Back in the day Arguel's blood fast was one of my favorite draw engines and also cards to try and flip in commander. The fact that they printed this commander is so cool, and it's so well designed. I'm just endlessly, endlessly sad I can never play this Arguel legally in paper. Alchemy can make cool cards, it's just really upsetting you can't play them anywhere except Arena.
I never realized Smeagol was a Halfling, but that was indeed a funky cool interaction with the Throne
Watching that Isshin player was painful. He had lethal with the Mount Doom activation but was too focused on playing the cards in their hand.
We've all been there
Been playing Arguel as a general black/white control commander with subthemes of sacrifice and value off sacrifics, but mostly control, and having almost nothing but creatures that want to die such as Edgar, and Bat god, it's so fun.
Shame so many of the stable removal cards in brawl are exile these days :c
Would Mirror Box work to ramp black mana with a bunch of Temples of Aclazotz, due to how many times you sac Arguel on the regular?
As long as you never choose not to transform it, you can keep stacking them up with a mirror box and play. Once you have both permanents, you're getting the tokens whether you want them or not

@@HejC8xmRICWgUCj1dhPvhTFX That would be an interesting way to build the commander though! Just because something isn't the traditional/expected way to build a deck doesn't mean it can't work :)
It might be sorcery speed, but Recommission might be a good white two drop for this deck. It renanimates Arguel and puts a +1/+1 counter on him when he enters!

How do you get your decks to work so well? Been trying for months to get better at the format, but my Brawl decks never seem to work the way I want 😢
Just the right amount of broken good stuff to supplement the trash I want to play
Am I wrong or opponent playing Isshin deck had played exact 0 cards that will use his ability?
I feel like I might be alone in this but I kinda like the silly or broken Alchemy cards they've been playing with. Seems like a good format for that.
Some are definitely more fun than others. I personally like Crucias when he isn't being used to combo
@@Amazonian you're not wrong - Crucias also seems much more reasonable after the nerf. I feel likewise about Poq, though I'm sure that card will be nerfed to be less silly eventually as well (just make the lands tapped, sheesh).
@@Amazonian oh, the other half being that so many of these silly cards are _so_ much more palatable in a singleton + 100 card format
They might be a little too strong right now, but I personally love playing with Poq. Half the time it's just janky ramp, other times it's super explosive and overwhelming, but even just playing a fetch land, getting two of them, then cracking one on the opponent's turn, and getting a second land from the fetch is just so satisfying.
