Hi Morgan ! Your take on this drink looks so good ! I'm in the process of openning my own coffee shop & i want to have some "signature beverages" on my menu. Some drinks that stands out. I was wondering if you would mind if I incorporate your creation on my menu ? You're giving me so much motivation to persevere & to learn more and more about the world of coffee & i really would be glad if you're down with the idea. 😁 (Oh and sorry if there's any Spelling errors, I speak french so english is sometimes not that easy 😂)
It's called bumble coffee and it's really popular in Russia. So you put ice into the cup, add 2 pumps of caramel syrup, then pour orange juice and a shot of espresso on top. If you'll pour espresso on an ice cube, it wouldn't mix with the juice and you'll see brown and orange layers that remind of a bumble bee
As a human being who's never tasted coffee in my entire life, I am oddly fascinated by your entire channel. 10/10 an amazing channel, 10/10 I feel like an impostor here.
@@CanadianUnicornDeathSquad Starbucks has the option to add a splash of lemonade to our cold brew and just the concept of it always turns my stomach. But since you like it I guess you should know lol

If I might add an idea here for helping with the tonic explosion I like doing this method! I chill my glass, chill my syrup, and let my espresso cool down a bit. However, I do not add ice. Then I like to add espresso and ingredients first. Lastly slowly pouring the tonic water in over the espresso with the glass tilted to mitigate the explosion. If you don't add ice, emulsification doesn't occur as rapidly and helps alot! Also, it means that you get more bubbles in your drink!
I've had this. It's really good, refreshing, and oddly satisfying. At a cafe, house blend espresso, 100% orange juice without pulp, and ice. The first time I had it, I ordered the second cup immediately.

When Shrub syrups were big a few years ago I tried making cold brewed coffee in apple cider vinegar and added the right amount of sugar to make a syrup. No one could get it. It smelled like the best coffee and tasted like sucking on a sour fruit candy + coffee. I can see now that coffee with sweet and sour can be an acceptable flavor profile. Will try:)
Holy crap! Espresso and tonic was my daily driver for quite some time when I saw this espresso and orange juice trend, and enjoyed it. About a month ago I decided to try them together. I generally like peach syrup in espresso and tonic, but was out so tried blood orange syrup, and have REALLY been enjoying it. I was shocked to see you making it. That said, I just have a crappy bottle of syrup. The one you made looks amazing! When I make mine, I use about 7oz of tonic water. I specifically use tonic, not sparkling water. Then I add about 1.5oz of orange juice, 2 pumps of blood orange syrup, and then layer a double espresso on top. It is so good!

Many years ago, I used to get an iced coffee with orange syrup and chocolate syrup at a coffee shop. The orange syrup they had was a great match to their breakfast blend iced coffee.
This is SO timely for me! Yesterday while making a pitcher of cold brew I noticed we have a ton of oranges we'll never eat in time & thought about slicing and adding them in. Think I'll do this intead!
My instinct was to treat this like a cola. So I used your recipe as a base, but I added a wheel of lemon and one of lime and a dash of vanilla. I also cut the star anise in half.
In the summer I make iced coffee with Korean yuja cha in it (yuja cha is citrus fruit made into a jelly that you stir into water to make tea, it's a lovely hot drink in the winter especially if you have a cold!). I mix about a tablespoon of it with just enough hot water to dissolve then add it to my iced coffee. My local Walmart has a big jar for about $6, so it could be worth trying for anyone who doesn't want to make a simple syrup on their own.

Blood orange was a perfect choice they have a more complex orange flavor that’s undeniably orange. Another great addition other than spices is dark chocolate; conveniently also an excellent pairing with espresso. It’s sooo good.
Espresso tonica is my absolute favorite! I do use lemon syrup, tonic and espresso, so it is quite sweet but so delicious and summery! Will have to try with oranges
