All cemeteries have mounds of dirt . All of the dirt won't fit back in the hole that was filled with a casket .

This is very interesting! There's a little cemetery down the street from me that has early settlers buried there. They built a shopping center around it and it's now part of the parking lot. We also have a popular park that used to be a cemetery and the bodies were relocated (not all of them unfortunately. Some are still there). Most people enjoying that park now have no idea what it was.

No such thing as “Rest In Peace” in that cemetery ( as you say yelling over the sound of an aircraft flying overhead ) 😲🙉

As many times as I've been in and through Tallahassee, I had never heard of that cemetery being there. I'm glad they left it instead of having it relocated. When remains are relocated, there are undoubtedly some left behind as it is fairly common to have unmarked and uncharted graves in the older cemeteries. Very interesting find!

thats a black cemetery. the concrete slabs on the surface are typically the tops of vaults buried in a way where the cover of the vault is left exposed at surface level. In this cemetery, they look like concrete slabs added after the fact and not vault tops. the headstones as well look to have all been placed at the same time (the granite markers i mean). The depressions are sucken grave, the mound is a dirtpile. Even modern black cemeteries that are still in use become over grown and forgotten in sections as burial continue as they dont maintain their cemteries (church ownership exempts them from laws about perpetual care) so what often happens is they leave their cemteries to ruin, they are lost, they are found by a developer, news articles are written, and they are renovated and protected as a civil rights issue. This is all very general but I hope it clears up any questions. love your vids

In case you are not aware in maryland at baltimore washington international Airport there is Friendship Cemetery now located on land owned by the airport. The airport was originally called Frienship Airport. I understand that cemetery is still active but for funerals the airport authority must be contacted to get permission.

Here in Owls Head Maine (KRKD airport) the town built a cemetery at the end of the runway. Nice flat land that houses can't be built on. And it prevents the airport from expanding the runway in that direction. FAA provides a ton of money for airports and if they want your airport to lengthen a runway or something, they'll make it happen.

In Lancaster, Ohio, Greenfield Township Cemetery is an active cemetery right next to the airport. However, the airport is a small municipal airport with no tower, and pretty much just private planes. Definitely not a major international airport! The cemetery at one time was filled with large trees and was decently shady, but the FAA at some point mandated all the trees be removed, even though the cemetery is not in the flight path. The 48-inch REX natural gas pipeline interestingly runs right under the eastern tip of the taxiway.

The land was likely expropriated and based on the name of the church, probably a black area. The access was something that was probably an accommodation.
It wouldn't surprise me to find this happened during or for WWII as an airbase and transitioned to what it is today.

Yeah, watch out for those fire ants. Usually, you can see their mounds but for some reason, not all colonies will build a big hill. I grew up in Columbia, SC and there are plenty of fire ants down there. Throughout my childhood, I probably stood in a fire ant hill unknowingly 5-10 times. You'd think you'd know but you don't until it's to late. The ants actually crawl onto you and whenever the first one bites you, it releases a pheromone that signals to the other ants to "attack". You'd have 20-40 of them on your bare skin and then all of a sudden, you'd be bitten 10 times in just a couple of seconds. TL;DR: They don't play and they can be easily missed, especially in sandy soil. Keep your eyes open as you're walking around in these abandoned areas.
