    I purchased this machine and there is nothing complicated about this machine. I love it!! As far as the tension goes, there is a tension release button that you have to press to release the tension

  • @kjcraft86
    @kjcraft86 7 років тому +5

    Saw another review and it says that you should push the tension button to release the thread. Also, I see a lot of the comments about why not buy a cheaper machine. The one benefit to this one is that they do have a special area for the paper fibers to collect and so you can clean it out. If you run paper on your regular machine all the time and don't clean it out, your motor will mess up.

    I too purchased the WRMK Mint Green Stitch Happy Machine from HSN I love it......I think the problems you shared is because it's necessary to read the instructions that comes with as I stitched with Metallic Twine that came with it and did the large zig zag stitch on a 12 x 12 layout and it sewed perfectly. The pamphlets that came with the machine show what size stitch is good for paper and what is good for material. It also shows what the tensions should be set at for which type of material you use.
    Also WRMK has a video sharing how to thread the machine, the bobbin and shows that the little silver tab on the machine how it gets used to loosen the thread so you can pull to cut off the access. So hopefully by now you are enjoying your machine and sewing away...I love my machine and if you purchase the WRMK Stitch Happy Tool kit on HSN it comes with a much larger peddle. I too have the WRMK Black Typewriter and love it and use it for Scrapbooking journaling. I have a regular sewing machine it's a Singer.....but keeping that for material sewing and using the Stitch Happy for my scrapbooking.

      Hi, Joan. I read the pamphlet and watched the video before hand. Off camera, I did the troubleshooting steps. In the end, I had to oil my machine to get it to function properly. The silver tension release was stuck.
      I'm happy you are enjoying your machine and I'm truly thank you that you shared your experience. I believe it will be helpful for others to read. However, I didn't have that experience in the beginning so I stand by my review. It's a beautiful looking machine but I can't say I love it.
      I agree with you on using this machine only for scrapbooking. I plan on doing the same.

    I just got it as a Christmas present. I dont know how to use it but I love the look. It is light weight so it easy to move around. I have broken to Needles already in 3 days of playing with it but I think it's because I don't know how! I dont want to give up, O really want to learn how to use it for my paper crafting. TFS!! ❤

    So far with all of the reviews that I have been through, the machine seems to be over-kill. I also think you are right about the pedal being too small. What were they thinking? It really sounds loud and doesn't run very smooth. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into this new machine. Cute doesn't seem to be a sound reason to purchase it. What size needles does it take?

      As long as people keep running out and buying new products that they see advertised, especially by other crafters, as the "latest thing", and as long as they keep thinking, "I've got to have it", there will be manufacturers producing quick make money junky products that are cheaply manufactured and sold for a lot of money. By the time word gets around that the product is a rip-off, the manufacturers already made their money and ran. It's a marketing tool that is very effective.

    My opinion only. Having worked in Hi-Tech I learned never to order the any item on first release....there are bugs/mfg issues etc. Basically you become the product testers and companies expect to have complaints, or suggestions... they may already be aware they have some issues but it is all about getting to market, especially when ordering products from places like HSN. It is how the companies learn what needs to be improved. I am a firm believer that this is how companies like HSN can sell to the consumer for less.I usually wait a year to see what improvements if any or if the product does not sell well or discontinued.

    I just purchased this machine at Tuesday Morning for $49 - I'm glad I waited & got it now, I want it specifically for papercrafting so I'm hoping it'll be ok. I haven't it tried it yet, been trying to watch videos looking for tips etc - are you still using yours? You've had it for about 2yrs...Regards, Silvana

    I own a sewing machine just for sewing. I would never use it with paper. Just like scissors, your paper can dull your sewing machine needle IMO. And I dont want to spend time changing needles. But I have a pink craftroom & saw a Janome sewing machine on HSN that comes in various colors. You can catch it on sale for $79 sometimes. I purchased a pink one to use for papercrafting. 30 days later Singer came out with new colors too. I loved the pink on Singers and it was $99 on HSN. So I ordered the Singer too. In my opinion...you don't go to a Yugo car dealer to buy a Mercedes. WeR Memories is not a specialist in manufacturing mechanical products. Janome is nice and great machine for beginners or for light sewing. The Janome has enough varying stitches too. Janome is very affordable too. I purchased it just 4 papercrafts myself. And you can't go wrong with a Singer. They have manufactured sewing machines for years. Customer Service great & now they offer a machine in the decorative colors too. They have machines for every price range....and they WORK & LAST! Personally I think WeR Memories is jumping on the craftroom craze of supplying decorative items...that you might use once...but got to have just because of its color. Or its the latest thing. A sewing machine is an investment that you might use to hem something or be a serious quilter. No matter how often you use it...you want it to work. I guarantee 5years from now if you have a problem with your Singer or Janome their customer service will be on the line to help you. I doubt if the typewriter and Sewing Machine will still be offered for sale from WeR Memories hence no one to help you with your problems. I ran into this problem with my Slice die cut machine. A great product, but I would sometimes need to call CS to help me. Same thing with my Cricut Expression I paid $350 for it to be pink. I've used my machine less than 20 xs. But now I can't access craftroom (I can get in, but it won't function with my expression because I hadn't used it for awhile & missed lots of updates. Now Cricut doesn't provide updates on my machine. I can't access my digital cartridges, only the ones I have physically in hand.), because they want you to buy another machine. My Expression works for all my papercrafting needs & was a big investment 4 me. I already own 6 different die cut machines. I still use them all occasionally. I'm not a salesperson for either of these 2 sewing machine manufacturers. I'm just offering my experience and opinion on this item. Bottom line on all MAJOR crafting machinery...1. Buy what you can afford. 2. Buy from a company that will support their product 4 years, even though they have newer products. 3. Don't buy it the first year it becomes available. Wait 6 months or more. The price will drop & the "Got-to-have-it-Nowers" will have found out all the initial problems...and hopefully the manufacturer will have made corrections....if the product isn't junk. But at least you won't have bought that junk...you'll just be able to sit back & read everybody else's complaints. 4. Take a look at what the new product does or looks like that something you already own works the same....that you could already use or alter (paint). Sure you might speed up the cutting time, but unless your using that machine on an assembly line for a business does that really Matter? 5. Finally...Remember there will always be new and better tools coming out. Spend the big money on something you know that will be used more frequently and that you really Love!
    My last major purchase was the Gemini die/embossing machine from Crafters Companion. I purchased it because of the mechanical feed. But another bonus I became aware of after receiving it was the the big plates it came with. I would have to purchase additional long plates for my CB, long Mats for my Cricut & Brother Scan-n-Cut. Not with this thing. It came with many extra mats (magnetic, tin, etc). I can lay all kinds of items on plates to cut at one time. It cuts beautifully, especially detailed dies. And I don't have to hand crank it! Its small enough to set out on my desk too. Yes this was my 6th machine, but I love it...and I use my dies & embossing folders more than ever. I held off on buying this for a long time, but this has been one of the best investments. Plus I dont have to go out and buy every additional accessory to take advantage of all its uses. I use my Slice (small & portable) 4 crops. I use my Scan n CUT to cut out stamped images (I don't have to buy the expensive dies to match). I use my Expression mostly for when I do massive cuts of a single image (50 cupcake toppers or party labels, etc). Since I got the Gemini the Cuttlebug is shelved, but handy for anyone else to use. And I have an old Xyron cutter, that the kids use still. So I'm hoping this is the end of my die cutting purchases. But hey I got a brand new, never used Pink Janome sewing machine for sale and I'm throwing in some thread, an electric bobbin winder (brand new too) and what ever extras I have to get you started for $50. I paid alot more for all this, but I want to get this stuff out of my craft room. 2 sewing machines are more than enough for me. I'm trying to destash stuff I'm not using. Sorry this is long, but when I first saw this machine come out...I honestly felt it would be junk. I hate to see people spend their hard earned craft money on something that doesn't work. I have several WeR Memories tools that I think are good investments and function properly. They are a great papercrafting company. But they need to leave the mechanicals to the professional manufacturers.

      Yeah I wish I would have waited on Singer or Janome. They both make really good machines. I still use my grandmother's singer machines from the 40s/50s and it works great. I agree We R Memory Keepers should reconsider making sewing machines. Thanks for responding.

    Man this makes me nervous! I ordered one and I'm hoping it sews ok for paper. My old machine had super tight tension and started breaking my needles or jamming up. I'd hate to have that problem again. Can I ask what your other machine is called?

    • @Becomingfab
      @Becomingfab  7 років тому +1

      I'm going to keep playing with it and hopefully it loosens up. Thankfully it hasn't jammed or broken any needles. My other machine is a Brother (project runway edition) from about 3 years ago. But for heavy duty projects, I use a Singer Industrial Machine. It's one of the old metal ones from the 40s/50s.

    Your review was really well done and appreciated. I think you were too nice in your review, honestly - the machine looks cheap and not bulit to last in my opinion, based on what I've seen in this video. The pedal is definitely too small and the price is way too high for what it does. They were spot on with the design though. We R Memory Keepers is kind of a hit or miss company - some of their products are awesome and others.. not so much. They probably figured if they sold it as a "crafter's" sewing machine, they could get away with it not being up to par, because everyone knows "crafters" don't sew, right?!

    • @Becomingfab
      @Becomingfab  7 років тому +3

      Hey Krista. I agree. I don't think this was built to last. I found out later they sell a bigger pedal but for the price, we shouldn't have to pay extra for something that is standard.

    • @kristabelle9581
      @kristabelle9581 7 років тому

      I totally agree, that's ridiculous! When you held up the pedal next to the size of your other one - seriously, it was laughable. It did look like it was for a child! Let's hope if they go as far as to make a 2nd version, they will include changing the pedal size in the upgrades! :)

    I admire your sincerity, but don't you find a 3 out of 5 is a high rating? I have watched this company of late make some "beautiful" and expensive so called "craft" machines that are basically cheap plastic JUNK. You say that this machine is good "if you want it because it looks beautiful in the craft room, if that is what we are going for", and maybe some people want that. They should be aware that this machine is flimsy and does not work very well, and as a decoration, it is not small, and it would take up valuable crafting table space. Paper crafters can just buy an inexpensive sewing machine and just make it a "beautiful" cover. They will save money and get better results. Then they can spend their money on more useful craft items and make more beautiful things. Like my mom told me when she saw I had paid $1 for a "beautiful" bookmark at the dollar store, "Why didn't you just use the dollar as a bookmark, that way you can spend it on something more useful in the future." Hahaha

      No, that's not what I'm saying. It would depend on what you're using it for and how often you plan on using it. I will say that if you have $120- $150 (the cost of this machine) to spend and you're looking for your first sewing machine, you can buy a heavy duty Singer or Brother machine off Amazon. This would allow you to sew both paper and heavier fabrics. This machine is not designed for sewing heavy fabrics.

    I’ve heard a lot of complaints about that foot petal. It looks like. Child size. You can sew on paper with any machine, just use a senate needle and keep the lint cleaned off. Paper makes a lot of lint just because it is paper. I’ve sewn on paper for years with no problems at all. One lady said it was cheaply made and very noisy so she took it back. Good she bought it at a local store so she didn’t have to pay a heavy return postage. I’m afraid this machine would turn a child off of sewing. I’m going to buy one for my granddaughter but it will be better quality than this thing She’s 13 and is learning on my Singer and l’d hate for her to have a bad experience after she has come so far. Your reasons for keeping it are really ridiculous because it cost a lot more than extra needles. You want harm your good machine if it’s well made. This one won’t last long l bet.

    They're pretty much selling you how it looks because you can't do much with it. I'll stick to my brother jx2517.

    watched the instructions video just before I watched yours. I think you have to push the little lever next to the tension dial to release the thread after sewing. Here's the link ua-cam.com/video/lmK1erNrh5o/v-deo.html

    Hi there the problem you were having with the tight thread was because you weren't pushing the release button.. here is a video showing how to release the thread

      Hi there. I tried that too. The release was stuck. I had to oil my machine to get it to work :( Thanks for the tip.

      It works okay. I ended up keeping it. Honestly, I like the look of it more than the functionality of it. lol I have a Brother and Singer machine for sewing fabrics. I'm only using this one for paper crafting. Did you order one?

      not yet I'm still looking at it.... but I did find at scrapbook.com that there is another foot pedal that allows for different speeds and a thing that fits over the foot pedal making it non slip..

    Looks like a tension issue, the pedal is definitely too small. Average adult foot is going to cover it.
    To make the card look professional, there should be card bases and card tops so the stitching doesn't show. Were there instructions on how to make a card and to incorporate the different stitches? HHHHhhhmmmm
    I think for the price, you could have purchased a small Brother, or Singer and just dedicated it to paper use. Time will tell.

      Hi Roberta. Yes the pedal is a real problem. I researched it and of course they have an upgraded pedal. I feel like that's a rip off, though. For this price it should be included.
      The card made in the video was to see how the machine worked. I'm not planning on giving it away to anyone. But no, there's not any instructions on how to make a card.

      It does seem a bit of a scam. The card stock, the pedal, and the machine doesn't seem to run efficiently. And I agree, it doesn't seem capable of handling "Leather" it's struggling with paper. I use one of my sewing machines for sewing cards, but I also designate a large needle to card sewing. That's really all that's needed, not an entire machine. The only difference is the use of the "baker's twine" but is it the consistency of the usual baker's twine that you put on cards???

    • @Becomingfab

      What size needle do you use with your cards? I also have a brother machine and I want to compare the two.
      Its a medium weight baker's twine.

      I have a Singer, and a Tailor which is made in Poland (?) and its a heavy duty zigzag machine. I use a size 16 needle and it works perfectly. My Singer is 45 years old and I use a size 16 needle on that also.

      @RobertaSharpe 7 років тому

      I don't usually use baker's twine, just white thread for a more shabby look, so the size 16 works for me. And I usually embellish with ribbon. I really think the whole practicality of this machine should be thought out, and I watched another Crafter, Melody Lane, review the machine and you should see her faux pas....

      Believe it or not the machine has issues. That's probably why all the new shipment dates have been pushed back.
