ZIMS - Zoological Information Management System

ZIMS is the first ever, unified global database on animal health and management in the world.
With ZIMS, each of the 825 ISIS member institutions across 76 countries can begin entering their data directly into a web-based, global database and, most importantly, gain instant access to information from other zoos and aquariums in the network.
This database currently contains records on 2.3 million animals and it's hoped the system's state-of-the-art, Web-based design will not only revolutionize the zoo and aquarium world, but inspire new research.
Zoos SA, through its Adelaide and Monarto Zoos, has been selected as early adopters thus being one of the first institutions in the world to implement ZIMS software - a reality that was first dreamt of 10 years ago when the zoological community began discussing the need for a real-time pooled animal knowledgebase.
