these (including me) at the time but the creatures have always been one of the best things about Star Wars. Thanks for watching!
