On August 29, 2005, Slidell, Louisiana, took a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina. The resulting storm surge engulfed over 40 percent of the city, and the storm's winds damaged or destroyed over 90 percent of homes and businesses.
We vowed we'd be back, stronger and better. We've kept that promise.
On August 29, 2015, we will celebrate ten years of recovery and rebirth.

I can still smell it! The last time I walked out of my house before it made landfall I stopped in the doorway and said my goodbye's..I just knew it wasn't going to be their when I came back. I lived S.E.of Slidell almost to Hwy 90..I almost stayed glad I didn't.
