100% with you on this. There is nothing better than your own physical media.I am really enjoying the resurgence in physical media and hopefully it stays around.I also miss woolworths.😢

Although there are some independent record shops now, all the big chains have gone with the recent demise of hmv, the supermarkets stopped selling cds a few years ago now, really its only amazon or getting cds direct from bands. Still own a cd and dvd/bd collection but pretty much stopped buying them now, might get one or two as presents. I do agree though that there is something special about physical media over streaming but streaming now is just so convenient especially for music. Seldom sit down in front of the hifi now, mostly i listen on headphones or streaming to a speaker or in the car. Different kind of listening experience.

I still have records I got in 1973! I still play them and will never sell them!I love The Last Dinner Party and have the vinyl album and CD plus their vinyl single!I believe if you support an artist you buy it so they get paid! Not interested in downloading stuff!

Totally agree with you 90% of my listening is from physical records, CDs tape reel to reel you name it I tend to stream to find new artists I like and then bye, the record or CD and yes, I miss Woolworths, it used to be a regular trip out to look through the records. See what caught my eye and of course the infamous pick and mix. 😂

Glad to hear there is resistance to the demise of physical media - dangerous situation replying on a source that can be taken away at any time (Netflix, Spotify iTunes Music etc)
Synchronisation is music combined with moving images (film, TV series, adverts, video games, movie trailers etc)
As a musician and music lover I have access to a lot of music - I am very much investing back into physical media (CD, MD, DCC, DVD, Vinyl)
OMG still recall back in the 80's getting paid weekly in cash - little brown envelope!

I agree - Vinyl is Ritual, Streaming is Convenience, CD is Transition between the two...By the way, don't tell anybody, I have invented a new thing in the world of hi-fi - a Turntable with a Remote ! (so you can 'lift up' the stylus from your chair)

Can't agree more. I'm the weirdest man on this world: I have a premium Spotify account but I record that music on cds to listen to it. I like to put the disc, program 20 minutes-pause-20 minutes more, trying to match vinyl records,...And, of course, I still buy cds and some vinyl records. The only thing I miss is a not boring cd player, I'd love to have something looking like an expensive transport with a great display, digital outputs, superior loading which allows the cd to be watched while spinning..., something like a cd turntable: vinyl ritual and cd longevity.

100% agree with everyone you have said regarding physical media. I own and use exclusively CD's for listening to music.
Of course I only buy those that I want to listen to, but I also enjoy "owning" and collecting it and maintaining / growing that library collection. I have two CD players. One I use for background listening and a reference CD player (Luxman D10X) for serious listening which reflects my commitment to the format. I don't even have a streamer and don't feel I'm missing out by not having one. In the late 70's and early 80's, I regularly bought my records from "Spillers Records" in Cardiff and HMV in Queen Street which you will (I'm sure) also know / remember.

I just got a Yamaha amplifier with 2 Yamaha speakers and a cd player because I have a "collection" af CD's, and I want to enjoy them with great sound. I really want to keep buying on CDs and vinyl music.

Mart. I'd be interested in the yes and no's on this one. I personally think that it's an 'age' related thing. The younger generation have been able to stream for 25+ years, (or download from iTunes...etc). I'm mid fifties. I love physical media. Vinyl, sounds totally different than a streamed copy the same music. Mart, can you possibly make a poll to include
1, Do you prefer streaming or physical media and
    2, An age range.
    Could you do that?

Well said, fella! - Totally agree, you don't own your streamed music. End your subscription and you have lost your playlist.

I hope all the types of physical media that are being produced today NEVER stop! I collect record albums, cd's & even cassette! I love each one & enjoy them all in their different ways. I actually have decent equipment to play them on, so that's not an issue. The only issue would be if they stop making records, tapes & cd's!

Woolworth’s, wow! Haven’t been in a Woolworth’s in decades. Triggers fond memories. I’m feeling you on this one brother. I have great memories of the “ritual” of getting a new vinyl album. Just as you described, it was all part of the process from cleaning stylus & settings record levels in my reel-to-reel tape deck. Then reading the liner notes while listening to music. It was all fun!

i'm more a hybrid person. I prefer physical to keep the music and even video games, movie and tv shows is a mix for me. we usually use streaming to watch a movie, show or documents, but it doesnt mean we own it. its because its like back then watching on TV but now you can access any of it. The most criticsm i see is mainly the exclusivity when one or few shows or movies are only here and there to watch. Even when other countries have a whole different license, which is a pain in a butt. sure we are lucky for it if its there but its still annoying. so rather like a vent store to rent a dvd or bluray disc might be the best option to watch.
with digital depends, i'll digitize physical stuff to back it up, mostly like Retro games and even music with CD, Vinyl and sometimes a very good prerecorded cassette (which not many tapes are produced equally). i use spotify alot but when i listen a track, i'll buy physically to listen the whole album on vinyl. CD for mostly if its only released in CD format to digitize and digital for few exclusive reasons.
to me, i use whatever i like to use for reasons. i'm not really a fan of these debates or fighting when it comes to that topic. and i see many the same reason why they use physical or digital. i mean i can understand about the feel of the physical media, thats one thing. but i use physical for few reasons how i use them (like i said about vinyl). collecting can be very pricey later on. With Retro Video games, i think it makes sense, beside with cartridge. Disc can be sometimes flimsy when its used way many or using it very wrong. so there's like mods either an easier method but also mostly hard if you're a expert to modding or soldering things. but yeah there are reasons why people use the method to keep it digitally.
so overall, its much for a preference use what i prefer.

I’m a physical media junkie as well as an obsolete junkie too! I still have and use laserdisc with over 2000 disc in my library as well as mini disc, HD DVD, Blu-ray and ultra HD and of course the standard CDs and LP records.. I won’t mention the Betamax 😂 and reel to reel tapes!

As a 70s/80s fan (old boy) I trawl charity shops for CD's especially for original albums, not best of or greatest hits! Recently I managed to bag Stevie Wonders Songs in the key of life and Kid Creole's Tropical Gangsters as part of a £1 bundle, absolute bargain
Downside is the missus moans a bit about my 1000+ CD's cluttering up the house🙄
Ref: Coaster, decorum has been restored, keep it up matey!👍
