Hello all! It has been a bit, and I am happy to bring a new video for you guys (as well as a few others that are currently in the works, expect them this week!). Some of you might recognize the song from War Aesthetics' "AGGRESSORS" video, and I've wanted to do an F-117 video for a long time now with such a perfect song in my opinion. I am pleased with the result of this one, so I hope you guys are happy with it as well! Thank you for all of the support and helping me hit 1,350 subscribers (hello to all of the new subs that came from Ash's video I helped make!).
The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk is a semi-retired American single-seat, twin-engine stealth attack aircraft that was developed by Lockheed's secretive Skunk Works division and operated by the United States Air Force (USAF). It was the first operational aircraft to be designed around stealth technology.
The F-117 was based on the Have Blue technology demonstrator. The Nighthawk's maiden flight took place in 1981 at Groom Lake, Nevada, and the aircraft achieved initial operating capability status in 1983. The aircraft was shrouded in secrecy until it was revealed to the public in 1988. Of the 64 F-117s built, 59 were production versions, with the other five being prototypes.
The F-117 was widely publicized for its role in the Persian Gulf War of 1991. Although it was commonly referred to as the "Stealth Fighter", it was strictly a ground-attack aircraft. F-117s took part in the conflict in Yugoslavia, where one was shot down and another damaged by surface-to-air missiles (SAM) in 1999. The U.S. Air Force retired the F-117 in April 2008, primarily due to the fielding of the F-22 Raptor. Despite the type's official retirement, a portion of the fleet has been kept in airworthy condition, and Nighthawks have been observed flying since 2009.

There's a story of one pilot having an engine failure and saw this airport with a huge runway in the distance so he headed for that. He found it confusing why this airport didnt show on any charts, but at the moment, that was the least of his concerns. When he landed he was greeted with a bunch of guys with guns pointed at his head, but in the distance he saw the wonkiest, weirdest, alien type looking plane in the distance. He was kept for a few hours before he had to swear to secrecy, then they released him. That airport turned out to be area 51, and that alien looking plane was the F117. The guy said he figured he could share that story now because the F117 isnt top secret anymore.

It was Anthony “Bugs” Bendell, an RAF exchange pilot that had to land there because of an emergency. And after the landing they radio'd to him "Don't look to the left", it was too late, and he saw the A-12 (other variant of the SR-71), not the F-117, this was in 1963, the F-117 had not been created yet.
Imagine if the NATO club started acting like the Serbians and started saying "NATO sends its regards" after all the aircraft we've shot down in the past 50 years.
NATO doesn't have this opportunity because there isn't an opponent vastly superior enough to make the boast meaningful

Like the Ballon it just shot down recently which is the only air to air kill the F22 has achieved. The fucking Shahed 136 suicide drone has more air to air kills than the F22

The one mystery is that time one came back with a missing wing flawlessly. Makes you wonder if it even needs wings… aside for aesthetically purpose in order to look awesome…

Yes with radar that still used vacuum tubes and missiles from the 60s. Thats quite impressive no? Especially when NATO had air superiority
@@steeline2319 Not really considering it was a cascading failure that lead to it. The NATO pilots used the same flight path 3 days in a row, their EW plane stayed down due to weather, and the Serbians had to hijack their own search radar to operate at a super low wavelength, which means it was detecting basically anything as a threat. Then when they finally spotted what turned out to be the F-117's, they only detected 1 out of 3 and the missile's targeting radar wasn't locking on. It wasn't until the bomb bays opened the targeting radar finally detected the F-117 again, and then the first missile completely missed, and the second one successfully detonated, without killing the pilot. If that isn't sheer luck on the Serbian side, I don't know what is.
@@steeline2319I hate to be that guy here but the circumstances for which it was shot down were damn near perfect for them supposedly, it was mostly a failure by the pilot, having visually identifing the sam battery but ignoring it, another thing to consider is that the F-117 didn't have a radar so there was no way to know it was being targeted other than it's sensors. In other words the sam operator knew what the fuck they were doing.
Such a beaut that this machine can bring, and the tech involved in it... simply amazing, thats some good content right there, your channel is amazing!

Serbs were celebrating after shooting down one F-117. My brother in christ, there were B-2s present at the same time. Did you shoot one of them down too?
