That Firebird was taking no prisoners. Had the geared just right so that it pulled all the way down the track and was shifting like a madman, great driving.
Hell yeah ! That's real OG shit . I love it. My goal is to build a N/A stick shift 67 cougar that'll be able to drive to the track and run high 8's or low 9's
It's a shame there's no Mercury Comets in these videos as they ruled the A/FX and B/FX classes in the mid 60's then Jack Chrisman inventing the funny car class in 65.
coltsfan79 FX were funny cars that’s how the class came to be as long as it came that way from factory at first then match racing got ahold of FX and rules went out the window lol
YES this is the best class to watch. as a current and future stick driver, I love this. my toy AND my daily driver are both stick. I want to see more of that red Firebird.
Yes, I agree auto is the way to go for consistency..... but as far as crowd pleasing and fun factor for the driver gear banging is the way to go. There is nothing like watch a car come out of the hole with a 6000 RPM clutch dump!!!
Yeah...I’m a geezer who grew up with a ‘55 Chevy with three speed on the column. It was a science controlling the launch but the shift to second was a blast...tweeking the tires.
The Light was green for the red bird and he was still asleep ... You can have all the money and all the car in the world but there is NOTHING you can do if your just NOT able to engage the part of your skull that tells your left foot to let go ....
I follow the UMTR north stick guys in Ohio and I know some leave the wheelie bars up higher to put on a good show for all who come to watch. Stick shift cars are fun to watch
More than half these cars have not set up their "wheelie bars" properly. They need to be closer to the ground to prevent "nose lifting" off the ground, hence controlling the "launch". They're not there for looks boys... get your act together and you might reduce your times too!
Real drag cars have three padels! My 65' comet,,, 4 speed, my 66 buick gran sport. 4 speed, and my 70' nova, all four speeds,,, and I powershift all three,,, never letting off throttle between gears,,, ther nothing like a stick car,,, and yes, I've put my share of automatics on the trailer,,, since 1974'
That firebird was badass. Popped a wheelie hitting every gear
firebirds all day long
Row those gears young man row those gears!!!!!!!!
Stick-Shifts-for Life...............
This is what racing really is no computers no transbreak just human skill slamming gears.
TPV Productions thesw guys are using transbreaks thats why there coming off the line so hard
@@mikewest9033 explain to me how a trans brake works on a manual transmission
@@clintway116 the same damn way. Hit the trans brake the car locks in first gear and reverse let the button go the car takes off easy
@@mikewest9033 so did u learn yet theres no transbrake on a manual trans?

Hi, what a good idea to show us these old Drags... love it !! Thanks for that !! Chris.
Id rather watch these Stick Shift cars all day than 4 second Pro Mods on 1/8th mile.
hell yeah me too piss on a bunch of promod crap
Just keep the tube chassis cars out of it.
@@joereachor2739 At least half of these are chassis cars!!! ROFLMFAO!!!
The only thing it needs to make it right, is another 1/8 mile tacked onto it!!!
that is how I raced my G.T.O back in the 70's.
That little mustang is living up to its name
This was absolutely fantastic! Man that black willys pickup was insane!!
The guy in the white fox body he can shift. Front end barely drops great job
All I see in this video is real men racing
Reminds me of the good old days high revving gear banging goodness!!!
Yeah! Like Modified Production cars. Great photography. Thanks.
Now it's just high revving, let the computer control everything else horseshit!!
I wish we had drag strips like this in CA. back woods style.
I love that red nova
Hell yeah ! That's real OG shit . I love it. My goal is to build a N/A stick shift 67 cougar that'll be able to drive to the track and run high 8's or low 9's
Real deal there ladies and gentlemen!
Muncie boxes ? Or toploaders ?
Like the good old days of modified racing!! 4 speed crash boxes and riding the wheelie bars..
How much do you think they spend on clutches and transmissions I mean a strong transmission will survive but it'll cost a pretty penny
It's a shame there's no Mercury Comets in these videos as they ruled the A/FX and B/FX classes in the mid 60's then Jack Chrisman inventing the funny car class in 65.

Still can't get used to 1/8 mile. I'm an ol timer. We can run 1/8 mile but not popular in my neck of the woods. Not saying it's not cool tho.
I wouldn't waste my time with 1/8 mile, if it's not quarter mile, I'm not wasting my time.
boy that Firebird really flies
It takes skill to grab gears down the track, with a auto anyone can let go of a trans brake and hold the gas to the floor
Dan Gerous most transmissions that run transbrakes use a manual valve body so you're still having to somewhat shift
Yes nothing like shifting gears. Autos with trans brakes are for consistency that's difficult to get banging gears.

Drag racing the way it should be done
Stick shifts for life!!!!

Man that what I'm talking about right there stabbing them gears
Do they ever run 1/4 mile events here? I've seen 1 or 2 passes on youtube from guys like Sketchy and Crusty but never a whole event.
I wonder why everyone is running with the wheelie bars so high? Looks like a wheelie competition. Not hating just a honest question.
I follow the UMTR north stick guys in Ohio and I know some leave the wheelie bars up higher to put on a good show for all who come to watch. Stick shift cars are fun to watch
Dan Joseph oh ok make sense thanks
BADASS!!!!
Super BADASS !!!
anybody know what the record is for the best run of a 4 speed in the 1/4 mile ?
(with a manual clutch)
this is awesome!
Now that was awesome
Got some sand baggin’ going on here ! ...
Cool
What track is this?

Is this 1/8 mile?
Urban hillbilly videos very good
yep, look for 1320 videos too, i think they have a link the the description.
1320 sucks ass compared to UH
Love it
TOO DAM REAL
Is it just me or is that Mustang II dog tracking?
That's what I was thinking too.
The way it should be.

1/8th mile.... Pffft. What is next? 60 foot? Come on man. 1320 or nothing.
1/8 is more of a driver's race 1/4 is wasted track for most cars anyway
Lots of bad setups for so many to be pulling high bouncing wheelies like that. Impossible to drive fast. Lots of broken parts.
😁
Premium!!

To bad it's1/8 mile.
All I see I same shit rehashed
I HATE 1/8th mile drags!
