    My Mother’s oncologist diagnosed her with a disease she didn’t have and was giving her medication for it to. Then she ended up passing away from cancer. That story made me think about just how many doctors misdiagnose people. My mom’s oncologist was also a foreign woman and she told my mom to go home and plan to die.

      I’m really sorry that happened but you should honestly complain to the board and get some sort of compensation!

    Theres something about waiting for things to be covered by insurance that dont sit right by me. If you have the money to pay for the colonoscopy out of pocket and you want to do it, id say go for it. The reasons that the doc gave for not doing, besides the cost, id ask him how often do those things happen? Cause if its not often then im with Goose about being preventative. Black men are dying younger due to colon cancer.

    It’s sad that so many of our stories are similar. Doctor told my father that there was nothing wrong and that he was faking his symptoms. The doctor even asked me if my dad was faking, and my dad was a man who prided himself on only going to the hospital for absolute emergencies. His PCP said this to us after waiting two days to come see him and he passed away five days later. Worst time of my life.

    There was colonization here, get out of here with the excuses

    • @naijarach
      @naijarach 9 місяців тому +2

      I mean this with so much love not to argue at all but black people in America weren’t colonized… however everyone around the world has been affected by white supremacy and colonialism and everywhere in the world you will find people who still carry it, even here in America so let’s try to refrain from divisive language because we’re all really in the same boat.
      As a Nigerian I can attest to the influence of colonization on the standard of beauty in Nigeria. And acknowledge that America actually influenced and in many ways is still influencing the wave of thinking that blackness (and all that comes with it) is beautiful in Nigeria. With that being said it’s going to take time for that to seep into the mind of everyone and for the generation that thinks differently to slowly bow out. Don’t forget this natural hair movement is new in America so let’s give grace and time to other nations and people that aren’t quite there yet.

    • @tinked82
      @tinked82 9 місяців тому +2

      @@naijarach I have no problem holding space for other point of views as we all have one and perspective matters. Black as in the term "black" to describe our race was directly created from colonization. I won't go into all of this on this podcast post and I'll say explanations are for understanding, not excusing behaviors or rhetoric. BLACK Americans catch it from all angles, including ppl who are considered our own from the motherland.
