This kind of game mode has sort of already been done with the Full Invasion 2 mod for Warband, and I so believe the Full Invasion team are already working on bringing their mod to Bannerlord!
I hope Sargon plays Full Invasion, its so good, I think he'd really like the ancient Greek theme or LOTR.

then after Bandera learns "Scandinavian" everyone speaks modern English.
I understand why they did it from a practical point of view, but it's funny none the less.

The 13th Warrior is one of my all time favourites.

Just stumbled on this channel and my god, this is adorable! Listening to Sarge swooning over a game like this is so fun, like watching a baby jumping with glee at seeing a Lego set.
Do some more streams of it and maybe CK2 or something. Last one was quite enjoyable.

There was the full invasion mod for warband which was a horde survival set in different worlds like lord of the rings and sometimes starwars!
Honestly, it had one of the best mod communities going, so many total conversations out there for warband.
This is kinda on the same concept of Full Invasion 2 where you have to survive from wave after wave of AI bots. The only bit that's missing is the upgrading feature/protection system.
That was an awesome movie.
Love to see it made into a game.
I'd love to see a 13th Warrior campaign mode where you start as Ibn and find your 11 Nordic companions, plus one German, and play through a storyline campaign.

YES! This is one of my top 5 favorite stories; let alone movies. This film got so much shit from the studio during filming and it was amazing IN SPITE of the studio. I’ve wanted a video-game based on this for so long and Bannerlord may just be the vessel we need to get to it. LETS MAKE 13 WARRIORS HAPPEN!

Also I do agree! It needs a hardcore mode "7 Samurai" with just 7 players. I mean: that is like half of the original book and play - assembled 7 Samurai warriors establish defences around the village and fight off the bandits. It's well known and well loved idea.
There is a mod for mount and blade: warband called "full invasion" where you hold off waves of AI and earn points for upgrades to your character. They have different maps and themes, LOTR, ancient Greece, crusaders, generic fantasy. Its fantastic fun and the community is great. I'll never forget my first time blasting waves of orcs at the walls of helms deep with my wizard buddies till they pushed us back to the keep where In the close melee I picked up a fallen sword and shield to fruitlessly attempt to hold the line. There are tuff bosses in the boss waves and you can even be a hero character if you're good enough.
some ideas to add upon that
1. perhaps the peasants can also fight but it's obviously within your best interest that they don't die. perhaps they may also contribute to your pool of money (i.e. they pitch in a couple of gold, lore wise is that they need to buy food and supplies for themselves)
2.you (and your teammates) have limited action you can do, i.e. train, build barricades, or work to get money (or perhaps loot dropped by peasants don't automatically sell, your character might have to leave to go to the many town and sell it. it can also serve as a way to get better equipment for the other players)
3. Caravaneers and mercenaries can come to your town and you can buy goods off of them (better prices) and mercenaries can either be permanent or temporary to a certain number of battles.
4. each player, heavily specialize in a play-style (i.e. ranger has roguery, bow/crossbow, athletics, one hand) and it unlocks certain abilities or skills during the prep-phase, i.e. a cavalry specialist can scout to see what the enemy size or type would be and perhaps in the late game if they can have a band of cavalry do skirmishes that will reduce the enemy count
5. if a player gets injured they are unable to act during the prep-phase (and perhaps get half health during the battle) but worse off they cannot do their specialized ability. )
6. Lore-wise it could be about the Dragon Banner and various looters who want to get it for money, to mercenaries and near the end kingdoms are gunning after it

Man, I came here for the Video Game coverage 8 years ago, and we’ve come full circle.
Or make one called "Invasions" with similar Kingdom defense + mulitplayer.
Use invading waves of armies inspired by Vikings, Turks, Steppe Hordes/Khans, Al-Andalus, etc.
That would make the TwatterREEE have a fit, I'm sure.
this makes me think of a sort of black-ops zombies in bannerlord; repairing walls and doing everything else described.
There was such thing called the full invasion mod for warband which was similar to what you're describing. Waves of attackers would come in and they'd get harder and harder, you and all your fellow online teammates would work together and create choke points etc to fend off the incoming invaders. It's coming for bannerlord too.

Muheh, I played this in Combat arms many years ago. :D Only with firearms and protecting a hut against waves of zombies (got really pretty tough in a couple of rounds). Damn fun, keeping the defense up along with co-players one can only judge based on their equipment and mods.
The other coop map was Back hawk down-like play of charging through what indeed resembled Mogadishu, killing every diaper head before it could shoot. Incidentally, however, it was cancelled (even before I moved off Windows). One can but wonder why...
There was similar mode to this in Company of Heroes 1, called ‘Stonewall’ in more an RTS context. However such an idea could easily be made for a game like Bannerlord as a castle defence / 13th warrior mode. Upgrade fortification & defences, upgrade units and armaments and such. Do it like Killzone where you can change the difficult level, and could have a certain number of rounds, or infinite hordes.

Team defense of a soft target is one of the least popular and most valuable military drills. Keeping your opponents, allies, and target in the correct lines of fire is 80% of the battle. Anyone can blow up an enemy camp that lacks hostages.

There is a mod for Warband called Full Invasion 2 that is literally what you are describing here. Not only that, it has what seems like hundreds of historical and fictional factions you can play as, like the standard in game factions, the lotr races, modern day soldiers, fucking zombies, star wars stuff, historical armies throughout from all over the world and much, much more.
They already created this mod for Warband. It's called Full Invasion / Full Invasion 2, except it can be more than 13 players. In fact, I showed you it a long time ago and you commented on it. On NA we're having a competition the next couple days and Saturday, 6v6 man tournaments.

The "Viking Conquest" DLC for Warband has a multiplayer gamemode where you fight off waves of enemies. There is nothing about upgrading defences or your gear, but it's kinda similar.

There was an entire mod dedicated to this concept in Warband called Full Invasion, thoughin traditional warband MP fashion it was often 64 players against hundreds of enemies.
There's something called the full invasion 2 mod in Warband which is exactly what you describe, a wave/round based never-ending defense mode and since they aren't limited by copyright you could have a lotr map where you defend Helm's Deep or one where you play as the 300 spartans fighting the persians. I have fond memories making shield walls and pushing back the tide.
I played the hell out of Helm's deep in Warband back in the day. Nostalgia hits hard.
For me this movie is right up there with "Conan the Barbarian" and "Excalibur" as far as I'm concerned: It's hard to explain why. These are movies where the word "epic" isn't an empty superlative, but an apt description. Sargon's video made me want to buy this flick on bluray, only problem is THERE ISN'T ONE! (at least in the US) !! Dammit Touchstone, get off your ass put one out before I decide to "sail the high seas" and hunt down a rip of the German bluray release!
There are stories of marines in similar situations in sub zero temperatures creating walls for cover out of the frozen bodies of their enemies.
Personally, I would really like a linear story based multiplayer mode where you fight as a soldier sieging castles and fighting massive battles in the past great battles of calradia. Each time you successfully complete a segment of missions you would level up possibly be promoted (in whichever factions army you were serving in) get and anything you were able to pickup and some resources as well which you could sell/buy/use and build a family and then when you die continue as your son/daughter.

Would love to see him play Mordhau. The game is amazing with its mechanics and high skill ceiling, but the "wholesome" community is what really keeps me coming back. Probably the most spergy and autistic gaming fandom I've ever seen. The in-game chat is practically a live 4chan forum.

nah, IMHO bannerlord, as the older mount and blade, is mainly a single player game. The multiplayer is more of a minigame. Single player has economy, diplomacy, tournaments marriage, kids, skill trees, troop management... heck, it's a totally other game.

Seven Samurai (as in the film - Akira Kurosawa) is a game mode is what I've always wanted. Think CS style level with traps and barricades where the Ronin defend against increasing hordes of bandits but defending the villagers and loot etc . If you wanted to get OP get inspiration from the Takeshi Miike film Last Samurai , some insane traps going on there

Cooperative games are so under rated.
I can see it now, sargon gets a pyrrhic win and is left with one unit standing alone in an open field. then that unit gets a sudden arrow to the back of the head follow by a "shit, sorry" by dank.

This is a great idea. It sounds much like "horde mode" in Mordhau, only much more involved. Captain mode is awesome, while skirmish and siege are kinda crappy versions of Mordhau. I hope we get to play a full army mode in PvP at some point as this is where the true brilliance that M&B brings to the table lies. Keep posting more Bannerlord thoughts and gameplay.

Bannerlord singleplayer needs Crusader Kings 2 mechanics. Landed Titles. Succesion Laws. War Cooldown. Fabricating Claims. Assasinating
Star Wars battlefront 2 has a co-op mode that’s kinda similar to what you’re talking, and it’s easily my favorite mode.
More games need these type of co-op modes, hope they add something like it.
Don't worry, once they open up the multiplayer to mods, multiplayer will be great again like it was in Warband. Sadly it wasn't better developed on launch, but I have faith in Taleworlds. Great idea, thanks for promoting the game to your audience.
I'd be happy if they had a Wendol faction pack running around at night in the far north that are OP in game.
If they don't the modders will. The modding scene for M&B Warband was insane. And apparently they have said that Bannerlord will be even more moddable. I expect to see LoTR, Star Wars, and many many more type of mods. One missing from Warband, as far as I know, was a mod set in the Conan universe, I really want a Bannerlord Conan mod.

Generally I think Co-Op M&B would be great. It could include missions like these or lobbies where friends/randoms can play on the map as a party, allies or even enemy kingdoms - without the missions and probably with a lobby limit of 2 or 3 people max participating.
Man, when you think about it, a movie that has vikings up against Wendigo is the most metal thing imaginable. It also doesn't hurt that most of the characters have their own individual personality.

This existed (still exists?) in the Napoleonic Wars expansion for Warband, in that server owners frequently ran siege battles against AI. I can remember holding a winter fort as the French against a horde of Russian Partisani.
I would also like to point out that the actor playing the leader in the 13th warrior is a huge czech dude who even starred in the 1st season of vikings and doesnt ever get the credit he is due.
