Maybe they never read past the part that describes it being a domain of single-celled microorganisms.

Man, if there's one thing this video shows, it's just how homogeneous this genre has become

That is the point of having genres, to group bands together that have a similar style

Light Phobia Don't get me wrong I agree with you, if only because without genres and subgenres I might have to sift through Linkin Park, Staind, and Limp Bizkit before finding a metal song I like, but I also think djent and metal in general can be pretty stylistically repetitious. Sometimes I feel like a lot of metal subgenres exist simply to tell listeners "expect 15 seconds of the same thing with slight variations to show up in almost every song by artists in this subgrouping." I guess for djent it's "Insert palm-muted low note here. Repeat in complex pattern. Low note must only be playable on a guitar with 7 strings or more."

Zevie Well, I did research on what Djent REALLY means. People are too hung up on what it IS, and not what it infers. Djent contains the most complex, mathematically equated time signatures. A lot of Djent bands actually write out breakdowns according to timing and the groove factor. And you can tell which ones do. Djent is more about groove and intensity. Which is what I like personally. Zevie, I'd like to get your email so I can send you a song I made out of all the best breakdowns and dubstep drops I've heard, and created a song, not a montage of breakdowns. I'd like your thoughts. Last thing, you cannot tell me that NO ONE has had those moments where you hear a sick as FU** breakdown and it only lasts 4 seconds and never again comes up. Frustrating lol.

if its djent, the guitar is going to djent djent djent djent djent. Fuck.

Every band should release two CDs, one without vocals.
    Or just quit the vocals.
I don't see this music as matching with the emotion of screaming. When can we end this whining?
