The album was perfect 10 years ago. Because the band and stage were perfect. It's been copied in the meantime by idiots who will never achieve the same level because they don't understand the lyrics and don't have a sense for the vibe of the melody.
I heard it live a couple of days ago, and it's still as effective as the last time I heard it few years back, I got chills listening to how the sound of the guitars gradually grows, and Sam Fogarino's drum work on this song is epic!
My favorite song from my favorite Interpol album. The Interpol album skillfully tells a story of the phases of destruction of a relationship and what the effect is on the male during the breakup. I was going through my divorce at the time the album dropped and it encapsulated so brilliantly and painfully the experience I went through. I will forever be grateful to Interpol for having the courage to make this album.

I just really hate how this song and 'Barricade' are singled out and the album is seen as the worst. The self-titled album is a masterpiece, all one has to do is listen and *feel* the music.
The Self Titled is so powerful. I have the 12" of it and I often start with the second half....The Man I Am. The feel like Paul writes true to male emotions, with a sense of honesty, humor and longing. Not that women fans won't enjoy it....but there is something special as a guy who is often lonely I feel in his words. But the second half is so dark when you give it a chance. The Undoing is a fucking masterpiece.
+tehrubarb Exactly, I think that's the thing when it comes to this album. A person has to have experienced the darkness that the album portrayed in order to have understood and truly appreciate it. And I agree, once you hit Always Malaise the album becomes dark. And it makes it even greater since the songs afterwards start hitting home. Even if one's never experienced that dark recess, one can simply hear how Paul has done so. It makes the album more of an experience how much emotion Paul puts into his singing.

The guitar reminds me of Joy Division "Insight" at the beginning. I know people say the beginning guitar riff is a rip off of The Chameleons "Don't Fall" but it is only 2 or 3 chords. One can't deny that The Chameleons & Joy Division are a big influence on Interpol.

@MIICHEMI Uh, sure. The video represents a series of chemical reactions within a cell. Each girl is a type of molecule. The big black thing is an enzyme. The white liquid is the pheromone the text at the beginning mentions. Better?
It's funny how life is....That was my first contact with Interpol - back in 2010. It was an instant crush! But I've only get to know the name's band almost 5 years later (another funny trick of my life) when I became a fan! The music video (and the song, of course) still explodes my mind every time I watch, and I wonder why it is so underestimaded. I just love you guys
it is my favorite and when it came out received so much hate. I never understood why... bangers from start to finish! I wished they would have played this from start to finish live but they never did that year!
Non popular opinion - This is my favorite Interpol album and one of my top favs of said album but I truly hate how the song was cut for this great video
This is a brilliantly well done music video. Shows the diverse thinking that people have towards things in society. The use of drugs is the perfect example of this. Overall it has the imagery of a painting, with the words and music of an amazing artist. All in all this is a beautiful piece of work. Thumbs up guys :D
@nightcrawls It's a reaction within a cell to make the pheromone mentioned at the beginning. The reaction uses an enzyme (a protein that makes reactions happen faster) to transform one molecule into another.

That's why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you
That is why I hold you here
That's why I hold you (hold you, hold you, hold you, hold you, hold you)
this song builds so nicely...i love it
what a sexy song...awesome, I´ve always totally liked it!
A top song, forgotten. Worked it's way into my brain and sounds perfect all the way through, everything i see it provides is perfect.
Interpol, always have been one of my all time favorite bands, keep up the good work, ;)
Eu fico de um jeito tão gratificante ouvindo essa música
Diez años de esta canción, casi veinte de seguir esta banda que ha sido en gran parte la banda sonora de mi vida. Larga vida a Interpol.
Saw them last night here in Tampa and they played this! As hauntingly beautifully live. Pure bliss!
The best S&M tease I've ever seen. 6/9
69/96
@MIICHEMI Uh, sure. The video represents a series of chemical reactions within a cell. Each girl is a type of molecule. The big black thing is an enzyme. The white liquid is the pheromone the text at the beginning mentions. Better?
This song is like an ascending climax that does not give satisfaction.
I just love you guys
this song wouldn't be the same without the video, put together is what makes this art, and it's a beautiful piece of art!
People will be listening to Interpol in 50 years time considering them one of the greats of our generation.
Ever heard of Lucid Rivers?
Underrated Interpol song! ❤️
10yrs later ......always been one to show up late and enjoy after the hype 🤘
I love every corner of this song
♣ ♣One of the must beautiful music I ever heard! ♣ ♣ ♣ ♣
This album is so underrated
it is my favorite and when it came out received so much hate. I never understood why... bangers from start to finish! I wished they would have played this from start to finish live but they never did that year!
I forgot about this video. My God, the first time I watched it... SO SPECIAL!!
This may indeed be their masterpiece. Incredible video as well.
The pseudonym of the girl playing the "patient" is Lola Blanc.
Nossa, conheci Interpol por conta desse clipe, na antiga MTV, saudades
♠ ♠Thank you for your upload, blessing on you all. ♠ ♠
Me encanta esta banda. No me cansaré de repetirloo
¿Aun no te cansas de repetirlo?
Ya te cansaste?
@@omhd423 sí XD
@@fAlexandra_ a bueno jajaja
Interpol; Just the best New York band of all times!
Wow. It starts slow and mellow and slowly builds. So original for indie!
wow i havent seen such a good video in a long time
The progression
Non popular opinion - This is my favorite Interpol album and one of my top favs of said album but I truly hate how the song was cut for this great video
Aged like fine wine.
Interpol is genus!!
Twisted, visually haunting, and an excellent audio journey.
Brilliant video and probably best song on the album - indeed I think it redeems the album.
I ❤ INTERPOL.
Damn you interpol and your captivating videos
I am hoping they play this song in CDMX next saturday. 😍😍😍
Sí la tocaron!
So Feeling and beautiful....An artistic masterpiece
This song is still on my playlist for many years.
