Great video. Trying to decide between this and the chargrill

This is a great insulated offset smoker. Especially if you pair it with the signals/Billows fan set up. Check out my other videos to see what I'm talking about

I have the same smoker you should get the thermoworks billow and fan unit to control the temperature for it and maintain it for you. It also gets it up to temperature in around 20 mins

Yes I already did. I have a video on it scheduled to come out later this month. It is really accurate. Thanks!

I got the Billows fan and the Smoker X2 and the Signals thermometers.

@@TheSmokingBeard I got the guru Ultra Q, rather it was given to me. Now that one does ramping. Ramping it an algorithm that predicts based on several factors, how to AUTOMATCALLY reduce your pit temp, based on how fast (predictably) your INTERNAL temp is rising so that it does not OVERSHOOT the IT. Meat will even go up when you remove it. Are you liking the billow. Let me know the MONUTE you have this video so I can feature it on my group dedicated to this smoker.

Looking at getting mine in a couple weeks. Make sure to get a longer stem temp gauge.

Still can't fund the 4 inch long stem

I got this one and put it on mine. Works like a charm! Tel-tru is the absolute best, this one rings very true temp readings. Buy once, cry once.

FYI get a longer temperature gauge to get an accurate temp

Yes. I was able to find a 4 inch. Works a lot better than the 3 inch.

I am seriously thinking of buying one. I believe I will burn a whole bag for the initial cure. I am a long time stick burner.

If you do, be ready to go about 24 hours. I did a test with a full hopper and it took that long to go through charcoal

wait - I have the prototype. what the deal with your door? Its missing its inner lining. I was wondering in another vid why you were suggesting a 4 inch probe. Those of us that were given the first ones for R and D and testing have fully insulated doors. Did you remover it or does it come like that? By the way. I love your work and effort here. Sincerely, The Fabulous Popdaddy - aka Pitmaster T

What you see is how it came. I hope it's not missing anything... for the price I paid. As far as the 4 inch probe, I bought that one on the side. It was the longest one I could find.

That ash chamber looks like a great place to bake a potato(e)

    • @TheSmokingBeard
      @TheSmokingBeard  9 місяців тому

You can, but you're better off putting them in the smoker so they can get the smoke flavor. Put them on the bottom grate if you're smoking something so the juices can bast the potatoes

For a faster heat up, leave a small crack in the fire door, it needs the oxygen, check out some of my mods I did on the same unit, technician775 old country mods. This is a very good smoker…..

@@TheSmokingBeard thank you for your vids!....I did find if you are using the bellows...I cut the valve about 1/2 way off...steadies the temp quite a bit...and I put a stack on the exhaust....holds a better temp too...pulls a steady draugh...I think I have a couple of vids out on this...technician775 and a ash collector for the old country gravity from a masterbuilt 570...works great... some simple neat mods!

Do you still use the smoker

Almost exclusively. Once you go this route, you can tell the difference in the taste of the meat when smoking on an electric smoker.

In the hopper. As long as it fits. Wood Chunks fit really nice. I usually layer charcoal and wood chunks to get the best of both worlds.
