4:11 Very Nice! I love when America doesn't knock down every last historical gem just to put up condos. This place is a monument to how long that town has been around.
Peoria is actually a great city. Yes, there are parts of the city with high crime, poverty , and drug use, but that isn't the entire city. If you read comments about Chicago, Detroit, Atlanta, or any other major or medium sized city you will find negative comments as you do here. I think it's important to have pride in where you come from and though i'm not from Peoria, I have been to the city numerous times and there are residential areas that are really beautiful. Not to mention it has as many amenities (i.e theater, restaurants, museums, etc) as some of the larger cities and isn't remotely as bad as many of the comments written below. I would stay away from the south end, that's where you will find a majority of the crime. If you are college educated or have employable skills you should do just find in P-City.
Employable skills like relatives in white collar positions maybe. They taxed away Caterpillar. That and the Union getting to big for their britches, striking for dumb reasons.
I dont know what drug you are taking ? I lived there my whole life and I had to move away a few years ago! no grown, no opportunities unless you are Caterpillar and OSF - even then, that is it - You get min wage but the taxes and the cost of living in that F...d up state will drain you - You pay for Rain Water if you own a home.. You are assessed based on the square footage of your home - I know people paying nearly 40.00 a Month for a Rain Water Tax... Then lets not forget the Sewer bill at 60.00 , and your water bill + 33 surcharge.. So folks that make over 100K a year are really forking out a lot of money when they have nice homes with a 10k a year Tax bill.. But who cares right?? you are making a lot of money and can afford it right ? Well then go listen to the news - Where is all the money going when they cry about pensions / funding and the city willing to forgo a FireDepartment and save 2 milliion a year. That is insane!! Your view of peoria is limited because you only visit but look at the folks that live here and the number of people Exiting the state - The only ones wanting to live here are welfare and link card holders and for some f...d up reason Asian people and other cultures such as Folks from India - Maybe its the Caterpillar or OSF jobs because their is nothing else here other than potholes and shootings!
@Joshua Schnoor maybe but if you know how to carry yourself shouldn't have no issues. I have been to Mexico and off the beaten path.. wanna talk about scary. Peoria ain't that bad. It sucks but aslong as you know how to act you be fine anywhere
Lots of Tartarian structures here! The mudflood is quite apparent in Peoria Illinois too. We have lots of wildlife in the city as Peoria has spread out and left a lot of empty lots where racoons and deer hang out. There is probably an underground train line that is unofficially recognized and long ago sealed up but some of these builds would undoubtably have a sub basement than you can punch through to discover Tartarian - pre-reset riches! Buildings are cheap in Peoria - discover why this is one of the first cities to be settled after the reset!
Moved here from Puerto Rico 4 years ago. Never had any problem, not much different from some areas in San Juan. Of course, if you’re into drugs and shit it’s obvious that you’re going to have trouble...in any part of the world.
I was born and raised in Peoria. Peoria does have some things to offer but the crime and loud music from cars traveling throughout the city are definitely not something people that lived there or live there want to deal with. I only go back to visit friends and when I’m there I do enjoy going to the stores and restaurants that only unique to Peoria. I moved out in 2007 and just can’t imagine myself wanting to move back.
David: Richard and I went to the same high school, Manual High, although I did not know him as he was about 5 years older than me, and I think he actually quit school and did not graduate.
I used to live in East Peoria and my Grandpa used to work at Four Points. I loved watching Rivermen games with him as well. I also saw Journey at the Civic Center in 2011.
I am happy I left. It got old, they wanted to build the Civic Center, and put it to the voters. Each time we would get all the hype, and 3 times it got voted down. They built it anyway. They wanted a new jail. 3 times voted down, they built it anyway. Peoria is going to do what the politicians and their "Friends" want to do, and the voters do not have any say in it. Caterpillar went from 22,000 employees to 12,000. My friend worked there 10 years. He got his 10 year pin, and 4 hours later they came around and gave him his layoff notice. Peoria had put a massive amount of money in the Harrison Homes projects. Then they tore them down. My parents grew up in Peoria. My Grandfather built his home near Starr and Folkers. The house is still there, last time I was there, but some areas look like a war zone. There are a lot of good people that still live there, but I am glad I am not one of them. All in all, Illinois politics are something you just do not need.
Kutzbill: My family moved to Peoria when I was 5 years old and I left when I was 38, but I regret leaving, but as they say "you can't go back." I miss it so much, I miss the snow and the changing seasons, as I live in Houston now. I have a lot of good memories of Peoria. I remember as a child just sitting at a window and watching the beautiful snow fall. We lived mostly in the south end of Peoria and moved around quite a bit. We lived in the Harrison Homes in the 50's as we were poor and a family of 6 kids. My mom and dad got a divorce after we moved to Peoria and he left my mom to raise 6 kids. We had to go on ADC. You say they tore the Harrison homes down? Where did the people who lived there move to? Also, I think the poor, the crime, and drugs are mostly everywhere. I just think we should try to help whenever we can.
Lets address some of your points; the Civic Center being built was a good thing it's brought in a bunch of money to the city and surrounding area. Since when is a new jail a bad thing? I don't see your point here. Politics is Politics, I didn't like the fact that Peoria raised the age to buy cigarettes to 21 doesn't mean its a bad place. A company making the tough decision to do a layoff wave has nothing to do with the city it's in. If you know anything about the Harrison Homes you would know that they were built in the 40's and were so outdated it was almost hazardous to live there All cities and towns have their bad areas, it's unfortunate but how is it the cities fault that people do bad things. Again Politics is Politics I don't agree with a lot of Illinois politics but that doesn't mean there aren't good places and people in the state.
Peoria is a big sh..t bag and the city officials love to sugar coat it - Why do you think Caterpillar moved out o fPeoria ? it is just a slow process and before you know it - they will have pulled out of IL - I am surprised they still have downtown facilities and now - OSF is taking over a lot of downtown.! Peoria is a disaster and people just want to comment about how great it is in taht area! no , NC, TX, TN, FL, SC, GA.. Now those are MUCH better, more prosperous, and LIFE!!!!! You can do things, you can feel happy and plentiful! Believe me, I love the beach, my little bikinis, my night out on the town and feeling like I have a purpose in life with friends and my career! Peoria - all I have is shootings, weed, meth labs, and Potholes that f... k up my car!
Take from someone who lives there now, it can be fun.... for a bit. There a much better places to be. I won’t stop people from coming, just know what your truly getting into
Want to really know what Peoria is like? Climb inside of a dumpster and stay there. At least you can't get shot inside of a dumpster. You can get shot inside of a dumpster in Peoria.
U shouldn't be talking shit about Peoria. Peoria is a great place so what is some people aren't nice. U shouldn't be talking shit until u know Peoria history. Stfu

I use to wake up smelling fresh baked bread outside in the morning, from the bakery around the corner. Now, I smell... almost nothing, or, justbthe damn river that needs to be cleaned out.
@@anonymousjohnson976 Peoria is bad due to the out-of-control gun crimes and murders as well as taxes and fees. All the school district cares about is books and forcing babies to become college students. Northwoods Mall is becoming a dead mall, old Peoria south of Forrest Hill Avenue is a food desert. I could go on forever baby! Was born & raised in Peoria and tried for 8 years to move out AND out of Illinois permanently but my plans have failed. 😡
Jess: I'm sad that Peoria has become out of control. I was raised there for most of my life and have good memories. If I could, I would move back, but due to circumstances it is impossible. All cities have murders and crimes.
It's so sad but this isn't the city I grew up in. Most of the city is over run by gang's, and drug dealers. It got so unsafe in in my west bluff neighborhood that I was litterally afraid to walk the streets after dark due to the shootings, and robbery's that seem to occur daily. My family and I eventually relocated to Arizona to escape the violence, and poor schools.
I know exactly how you feel. I moved away at the age of 10 after my familys house was robbed several times. Some times you would go to take out the trash and you'd hear shots a couple blocks away along with all the sirens at night.
Lol everyone's talking about how bad Peoria is. I live really close to Peoria. It's not bad. We have the Chiefs and the rivermen. It's improved over the last few years. 6/10

Moved away 15 years ago. I don't regret it. That place is worse every time I have to go back up there.
My mom from Peoria. Still have a lot of family there but western USA living is way better. Healthier. Less humidity. Not a felony for Marijuana
