this song was made for people saying their old stuff is better than their new stuff (they used to be this heavy in their older work but have gotten more "soft" in their newer work and fans were complaining about it). Thats why there's the line "we only ever love you when you're seeing red" meaning fans only like when they were aggressive musically. The line "we'll make you royalty, we'll be the best of enemies" is basically saying "we liked you but now we dont".
I find it very cruel to judge a band for changing. People change life circumstances do. Of course music just mirrors it. Why being mad? I discovered Architects in their 'soft' phase. Black Lungs and Tear Gas are awesome! I don't mind change since I am listening to various metal genres anyway.
@@AnnRose142 Exactly, I feel the same. I got into Architects with the song "Heartburn" which at the time was definitely their softest! Been listening to all their stuff ever since, never really come across a bad song from them.
Agreed. Was thinking that the first time I heard this. I think this song is a middle finger being raised to the people who made them feel like shit. Rightly so. Go on lads. Can't wait for the new album 🤟
I think Architects is also in a pretty special situation where for many fans everything will always be put up against All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us, and I don't think they can ever measure up to that album... It's a fantastic album which is elevated to another level because of the circumstances surrounding it, with Tom's death. Hard to ever match the emotional weight of a man's literal swan song...
"He looks like somebody I saw in the pub once, kick the absolute shit out of the slot machine" Mate, if that's not the most British thing to say, then I don't know what is, but that line made me crease up so hard because it's true. That's exactly how the UK is. Aside from that, I'm digging your reactions bro. Quality and fair man. Subbed for sure!
"ARE YOU HAPPY NOW?" Architects man...absolute bangers. This song was made sarcastically to the "fans" who shit on them and complained about their change in style musically. They started out and got super popular off the heaviness with the "BLEGH" and the breakdowns. "We only ever love you when you make heavy/angry music"
What’s funny about this song is that this song is considered VERY basic and it kinda was in response to people saying “they aren’t heavy anymore” so they just basically just checked off all the Metalcore stereotypes, also because I don’t see any other people saying it but the “blegh” Sam does at the beginning was popularized by them in this genre and in their heavier music was quite prevalent, the blegh is a staple in this genre now and lots of bands use it now thanks to mostly this band. They’re kind of one of the goats in this genre.
Architects is touring in Europe right now with a band called Spiritbox supporting them. You should definitely give spiritbox a listen. A good song to start with is “Circle with Me.” Great reaction!
First I have to say, I have highly enjoyed your dive into rock/metal, you are a pure reaction every time, from Watch the World Burn to this! Every rock/metal reaction you have done we can see the excitement, shock, and joy in your expressions be it face or body. Keep up the great work and continue your rock/metal awakening, we are here for it! You are getting closer but still not ready for Slaughter to Prevail but I cant wait for that one! Sam Carter the lead singer did not create it but is usually credited for popularizing "Blegh" that now is a staple in most metal songs. He is not a fan of "Bleghs" now and even stated once that he wished he never started doing them. With this song, it was a big F U to haters and fans who stated that they were no longer heavy, hence the crazy breakdown in this song with the, "Are You Happy Now." and the "Blegh" right at the begining of the song. ARCHITECTS are soooo good and have so many great songs, cant wait for you to react to more.
😅 You made me laugh so hard. Thanks for that. You obviously enjoyed the heck out of this. Imagine seeing this live...I saw them 2 weeks ago with Spiritbox opening for them. We had a blast. Enjoy your metal journey.🫶
This is incredible, I can’t believe I haven’t heard this it’s so damn good😭😭😭 I only know old Architects music, so this was awesome!!! love watching your reactions cause I ALSO get introduced to new music, this is going in the playlist asap✨✨
I just discovered these guys at the tail end of last year, and I cant stop listening to them. Looking forward to some more reactions, thank you for doing what you do.
Okay i rediscovered this band this year. I listened to the older stuff. Just to help kick start the brain juices. Honestly Animals is what brought me back to them. The chugging in the song just nakes me want to tear shit up. Lol. And seeing red makes perfect sense for a somg and life in general. I really connect with this song. I do with doomsday and when we were young. Along with Gone with the wind. Okay to be honest the band that i got into metal with is still Slipknot the redubt Album tilted (SIC). I listen to them still to this day. All out life bythem kicks Hard. Also im going to throw in Beartooth in-between, Agressive, Greatness or death, The Answer And Doubt Me along with the surface and riptide. 🤘😎🤘
This song is so sad in many different ways. First and foremost its pretty much them writing a messege to the other half of their fans. Because they turned their backs on the band while they evolved into who they are now. And to me probably the most powerful thing about this song, is that they are making it in their old style. But it doesnt sound like the old stuff because Tom isnt there to lead under sams vocals. It just doesnt sound like the old stuff and i feel like they are making a point by saying "hey we cant do that sound anymore, we can only hope to move on musically and evolve into our next phases of life." I will forever love this band. Old and New. Sams lyrics are at some points in my life were the only things standing between me and that shell that i turn into when shit comes back. But they will forever hold a place in my heart. I would say to listen to another one, do one on Nhilist by architects. Its by far lyrically the most impressive in my opinion. Much love from the US.
Lyrics man… definitely read the lyrics! “I found God clutching a razor blade.. He said look at the fucking mess they made.. they’d trade their hearts if they were made of gold, but they’re as worthless as the souls they’ve sold. “
Teddy i just love that you're going from only rap to a metalhead as well. I watch all your reactions and you're by far my favorite reactor! Love from the Netherlands!

So glad to hear you react to these guys Teddy, Architects have been one of my top bands since I first heard them (Always, from the Ruin album for what it's worth. Yes, I've been a fan that long). I love their older stuff. Lost touch a little as I moved into other genres over the last few years, but always come back to them. They deserve every accolade they get. I won't go back over the background of this song, because others in the comments already have, but I will say that the track was made with the collaboration of Mick Gordon, (he did the Doom 2016 soundtrack, which is full of absolute bangers). Anyway, Architects; Brighton band, lovely blokes, the singer Sam Carter is a Man United fan, they're very outspoken about their political and environmental beliefs, have ten albums now?
