I love how this shows Crane doesn't even need his gas and toxins to manipulate people's fears. He can get to you with simple words and a long conversation - that's the power of the Scarecrow.
In one comic, Crane convinced a therapist to commit suicide right in front of him just by talking to him. He had no costume or fear toxin, just his intelligence.
@@puffpuffpassmako I’m sorry that it’s been two years but I wanna know which Comic lol Wanna try and find it to read it myself because that sounds like a great read
"I knew it! What was it like? What have you seen???" That, to me, sounds like the heart of a scientist. Despite his cruel practices, Scarecrow really does just want to know the secrets of fear.
"I believe he is quite sane. Just evil." Such a simple line, but I love it. That's what really makes Scarecrow so unique compared to the other Batman villains: he doesn't have a real psychological reason for hurting people. He just does it because he wants to, and that's what makes him terrifying.
The funny thing is that describes a lot of Batman's villains, while they aren't exactly "normal", most of them are fully aware of what they're doing and just don't care, even if maybe they can't care. Being a sociopath is not the same as being criminally insane.
Hugo and Scarecrow would probably have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. I think they'd get along fine, but they'd be secretly plotting against each other.
I'd imagine it would be as DraculaCronqvist said: an epic battle of wits. Or, more specifically, a jerk-off session where the two of them trade insults in an attempt to feed their egos while breaking the other's.
I mean if I had a trained Martial Artist Detective who vists weakly I sure wouldn't mind working there btw the Arkham Secruity is possibly the worst Secruity team ever like did you see the joker he broke out so easily and the doctors can't fix anyone or cure anyone
MrScarechrome In the terms of the story, the voice change is due to Killer Croc tearing up his larynx. In reality, it was just an attempt to make him sound more intimidating. Which it did.
The way he gets to someone just by words and no fear gas is creepy. The only viable way to get to someone is by playing with their expectations and perceptions, once they’ve lost control of their ability to comprehend their rational thought, game over. Jonathan crane is an expert in the study of psychology and can easily break through to know what drives their deepest fears..
@go4moo For me, it'd go: Me: May I have a drink of water? Teacher: I'm afraid not. Me: Interesting choice of words, teach.... Tell me, WHAT are you afraid of? Teacher: *facepalm* you are not Scarecrow, now pay attention. Me: *mumbles* this is what I get for having a teacher that likes Batman...
Me: "Can I get a drink of water?" Teacher: "I'm afraid not." Me: "... Interesting choice of words.. Tell me, what are you afraid of?" Teacher: "Wut." Me: "nothing...."
I liked how Batman used Scarecrow's tactics of making people afraid against him at the end. I can just see Scarecrow's face being filled with fear as Batman told him that Dr. Kellerman fooled him. I don't care how powerful as a villain you can be; there's just certain times where your own tactics backfire in your face.
The only thing I would have done to make the interview more creepy would be, in Interview 3, to have Scarecrow refer to the doctor's children by name the way he referred to the doctor's wife by name.
@vgman94 Depends on what you look to be counted as 'Sane' and 'Insane.' We are all afraid of something. He just goes in-depth about all the everyday things we are afraid of and turns them against us in the worst of ways, but it's true. Deeply rooted in all of our choices is a fear; whether or not we like it, it's there.
@shadowrunt21 yes it was Batman, but not in the period of Arkham Asylum, Arkham Asylum takes place in December 23 and the last interview tape was on Februrary 14, maybe Batman had to go just to stop Crane at that time.
Crane was known to be very lazy when it came to paperwork. It takes awhile to earn a patients trust. Years may go by. If the patient reveals what's wrong right away there's no need for all the unnecessary paperwork. He may have had the same idea you do now, but got the dosage wrong and killed someone. Thus his career was ruined.
Don Messick (Superfriends) set the standard for Scarecrow's voice Jeffery Combs (New Batman Adventures) was the first to perfect it Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) revolutionized Scarecrow This scarecrow seems to be a mixture of those three
Me: Could I please have some water? Teacher: No, I'm afraid not. Me: Interesting choice of words. Now, what -are- you afraid of? Teacher: I don't see why that is important but I am rather afraid of bats. Me: No, teacher. You are the bats and then teacher was a bat!
what i love about scarecrow is that if batman was not the good guy or everything were happening in real life (where the good guy dosen't always win), he would have defeated batman a long time ago.
Oh. Thanks for informing me. I was kinda confused. Well, I still think that they could not fully suit up, as materials on the island were not villain suits. If Scarecrow had his materials, I think he would've looked like this.
I love how this shows Crane doesn't even need his gas and toxins to manipulate people's fears. He can get to you with simple words and a long conversation - that's the power of the Scarecrow.
He also apparently had a form of his toxin in his cologne.
In one comic, Crane convinced a therapist to commit suicide right in front of him just by talking to him. He had no costume or fear toxin, just his intelligence.

Being a sociopath is not the same as being criminally insane.
Scarecrow is a terrorist in the sense that Batman uses fear to overtake criminals. Dr. Crane is a psychiatrist who uses emotions to manipulate people.
@DraculaCronqvist that's so greatly explained. Amazing!! As a child who was constantly picked on and bullied I'm guessing I can relate to scarecrow
@@rougheredge6705 At least Victor Zsasz, and Mad Hatter are insane.
I see him a scientist that don't have ethics, he will do whatever needs to be done to continue his study of fear.
DR. Murphy is a reference to Cillian Murphy who played Crane in Batman begins.
Robert Lythgoe Indeed
Dr Combs is a reference to Jeffrey Combs who played him in The New Batman Adventures.
I love that so much. Cillian was amazing in the role
@@TheValeyard92Don’t forget Jeffery Combs also voiced Scarecrow in Lego DC Super Villains.
I would've loved to see Scarecrow interact with Hugo.
Hugo and Scarecrow would probably have a mutual respect and admiration for each other. I think they'd get along fine, but they'd be secretly plotting against each other.
I bet Hugo would win. He may be insane but he has. Better control of his emotions for the most part.
I'd imagine it would be as DraculaCronqvist said: an epic battle of wits. Or, more specifically, a jerk-off session where the two of them trade insults in an attempt to feed their egos while breaking the other's.
*How does that make you feel? Threatened? Humiliated?...*
*Scared?*
When Batman said scared like that, I got scared.
who in their right mind would want to work at Arkham Asylum? Like, seriously.
The only way I can rationalise it is that the job probably pays well.
Random FNAF what is bad is that i somewhat want to lol
Jeffrey Combs and Cilian Murphey apparently.

Hugo Strange,I think he enjoyed doing his job while he worked at Arkham.
Woah, his voice changes so dramatically between this game and Arkham Knight.
MrScarechrome In the terms of the story, the voice change is due to Killer Croc tearing up his larynx. In reality, it was just an attempt to make him sound more intimidating. Which it did.
Its almost like he hits puberty at the Last game
That’s what happens when you get mauled by a crocodile

4:34 -4:45 that last bit is just amazing goes to show how much wil miss Kevin Conroy and his performance
Ironic that the last tapes happen on Valentine's Day
If Scarecrow had a girlfriend he'd probably celebrate Valentine's Day by spraying her with his fear gas.
Xehanort10 Sounds kinky
Ash tray someone needs to make a dialogue about it.
@go4moo For me, it'd go:

Kinda creepy how much sense he was making
looks like he's coming back with more bigger scary treats in his goodie bag for Arkham Knight! He could mix it up with the Titan formula.
Wow what affects would that be I hope it won't be a giant monster afraid of everything or a fear inescapable but we will find out soon
He played them like a violin and cut their strings
This is why scarecrow is my favorite DC villain
His parts in the game were awesome as FUCK!!
Scared my socks off!
When you think of it, Scarecrow is actually right in his views, and makes perfect sense, that is why he is my favourite male villain :D
Just imagine these tapes with the new scarecrow voice
That would be both terrifying and awesome!
Nah, imagine 'em with the voice of Scarecrow in Netherrealm Studios' Injustice 2: the legendary *Robert Englund* !
Wouldn't really fit. Noble's voice fits a calm scarecrow while Dino's voice fits a more over the top version.
Feels weird to hear Scarecrow say my name
hello stephen
You have to admit Scarecrow demanding a strong drink is pretty funny.
Scarecrow is one of the best Arkham villains.
Scarecrow has always been my favorite comic book villain, but I love him more than ever before in this game!
Professor Jonathan Crane is like the best Batman villian in the world as the scarecrow. I really liked him since I was like a kid
Is it weird that I'm totally in love with his voice ?
Me: "Can I get a drink of water?"
Teacher: "I'm afraid not."
Me: "... Interesting choice of words.. Tell me, what are you afraid of?"
Teacher: "Wut."
Me: "nothing...."
No wonder crane went crazy working at the asylum day in and day out.
You know what would be awesome? Having Dr. Crane and Dr. Lecter meet up. Can you imagine the sheer epicness of that? O.o
Scarcrow was personally my favorite villan in the game
Kind of funny that the last tape is on Valentine's Day
Lol, fear is Scarecrow's one true love.
Scarecrow = LOVE
and the game says so too! Just look at the date on the last two tapes! :D
Apparently my fear of hospitals out weighs my fear of death lol
He sounds like an Bosmer or Altmer in Oblivion.
Scarecrow was always someone i found, how should i call it? Facinating
this guy is the best scarecrow ever!
nothing is as twisted as the batman's rogue gallery
I l o v e it!
2:15. As messed up in the head scarecrow is, He speaks the truth
That was epic with the Batman beating Scarecrow at his own game at the end
lol I love the little role reversal they did forCrane's tapes lmao
Damn, he is such a sociopath!
He's a sadist.
Is it weird that I think it would be fun to be crane's patient?
4:05 I already know what’s happening
not gonna lie that was pretty damn awesome
I'm not the only one who thinks Crane sounds like a middle aged therapist woman?
Who else thinks that Scarecrow is about to perform a serious karate move in this picture.
awww jonathan cute

HOW!?
Oh Bats, you're good...
If I was Crane, I would've exclaimed,"..GASP! THE BATMAN!!!!!!"
Scarecrows voice reminds me of Envy from FMA

Special Appearance of Batman!
They had Mr. Freeze, don't you remember the frozen cell in intensive treatment?
Scarecrow's voice sounds cool :D
He actually sounds somewhat like Jeffrey Combs here.
I love scarecrow's voice. :o
am i the only one who is glad in arkham city it actulley shows what they realy look like in the game instead of the drawings of them?
I don't know why but I laughed when Batman said "scared" at the end. Also did anyone else notice that guard had a troubled childhood?
I think someone had daddy issues.
Fast forward to Arkham Knight: "What's wrong? Scared?"

batman is scary as hell
dr murphy and dr combs, cillian murphy and jeffrey combs both played/voiced scarecrow
I love scarecrow long Mary he live
Roland Deschain, if fear is life, that means I have no life... No fears... No life... What's the point of it all now? *gun shots* *deranged laugh*
I thought so :D He did a great job playing Scarecrow imo
second tape is on my birthday haha oh jon, i do luv ya.
Batman just owned him at the end.
@dontKILLmyCAT Of course Cillian Murphy voiced Scarecrow in the movie. Here, Scarecrow is voiced by Dino Andrade.
Don Messick (Superfriends) set the standard for Scarecrow's voice
Jeffery Combs (New Batman Adventures) was the first to perfect it
Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) revolutionized Scarecrow

Oooooooh!!!! Scarecrow got owned @ 04:46-end.
@shadowrunt21 Scarecrow's immune to his own fear gas.

there is no CRANE........only SCARECROW!
