Do you think Datura's hallucinogenic properties could offer insights into altered states of consciousness? Do you think Datura stramonium should be studied more for its potential medical benefits, or should it be strictly avoided due to its toxicity? Tell us in the comments!
Every plant displaying such properties as this one should be systematically researched for the very simple reason that any and all knowledge of biochemistry is useful in that any new facts serve as more pieces of the giant puzzle of biology. This is true even if no useful drugs are discovered in the process. Knowledge in the physical and life sciences accumulates, and each and every piece of such knowledge can be the key to understanding a given problem......... or the creation of a new drug or other chemical product that can be extremely useful for some industrial purpose.
@@glenmcmillian6206 I agree with you! study and research are very important! Nature is full of useful solutions for human health. Even the most dangerous plant could become valuable if studied
A friend made a tea that caused her to trip for several days. She recalls waking up doing nude yoga several days later with no memory of how she ended up that way.
Back in the mid seventies on a small Island in the Canaries there was a community of hippie folk who partook of the seeds (50 - 100) of this Thorn apple species for some months. (The locals were not too pleased after some bizzare happenings) I was there and tried it twice. It is seriously disorientating and sets your blood racing, you see things, things disappear, eyesight gets blured and you cannot read any printed text for days after. It is hard to communicate with anyone after the first hour. Time stops or goes backwards. Light is amplified Not recommended, but it is a very strange experience and people on it do some very, very weird and unpredictable things...basically the early signs of poisoning? (best left alone) Spiritually it removes you to another dimension which in wise hands can be experieced as interesting or enlightening. Thanks for the video.
Ta the excellent video. Subscribed. The Afrikaans term for Datura, maalpite as you say, actually means "crazy seeds", in reference to the hallucinogenic properties. Datura has well colonised large areas of Southern Africa. All the best from Namibia.
Definitely learning. So far I've smoked it. Used tinctures and flower essence and flying ointment. So far the most effect I've had is from the ointment. It would make me feel warm like a wine buzz and start having visions while drifting off to sleep. Also have experienced an aphrodisiac effect from it which was unexpected. Using the ointment it seemed to consciously mention itself in dreams during use. I am growing some. Have not ingested or plan to. The ointment also seems to cause a slight fever and at one point sleeplessness for a couple of days.
I have two in my bedroom I potted and brought inside. I've never been brave (or foolish) enough to try ingesting some of it but I've always been fascinated by reports. Always wanted to try.
don't swallow the seeds ! don't one seed is a high dose. You need to make a tincture and micro dose. Or don't do it at all. I know one guy that is now a vagrant, but he is not homeless. His family never kicked him out, and he has a place to stay. He's on a permanent high, he never came back down. He does not know or recognise anyone from his life. He lives on the street.
@@avibhagan I haven't thought about this much in the past couple years but I did do some research a while back. It seems the safest way to take it is topically. As in an ointment. I even tried to make one, it had no effect when I used it but that's because I though I could use my own method to make it. Flying ointments are one of the ways it was used traditionally in Europe. I guess I might try again some time but at this point I'm more into Buddhism then Shamanism.
@@socialmediaaccount404 , Well the plant is originally from India (but there is also a new world species , that has the same effects). So there are traditional Hindu methods of preparation. So there may be some Buddhist methods as well. The plant is associated with Lord Shiva.
I'm looking for the variety called Purple Ballerina. It just look pretty with the double-petaled flower. I don't know if it's Datura stramonium or D. metel tho.
I think this is not as dangerous as the Castor Oil seed. I have used a lot of Datura as a vision plant. It is a dark tunnel and it was not for me. We call Datura Stinkblaar in Afrikaans. Stink leaf.
Yes it's poisonous, still Indians got remedy for it which works like an antidote and flush out the poison totally with in hours, India is not for beginners😂

Wow, thanks for sharing this event with us. I agree with you, although the effects may seem curious, they are best avoided. The risks are high.
I studied with a Peruvian curandero in the Andean highlands and his words to me apply 100 percent to Datura - "The plants are here to help us."
Beautiful! I agree. Thanks to plants we have a lot of extremely useful medicines. Nature is amazing!
Really ? There are tons of plants that will KILL you as many mushrooms too. Do NOT encourage people to take this !!!!

A+ on your report. Ya found new cool station.
Caster seeds gives Caster Oil, is also used as Luxetive, and oil is used as good lubricant for Mecanical parts to reduce friction।
Castor. Laxative.
Some of the pictures appear to be brugmansia not datura
The family is the same and the flowers are very similar.
@@DontCallMeChickenOfficial this is true. Brugmansias flowers hang down and datura flowers are erect.
I experimented with datura....I will never do it again
Was it a bad experience? Do you want to tell us the symptoms you had?

This plant must be studied. Other people have already used it as a natural remedy, so it must have something positive for humanity.
I agree with you!
anyone can buy these seeds from any USA garden shops!

Why using an a.i.-voice?
I have a Datura plant in my room.
thrown in a different direction , it is very dangerous
