Ali, this is fantastic!! You're so cute! Whenever I see someone sniff their journal, I feel momentarily more normal. :) And the "shoving crap just out of camera frame" thing? Yeah, I totally do that. A lot.
Yes! Please share!! :) I did find a personal sized pocket at WOOCOOideas on etsy. It hasn't come in yet, but I will totally do another video of my Mr. Darcy when it has the pocket and yellow paper house inserts in it. So y'all can see the quality and size of the personal size. :)
I would love to see how you do your homeschool schedule. I love the idea of the pull out. I need something to carry on the go and my home school planner is HUGE!!!
+Julie Garza THANK YOU!!!! So happy you got a MD! It's a great leather. I just purchased a violet a6. I am really loving that size now. Poor Mr. Darcy. haha! ;)
TheLittleInk OF COURSE! My boys remember when I would just sit at your channel watching your creative genius! I love the inking and tip-ins! You will always be the tip-in queen, of course, but you totally inspired me! xoxo
Oh, my gosh, you are awesome!! Thanks for sharing, and letting your personality shine through!! I'm definitely going to watch whatever videos you make!! :-D
Thanks so much for the book recommendation from a sister Sparrow lover! I have two looking for another. 😊 would love to see any videos you want to share on your other midair and how you printed your inserts. Love your personality!
Ayanna Mitchell Aw, thanks!!! And sure to more videos! I'm writing down a bunch of video ideas for my journals, nail art, homeschool and other fun stuff. I kind of dabble. So hopefully people won't feel too whiplashed on my channel. ;)
Kim Huschke One of the BEST books I have read...besides THE Book, of course. I am going to be using one of the inserts in my Mr. Darcy to write my gifts down! I just did a repost of an older blog entry because it's a beautiful reminder... alibrownphoto.com/2015/07/03/rediscovering-the-lost-art-of-thanks/ :)
Very cute video; TYFS! could you please do an insert setup? I guess I'm trying to "get it" and like the full calendar idea too; so any direction would be appreciate. TIA, Cynthia
Cynthia Hey there! Thanks so much for responding! Did you want to see how the inserts are actually printed out? Or just how I go about organizing what I want in each insert? Or just my ramblings about how amazeballs travelers notebooks are and the whole point of having a bunch of different inserts in a piece of leather? Just want to make sure I'm helpful in answering your question. Thanks again! xoxo
Ali Brown Hey Ali, yes everything; printing and all LOL. I'm still learning and I have had a small field note size crème brulee for sometime now and would like to get some use out of it either way LOL. I have no printer and would have to go to Office Max but would like more clues on your full layout but the full classic calendar for sure where you start to discuss it at 9:33 and all from there. TIA Hugz!
Hi Ali, Loved your video. Thanks for sharing. Was wondering how you go the Classic Monthly in personal size. I didn't notice it on DIY Fish site. I sent her an email to see if she had it. I wasn't sure if you shrunk the regular classic size monthly. Thanks :)
+Katico67 Oh my goodness! SO SORRY for the late reply! For some reason, I am not getting my notifications from all the videos. :/ So yes, I shrunk down the classic size by 82% and then trimmed. :) I have a video coming out soon on how I print out my "Frankenstein' inserts. HAHA! ;)
you are such a hoot!! i adored your video!! the way you used the ink pads on the inserts- genious! oops i think i spelled that wrong. anyway, make more videos, i cant wait!! i am using personal Mr Darcy too
pikachooie Thank you!!! . Those inks are the Tim Holtz distress inks. :) And that inking was totally TheLittleInk's idea. You gotta go check her videos out. I love her freedom in creativity! I filmed a couple more vids, but just need to edit. So stay tuned...there should be more. Hopefully I can keep it up. ;)
This is the first video I have watched of yours and I.am hysterically laughing and happy! I have found a kindred spirit and wonder where you are from? The reason? We talk alike, using the same words lol. You seem to get excited when you talk like I do and its just funny to hear someone else do that. Thanks for the video and the info. I used to be an avid scrapbooker too and know all about the crap in the way and how you research google when you're interested in something. I can wear the keys out on my computer figuring out everything. Thanks again.
Kim Cooley That's so funny, Kim! I was born and raised in a suburb of Atlanta, GA, lived in OK for a tiny bit, lived in Montana for 8 years and have lived in San Antonio, TX for the last 5 years. :)
I loved this video so much. I am just getting into the travelers' notebook game, and your video is so helpful and cute! I feel like we could be besties - I'm in love with my Chic Sparrow creme brulee! Planners unite!!
You aren't late to the game at all!!! I'm still trying to figure out what I want to try first, so I'm slowly going through videos to see if I can figure out what to try first for next year. :)
You know what's kinda funny? I don't participate in One Book July anymore. *GASP* I did a couple years ago (at the time of this video) and last year I didn't. I use one book for my planning and journaling but I have another for art and I just can't not use it. So...not more OBJ for me. :( But it's still so fun to watch other people's videos. I have another challenge coming out that I'm really excited about for journalers. Stay tuned! :)
I will! I found your channel as I was looking into which Chic Sparrow to try (hopefully I'll decide by the end of the year), and I have a weird habit where I want to watch all the existing videos in a channel before subscribing, so I'll be around for your next challenge (hopefully all caught up). :P If I had that many journals, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to stick to one book. I like to keep things separate, so the one book challenge is interesting to look at, but it probably isn't a challenge for me, since I tend to have small random notebooks around for me to jot stuff down.
Great video; thanks for sharing! Yeah, I always push tons of junk just out of view so it looks like I have an immaculate table, haha...the perfect crime!
My camera is pretty accurate but please note that this color patinas QUICKLY. Look at this video to see the comparison of how it aged: ua-cam.com/video/qLV_po_CUq4/v-deo.htmlm7s
Absolutely loved this! I noticed on your blog post you talked about using distress stains on your pages? How do you freakin' do that!? I've seen it all over youtube! Is it just watercolor on the page or is something else? Haha! Thank you!
Hey there!!! It's a product from Tim Holtz called Distress Stain. It is basically an already mixed watercolor in a bottle that you wipe on your pages. Sometimes Joanne.com has sweet sales on these and you can get them for around 3 bucks a bottle. All sorts of fun colors! :)
Asia Cruise You won the 'THANK YOU Giveaway!" :D Email me your address to ali@alibrownphoto.com and I will send you an envelope of goodies. If you didn't know I was havin' a contest, I start talking about it and showin' some goodies at 5:25 of this video ua-cam.com/video/fN2mkI9mAk8/v-deo.html Thank you so much!!! xoxo
Hi Ali, I am wondering if you know someone who will print diyfish for people. I have a really crappie printer and I just know that it won't work right. I'd rather pay someone to do it.
Too bad CS doesn't make Ali Browns Joy any more. I'm new at bullet journaling so I am late in the game. 😞 So I purchased a Mr Darcy in buttered rum instead. Thanks for all the info.
I'm sorry!!! That is such a fun color!!! Maybe you can stalk the buy/sell page on Facebook and see if you can snag one? They go pretty quick if anyone ever sells theirs. :(
Your style of narrating is completely refreshing. Needless to say, I enjoyed the video, you have a great set-up. Making the first video is always the hardest, and then it's just fun! I'm all over the personal midori myself and diyfish too. Check my channel out if you get a minute.
SingleMomWitCurlz Thanks so much! I'm really enjoying my setup. Seems to be working awesome! And I'm having SOOOO much fun! I'll pop over to your channel! Thanks so much for stopping by! xoxo
Ali, this is fantastic!! You're so cute! Whenever I see someone sniff their journal, I feel momentarily more normal. :) And the "shoving crap just out of camera frame" thing? Yeah, I totally do that. A lot.
Carie Harling Thank you!!! Haha! Yes! The crap is pretty much just making a cycle 'round the room. ;)
Yes! Please share!! :) I did find a personal sized pocket at WOOCOOideas on etsy. It hasn't come in yet, but I will totally do another video of my Mr. Darcy when it has the pocket and yellow paper house inserts in it. So y'all can see the quality and size of the personal size. :)

I ADORE that book by Ann Voskamp! It's brilliant and really opened my eyes to being Thankful.

+Michelle Wolf (CupCakeWolf) Hey there! This is the delicious Buttered Rum! :)

So how did you put multiple months together of your diyfish inserts? If I do that my dates are off because it's booklet format.
+Stephanie Childress I make each booklet and then sew them together. :)
