- Here is how I use a Personal Kanban Scheduling Board to manage my day-to-day tasks and long term work projects. Every board looks different - configure yours to remove waste from your daily processes!
Very helpful. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. 👍
This is really helpful. I’ve been trying to adapt Kanban as a faculty member now working from home and this is really inspiring.
Glad it was helpful!
I haven't figured that out yet ....because I line up the DONE tasks, I get a sense of the task role/family that has been getting the most attention/activity: looks like a sideways bar graph.
One of the benefits of having the DONE stickies is that I sometimes think of a task .... and I can't remember if I have completed it already - so I can look at the board. I'm thinking that to get rid of the stickies, I should throw away the REALLY DONE tasks ... and keep the RECENTLY DONE tasks.
This is Awesome!!! Thank you so much for sharing!! What are the supplies did you use? Like what kind of tape is it? Also, what are those colored rectangles at the beginning of the rows made of.
Tape: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072Q2WQT7 ..... and the colored rectangles are just post it notes that I cut into the shape of a rectangle!
Great Video! Thank you. I’ve been looking at different P.K.’s and found that your method applies to me the most since I have different job roles. Question: I’ve heard that a Personal Kanban is a great way to see where your time goes. Do you have a method in which you archive all your done tasks or do you just throw your completed tasks (stickies) away?
I love that dispenser for your paper/post its. Where did you get it?
Scrap wood from the garage .... a few nails .... white paint ..... white contact paper on top.
Just like Lean - No cost or low cost!!
This is an AWESOME Board!
Congratulations !!!! And Thank you for inspiring !!!
What is the meaning of each color ?
What the ORANGE SCM 3301 and the YELLOW SCM 4367 means ?
Those are my "value Streams." SCM3301 SCM4367 are two classes that I am currently teaching (at the time of the video). All tasks related to these classes appear in that color. The other colors represent other "buckets" of tasks that create value in my job: Recruiting Supply Chain Majors, Personal Kaizen, etc.
Additionally, this same color scheme is repeated throughout my office .... so every item in my office that is related to SCM 3301 is labeled in Orange. This makes it VERY easy for me to identify items that are needed for specific tasks.
A video of my most recent office configuration is forthcoming .... stay on the lookout for it!
@@BradleyMillerLeanKaizen nice! really thanks! i cant wait for the next video!
What size is your Kanban board
4 x 6 .... maybe .... something like that.
Hi there. Beautifully done, but I can’t quite see what you’ve written in that narrow white center divider. You have some notes and some arrows, but could you please tell us what you’ve put there? Also, you’ve been using this system for awhile; is there anything that you’d change were you to do it over again? Thanks for sharing your method!
It is my task "flow".... The arrows show that task move from "inventory" to "on-deck" to "in process kanban" .... can move backward to "waiting" and on to "complete." Just trying to show the process that tasks go through to be completed visually.
Bradley Miller Thank you. I’ve been looking into lots of variations of organizational task boards and your setup is, by far, the most effective and clear for dealing with a variety of projects covering multiple timeframes and concerns in a clear and efficient method. I’m using it to help with my mother’s dementia: treatment options, family concerns, endless questions, legal concerns, estate issues, finances, etc.. Dealing with another person’s end-of-life care is a confusing, confounding job unto itself and needed to be tackled in a systematic, thorough way. My family thanks you for sharing!
Thanks for your feedback! My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I'm so glad that Lean is useful for more than just "work!"
