I’m certainly no Chargers fan. But I do like watching Herbert throw. But I looked at his stats and he’s at a 67-percent completion percentage, has almost a 3 on his TD-2-INT ratio, and throws well over 4K yards per season. Maybe he was injured last year? I think he only played 13 games but he still threw for a lot of yards. But if you look at Herbert’s mechanics and incredible arm strength you should say, “Wow.” So I’m not convinced the Chargers issues have been his. But as a buddy of mine who was a football coach would say, “That boy could take a squirrel out of a tree at 70 yards.” I loved that expression as it always cracked me up.

As a Chargers fan, it’s what has made his years as a starter so frustrating. He’s got the talent but bad coaching and some untimely decisions by him have led to kinda mediocrity. The hope is Harbaugh fixes that

Yeah he was playing with a fractured finger on his non throwing hand most of the season. Hes a great QB, but Staleys bad defense, coaching, and the inability to run the ball made him and the whole team under achieve. His excuses have been valid. Now that they have Harbaugh, they are focused on running the ball and he doesn’t have excuses anymore

For such a big arm, he's somehow also averaged less than Tua's worst season of air yards per completion every year except 1 (oddly both occurred in 2021), made when Tua had by far the worst offensive line in the league, no running game, and bottom of league in WR separation.

Just stop it. His defense got stops. Score a damn TD when it matters. Last year’s divisional round against Mahomes at the end of the game:
      - 3 and out and turnover on downs
      - punt
      - missed FG after Allen is chucking it into the end zone when they needed to drain some clock
If Allen in 3 drives at the end of the game they might have won that game.
He couldn’t do anything against Cincinnati the year before.
The only defense excuse you have is the 13 seconds game. None of that was on Allen, but that and the Pats game is only when Allen ever looked like a “top 2” QB in the playoffs.

DW will need a breakthrough season but does not need to have such a high statistical season.
The fixation may be that he needs 5k yards, 40 TDs, 10 INTs. If the INTs come at critical points, no one is going to care about the rest of the numbers.
Now, if he goes out there and throws for 3800 yards, 26 TDs and 8 INTs but his touchdowns come at critical times in games and leads to 12 wins, id much rather have that.
Expectation for the team as a whole should be to reach the AFC Championship game.

Lol Tua is 0-6 when the temperature is under 47 degrees. He was 1-6 against playoff teams last year. They feasted on the poor last year. Tua is 6-13 when the Temperature is below 70 degrees. Above 70 degrees he is great! How is he supposed to go to Buffalo or Cincinnati or Kansas City or New England or New York or Baltimore and win late in the year when it really matter and in the playoffs? No I wouldn’t pay Tua anything until he shows me this year that he can do that.

    • @smudgeous4068
      @smudgeous4068 12 днів тому

The only playoff team they faced last year without significant offensive line injury was KC in Germany, a game in which Tua and Mahomes had very similar outputs, both held scoreless for a full half, both finishing under 200 passing yards, both offenses finishing with 14 points. After losing the 2nd best center in football 5 snaps into the Titans game, Miami's ability to rush inside or hold blocks for down field routes to develop both were significantly hampered for every one of the cold weather games as well, not to mention half of the defense being injured during that stretch as well.
The same O-Line injury + major offensive output dropoff happened last season when facing the 49ers and Chargers on the road missing 3/2 starters, respectively.
It's not just a Tua issue either. Mahomes with multiple O-Line starters out in the Super Bowl in Tampa: 26/49 (53.1%), 270 yards, 0 TD, 2 INT and that was with prime Kelce and Tyreek

Justin has consistently held Mahomes lead KC to 1 score games (and OT), even playing them 2x a year. It's a weird take to say division games against Patrick Mahomes are not important.
Joe, Tua and Jalen are lucky to not be in the same division. To go to the playoffs (with good ranking), Justin has to knock off a 3x superbowl champ team. The only good about beating the Chiefs to get to the playoffs, is if/when the Chargers do, they are likely better than anyone else in the AFC or NFC.

Some injury involved, but 1-6 and 2-4 down the stretch for McDaniel is on a hot seat. Their points allowed is 25% more than the top playoff teams, you think they have to blow up Dallas if they fail again, at least they have an offense and defense some of the time. They scored a lot of points against the 2 bad teams at the bottom of their division, and a bad early Broncos and Panthers. Those 2 bad teams are back loaded, it could go either way beat good team early and bad teams late or lose early and late as the coach and QB get fired. They have hard games early, including the Bills, when it's warm out, if they win those games, they could win the division and compete for #1 because of the easier late schedule.

Miami will only go as far as their offensive line will take them. That line lasted 2/3 of a single game last season. The top 3 members of that line played just 1 other game together 10 weeks later. In both of those games Tua had a 89.9 QBR and Miami won by 50/30, respectively. When Williams was injured, they went from 2nd best to worst in league at center and the offense suffered considerably because of it.
Last season Tua put up a 79+ QBR in 7 of the 11 games played with 4+ starting O-Linemen healthy, with 2 of the 4 that he didn't being games he was concussed in, 1 being his rusty game after returning from concussion vs Pittsburgh, and the last being a solid 54.7 on the road in a 3 point loss in Buffalo in mid December. Miami has never lost a game when Tua has had a 75+ QBR.

Regarding scoring points against the teams at the bottom of the division, both teams were bad due to their offensive lines impacting their ability to sustain drives and score. The Jets were the #3 defense and the Pats were #6 going by football reference's "expected points contributed by all defense", both were top 5 in yards allowed per play, and both were tied for 4th fewest passing TD allowed so offensive success against either team should not be discredited.

Chris give me a break with all of the the Bills don’t do enough to help Josh Allen. Josh Allen had 22 turnover last year. He threw the ball to the defense 18 times and had 7 fumbles with 4 of them being lost. In the past 5 years the Bills have had a top 5 defense. In 20, 21, 22, the Bills had a top 5 defense. They have an All Pro Edge rusher. They had 2 All Pro safety’s they had 1 All Pro LB and another Pro Bowl LB they had an All Pro CB and an All Pro WR. Allen has a Pro Bowl LT and until this offseason he had a Pro Bowl Center. He has a Pro Bowl RB until this year he had an All Pro WR and he has a Pro Bowl TE and another potential All Pro TE. And in the last 4 years he had a Pro Bowl Left guard. They got Von Miller one of the best pass rushers of all time. They have numerous other 1st round draft picks on that d line. Gregg Rousseau, Ed Oliver. Sooner or later it’s got to be Allen that’s the problem. You can deflect all you want to and blame everything around you. You saw what I just wrote about the Bills I. The last 4 years. You mentioned the Bengals. How many Pro Bowlers and All Pros have been on the Bengals since 2020? I’ll tell you. Burrow, Mixon, Orlando Brown, Trey Hendrickson, Jamar Chase, and Jessie Bates. That’s it dude. And Mixon is no longer there and Bates left in 2022. Last year it was Burrow, Chase, Orlando Brown, and Trey Hendrickson. That’s it dude. The Bills have had at least 2 times as many All Pros and Pro Bowl players in the last 4 years. It’s like the Cowboys with 9 All Pros on the team last year and they get smoked in the wildcard round as usual. Dak was one of the All Pros last year. Dak cannot perform when the chips are down. Josh Allen hasn’t been able to perform when the chips are down either. In 2022 the Bengals came into Buffalo in the snow with 3 BACKUP OFFENSIVE LINEMEN and fucking beat the brakes off of the Bills. Maybe Burrow is a better leader. Burrow can perform when the chips are down. Burrow performs BETTER when the chips are down! Burrow plays better in big games than he does in not so big games. Sooner or later you are going to have to look at Josh Allen. If the Bills go 10-7 this year and Allen throws 20 interceptions and they are bounced in the wildcard round what will be your excuse this time? Better start working on it now because that’s what you have to look forward to.

Number 1, without question, is Justin Herbert, because right now he is easily the most overrated QB in football. He's supposed to be this "elite, franchise-changing" QB, and he still doesn't even have a playoff win. It's put up or shut up time for Justin Herbert. I understand having Deshaun Watson as #1, but honestly, I think that ship has sailed. I don't believe that Deshaun Watson is a starting caliber QB anymore. Period. He just isn't good anymore, and I think that the Browns will be drafting a QB in next year's draft. And finally, yes Josh Allen needs a breakthrough, but based on all of the turnover on the Bills defense, I think that it is clear that this is a reset year for the Bills. So I don't expect the Bills to make it to the Super Bowl this year.

You don’t pay quarterbacks on wins, you pay them on talent and value brought to the team. Josh Allen is Buffalo’s offense, just as Lamar is for ravens. Herbert has been the one consistently good thing for the chargers in his tenure.
Allen put his team up with 13 seconds left, then set his kicker up to win the game, defense and special teams let him down.

The others aren't surrounded with the same talent. Expectations are nice but after half a decade you should know the ceiling of your talent. @@danielpittijr6283 I think Harbaugh fumbled the opportunity by removing the run from the Ravens game plan. It put everything on him, as they had 27 non-lame rushing yards. So many things need to go right. He also had a receiver fumble into the endzone on what should’ve been a touchdown catch if the guy were smarter. He’s worked with subpar weapons every year.
Dak is exactly like Cousins to me, good enough that you don’t want to reset by moving on, but not good enough to win when it counts. It’s hard, because they’re good, they’re just not great. I don’t feel like they elevate the team around them. The QB market has made guys like GD Daniel Jones rich AF, that should tell you it’s broken. The only teams outside of the superstars that got the contract right to me is Tampa and Seattle. Baker is worth $30M per year, that feels dead on. Geno was worth $25M per year. Harbaughs coaching style wont translate to the NFL, and realistically he was not that great in college. He ended well but Michigan is a great program and they were still an afterthought for most of those years. He could of stayed and cemented his legacy in college but now he will flop out of the NFL and return in 2 or 3 years. Herbert is great, they will probably win 9 or 10 games and miss the playoffs cause how loaded the AFC is.
