Great video! Thank you so much for posting it! As a female I have been so anxious about doing this and have never done it in many years of driving. But now I need to learn for myself so taking a deep breath and going to try it. Your video instruction was incredibly helpful, literally the fact that you explained every single little step slowly and clearly was an absolute winner for me. I cannot express enough how helpful this has been for me.
Thank god for video. I was never told to check the Tyre pressure at least once a month. One night my car tyre pressure light comes on, I soon as I got home I rang my Road side assist, the NRMA guy check all tyres and told me that it only needed air and to regularly check the tyre pressure. 🤦♀️😳
Thank you so much for the instructions how to fill the air into the car tyres. This my first time do it, my car tyre was shown 25 psi in this morning. All good and set to 35psi now.
Thank you from BrisVegas, I now have the confidence to do it myself after 54 years of driving. Oh dear😂 Female here, learning to do heaps myself now, having a husband with dementia. It is what it is. 😏Thank you once again. Blessings.🤗
owww! Many thanks! I'm firs year driver, and this olways did my father for me... But now I have noone to teach 😢 me this stuffs I'm soo happy to have this video! Many thanks again ❤❤❤
Common problem - at least here in UK -is that the hose doesn't connect very well to the valve, meaning air leaks as it tries to inflate. These usually involves standing at awkward angles, trying to apply enough hand pressure to keep it sealed enough...
Same issue here in Australia. Learning how to hold the connector onto the valve is part of the challenge. I can't remember ever finding one with a functional clip the correctly held the connector on the valve.
I have my own 12V pump in my boot. But regardless of where I get my air, I prefer to overinflate by about 2-4psi over the vehicle door pillar sticker values, then bleed down with a repeatable, reliable tire gauge to the values specified on that sticker. That way I know I'm really at the factory settings for tire pressure. All this done, by the way, at dawn, the coolest part of the day, and before the sun has had the chance to shine on any tires.
Thanks so much, this is really helpful, short enough and to the point. Ive done this a bit but last time got tricked because I think the machine was set yo the kpi measurement but I must need 32-36 psi
Thank you SO much for this. I need to drive quite a distance (595 km) in two days, and wasn't sure how I would put air in my tyres. This video clip was a tremendous help. Thank you! P.S. Any idea how much, in Psi I would need for a Hyundai i30?
The lever is intended to lock the connector onto the valve. If operational, you press the lever to allow the connector to fit over the valve the release it to lock the connect on. I find that most don't work properly including this one. I realised this one didn't work at all after first tyres so just pressed the connector straight on and held it there. Looking back, I realise I didn't show or explain how the locking lever should work. Thank you for asking.
Okay first all thank you for the explanation, I attempted this recently I was in an anxious state, I thought the machine was broken it turns out it was me that was broken 🙈. So just a recap, over here in the UK step 1)pay for it with the card, step 2) set tyre pressure so for my car it be 34 or 36, step 3) stick that air thing in the wheel, step 4) when it’s beeping means the tyre pressure that I set has been reached then step 5) just take it out then put those caps back on the wheels, then done? 😊❤ X
@ceriannhughes692 thanks for the UK update and for taking the plunge and doing it. Sad for you guys you have to pay for it. So far Aussies don't have to pay, it is just a free service available at most fuel stations.
I miss these better machines. Now I am in Canada. The machine here requires you to manually check the tire pressure. Love these pressure preset machines
Changing a tire would be good video. A bit challenging to do well as there are so many variables between vehicle makes and models. Thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for asking. The lever operates a catch that is intended to hold the hose connector onto the tire valve. Most don't work including this one. I started holding it down to keep the catch out of the way but realised after a while it didn't matter if I held the lever down or not.
A question ... when I take the hose of the valve after it has reached the correct psi, I get an audible whooshing sound. I am concerned air is coming out of the tyre.
@susanchisholm7093 the wooshing sound you here as you take the hose off the connector is a release of pressure in the hose / connector. It is not coming from your tyre unless tyre has faulty valve which is rare.
@rosieharman1631 thank you for asking. Increasing the psi to 36 means tyres roll easier reducing fuel consumption, is lighter for steering plus means that when the tyre pressure drops over the next few weeks, you still have good pressure in the tyres. 36 is still within safe pressure range allowed for the tyres. Did that help?
@@meesamagill1193 did you put the right number in the machine? And the right measurement (in psi etc)? Maybe your tyres were already higher than what you put in the machine.
@meesamagill1193 I agree, especially if work car is commercial vehicle like van, pick up, Ute or small truck, tyre pressures could be set much higher that standard car tyres.
@pelcenglishcourses1841 Thanks for asking. The silver metal thing is meant to be a catch that holds the connector onto the valve stem. Most don't work properly so I hold it down (so it doesn't catch on the valve stem) and simply use my hand to keep the connector pushed onto the valve stem. Hope that helps.
I just used the gauge on the dash since really. That's probably the reason you're putting air in the tire to keep that thing quiet from warning you it's Too low. I go about 2 or 3 pounds more so has a little while before it comes on again. It doesn't react quickly so give it some time put a little in doing other tire. Put a little in doing another tire. Then you can start checking the results. You'll learn how fast it checks the sensor.
@ I think I should’ve learned from you.. I took it out the very moment it beeped- my car is still notifying me that I need to check the air pressure so you might’ve been onto something
@Yoduck03 when pumping up tyre, watch the pressure gauge (numbers on machine screen). They should show actual tyre pressure when you first connect air line then gradually increase to your chosen pressure then beep to confirm pressure has been reached.
@raulrahaman9863 should just screw easily off with fingers. Maybe dust caps are already missing from your car and all you have is the actual valve stem???
Possible explaination is that the tyre pressure is already higher than the set pressure on the machine. Some bike tyres run at over 80 psi especially narrow tyred road bikes. Just a thought.
Sometimes the machine beeps at the wrong pressure. For example, I click to 34, and I always hear the beeping at 29. When I try again, it shows the same problem. Does it mean there's something with my car's tyres?
The lower tyre pressure table is more for comfort. The higher tyre pressure table is best for improved fuel economy, reduced tyre wear and lighter steering. It is also recommended if travelling fully loaded with passengers and luggage or towing.
NOTE: Some tyre inflation stations are correct in that you have to drive nose in or reverse in to the parking bay. If the parking bay is side on to the inflation machine but there is enough room, still reverse or drive towards the 'station'. WHY? Well the hose of the inflation station is often left with parts in contact to the ground or is dragged by the user to the 'other' side of the car. That brings additional debris to the already course hose tubing, this MAY damage your paintwork, (depending how much you care about your paint). CPM...Car Paint Matters.
If one is looking soft, it is likely others will be down on pressure as well. Checking and topping up tyre pressures should be done at least monthy as all tyres slowly lose pressure, some slightly more than others.
Inflating to 33 is good but as the tyre pressure leaks down over time the pressure will soon be lower than 33. I tend to go 1 or 2 psi higher than required pressure so I don't have to top up tyre pressures quite so often.
