The Honda Civic is running a K24a2 engine with all stock internals detuned to 206whp for this power to weight limited class at 2610lbs with driver. It's running a 265 width front tire and 225 width rear tire to help give it rotation. The Toyota MR-S is running a 2AR engine out of a Toyota Camry Hybrid making an estimated 190-200whp currently but due to mechanical issues, may be running even less. We'll get it figure out, we wont give up.

I can’t say enough good things about GLTC. Never in any racing do you see so many drivers leaving the track with gigantic grins across their face no matter where they finished, and you guys really captured the emotions and happenings perfectly.

Absolutely, GLTC is rapidly shaping up to be one of the most interesting/exciting/downright fun divisions in all of Motorsport. The approachability, fun racing, and massive field make it a joy to watch as a fan and also to (hopefully) participate in the next (or one after) seasons if I can get the finances required to field a car properly. Fine driving out there!
This is one of, if not the best episode of Gears and Gasoline. Even without the last race dramatics you guys made racing content that is fun, exciting to watch. Great jobs Bens, big things coming for 2024!

While the loss was heartbreaking, the best part of that video was watching Thorn slowly come to the realization that he can hang right with the guys at the top and he deserves to be there.

Thorn, I know I'm just a guy behind a computer screen, in front of a keyboard, in the youtube comments section, but I cannot overstate how proud I felt watching your performance in race #4. I've been watching gears and gasoline avidly for 5 or so years now, but watching you grow into the GLTC driver that you are has been what hooked me into the gears and gasoline channel.
As absolutely heart wrenching as that mechanical failure was, I hope you feel proud of what you've accomplished this season. Going from back of the pack to nearly snagging a podium within one season is a REMARKABLE feat. I can't wait to see you transform from budding grassroots driver to GLTC champion, and I have no doubts that you're going to achieve great things. GLTC is one of the best curated and sanctioned events in motorsports. I hope to see it continue to grow and attract talented homegrown drivers and builders. This is proper racing. Not overly limited in the scope what you can bring, but rather how much you can get out of a certain P/W by choosing for more power/tire or more aero as you see fit. I love it.
I dont think ive ever been more emotionally invested in a video. I genuinely have goosebumps. No matter whether youve raced or not, everyones had that feeling of doing their best, getting ahead, and then something outside of your control pulls you back. Now its up to you to crawl back up. Amazing video.

I am praying for you both to have ONE weekend where your cars perform and there aren't any mechanical faults. It hurt so much to hear the shouting in the Civic during the last lap.

I seriously cannot wait for when Lin gets his car all together so he can finally drive confidently and consistently. I believe that’s the issue with Lin right now, I don’t think it’s a car problem. But no matter what, I love seeing Lin race in the MRS

@@JonHop1I mean. Okay yeah, but I also think that the constant loses and poor performance from Lin has him at a mental block. Do you remember Romain grosjean in f1 when he lost all the time but right when got a lucky break his confidence shot through the roof and so did his overall performance? I think that’s what Lin needs. And a working engine😅
@ImMcRingo it's both. He's frustrated because his car has so many problems. And a lot of that is on him trying to be different and go outside the box so far. Mr2 Spyder not a great course chassis(unless u have unlimited funds).. And the engine selection was risky. No one uses it for racing like that, which is why they are chasing so many issues and it's down on power.
I remember when you and Lin just drive off with weird car choices for a road trip. Now you're actually getting up there with real talents, what a development for you and Ben Lin mann, have my support :))

I haven’t screamed at my television the entirety of my life watching F1 the way I started screaming when Thorn couldn’t get into (4th?) gear. I’ve been watching Gears and Gasoline for years and years, and I’ve never been so proud of both Ben’s, and never felt so much empathy for a video. One way or the other… y’all are just killing it. But I do wanna see the Laguna Seca comeback next year ❤

Driving an active project like the MR-S makes it so much harder to even focus on refining your driving. Leguna Seca really brought out some crazy moments. Was awesome meeting you Ben, and seeing the MR2 in person!

I’ve been watching you guys for years. Since your first Alaska trip! I’ve Watched every video I could as soon as it was released. I was there when you did the civic and mx5 challenge video and watched you and the civic grow from there. I really felt this loss. All that work all that effort accumulated into one moment that was so cruelly taken away from you. But you have proved that you have winning in you and the car! This won’t be your last opportunity many many more will come and I and many other people will be here to watch that story unfold. What a fantastic drive

Sitting here watching Thorn's 4th race and my heart was pounding, getting so excited that he's gonna do it, and then seeing the issue with the shift in that corner hurt, but the first two "NO!," that was heartbreaking.

One of the best, if not the best video by far from you guys! That last lap gave me flashbacks to the LMP1 Toyota at LeMans when they broke down on the last lap. I had watched the last race live and was absolutely amazed at how well you led that race Ben! You have progressed so much as a driver over the season. I was heartbroken when I saw it start to slip away from you and I knew it had to be something mechanical. So, I have 25 years of race experience and I would love to pass some of the things I have learnt on to the two Bens
For Ben T: Stick to your pace! Whether you are chasing or leading, stick to that rythym you have built up. The very second you start thinking to yourself "maybe I can brake that metre later or pick up the throttle that half a second earlier", that's when you make mistakes and go backwards. Racing isn't about making no mistakes, it's about making less mistakes than everyone else, so, drive smooth and try to put the pressure on the guys around you to make the mistakes. And always check those 50 cent parts. They will 100% ruin your day when you don't......... I think you know that now, ha ha
For Ben L: Relax, mate! You are putting way too much pressure on yourself. Honestly, the more fun you have, the better you will drive. Take some positives from the weekend. You were battling with people and I saw a sneaky move here and there, too. That's huge progress! You are learning and you will never stop learning, so, you may as well have some fun with the people you are racing with whether that is position no where or the lead of the race. Your speed will come with confidence, your confidence will come with enjoyment, so, focus on having fun first. Really happy you have stuck with the MRS rather than trying to force that Evo to race, too. Nothing beats an NA race engine
