Nevada Supreme Court directs Jon Gruden's case to arbitration | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC
/ nflonnbc - Спорт
I'm no fan of Gruden, but this case deserves to be tried in an open court.
… and put the NFL & the owners under a microscope? The owners & their “private” emails would be exposed. These guys are Billionaires. Billionaires control this country & they don’t like being exposed.
Not if he signed a contract with an arbitration clause it doesn’t.
He's getting the orangeman lawfare treatment but fighting back ...if Roger G. is against anything or anyone then I'm for that thing or person...Roger ruined a guy devoted to football his whole life...and...should have gave TB12 the $20 million
@@thomashartmann2891 Forced Arbritation is wrong. Tort reform is desperately needed, sure, but arbitration is not impartial to both parties.
@@ADUSN When you willingly sign a contract with an arbitration clause, it’s not forced.
I’m not a big Gruden fan, but he is getting screwed on this. He deserves a chance to fight this out in court.
I hope Gruden does not let this go.
Me too. I want to see all the racist texts
He insulted the NFL union head, who is a black man, no black players would play for Gruden, so you can't win games 😆
@@user-xm5pj2cs6n not a single player believes Gruden is a racist. I’m not saying he’s innocent. He said what he said, anyone would have been fired/let go.
The issue is the targeted nature of this release. What was the response to his emails? There’s thousands of emails not being shown the light of day.
@@lucristianx about 600k email will not be released.
@@user-oq7ji2rx4l right and I don’t expect them to if they had fired others involved. But it was just targeted against one man.
I stand with Gruden
Of course you do
You going to spit or swallow?
On your knees soldier!!!
Same here , I stand with coach gruden
They were his words. 😂
The NFL paid off the Nevada S.C.
yep, money talks. does anybody really have any kind of faith in our legal system anymore? we can all see with our own eyes what is really going on. and not just with football.
also why have the emails never been made public? all we have ever heard is every bodys assumption of what is in them. never the facts.
@@drunkwolf2477 More of the influence of the NFL: they control the emails, and "somehow" the damaging ones from Gruden were leaked to the press for publication. ALL of the OTHER emails are deemed, BY THE NFL, as "confidential" and not appropriate for release to the public, and by sending the case to arbitration, the Nevada SC made it impossible for the public to learn who in the League office conspired to "leak" the slanderous Gruden emails.
Just like the federal SC. Everyone talks about clearance Thomas scandals but we still don't know who paid all of Kavanaugh cc debt, $1.2 mil mortgage, and other debts. I would not be surprised at all if it's happening.
In modern times, large corporations no longer have to pay off another powerful entity. Large institutions incorporations tend to work with each other to maintain the status quo. They will only allow a disruption to the system if they think and or believe the threat will not burn everything down. All the court members have to do is just go into a back room and talk with each other about the what-if scenario
NFL doesn’t need to pay off the Nevada SC, they have enough power to make it go away without that
This case needs to go to the US Supreme Court. Get out of Nevada
Raiders started 3-0 that year, then the emails came out. Think about it . . .
They couldn’t beat the chiefs so you can chill on that scenario
@@mefirst2576he’s saying they don’t like to see the raiders succeed, you chief fans are the most annoying people on the earth. YOUR TEAMS GOOD BUT THEYRE NOT INVOLDED IN EVERYTHING IN THIS WORLD
@@mefirst2576we whooped you on Christmas. Just saying
They were 3-1 before the emails I’m Die Hard Raiders and watched that Charger game MNF! Chiefs got whipping last Christmas and Raider team just getting BETTAH
As a die hard Raider fan ( tattoo over my heart ) The Forty whiners have the most annoying fans!!! And Bless the Chiefies for whipping their ass!!!! I was seriously going to throw up if the Whiners celebrated in RAIDER HOUSE!!! Plus…plus Art Shell n Marcus Allen be Chiefs at one time…AFC WEST FOREVER
This is why I watch pft because Mike tells the truth about the nfl. Subscriber for life
Under no circumstances should anyone use someone’s emails period. 5th amendment applies here. No exceptions! What The NFL did was egregious and they should pay a shit ton fine. We have a right to our own thoughts and feelings no exceptions PERIOD!
I understand your sentiment, but anyone who thinks they have an expectation of privacy with use of email is fooling themselves.
@@melindaostergren8115 no it’s the constitution. The NFL hasn’t the legal authority to do this. It’s not unrealistic to expect people to adhere to the constitution. We’ve had a bunch of criminals in Washington for a very long time that have used the constitution for toilet paper and it’s time we find out who the patriots are and the traitors are once and for all. Vote them out and boot the rest out. If we don’t it will get worse and if it gets any worse it’ll look like the CCP is running the country. You have to stand up for your constitutional rights as well and not fake laws that congress or the president puts in place. I personally believe our government is a captured operation but we gotta keep trying to hold these crooks accountable. This goes higher than the NFL because they couldn’t have pulled this off without first permission inside the government and help from the same people. You can’t throw up your hands ya gotta say no no no. Is there a cost of course freedom isn’t free it does cost something. I’m standing up for Gruden not because I love the guy but because if I don’t will there be anyone to stand up for me and the rest of you if we say oh it’s no use you’re naive. I won’t accept that answer sorry.
No, emails are not private documents. Especially not sent on work email accounts.
@@dannyquilter8366 you can’t access emails legally without a court order. If you steal someone’s texts or emails without a court order you can be jailed. You can’t just Willy Nilly take someone’s emails or text. Get a court order if you can prove that someone was trying to break the law ex: if you have threatened someone’s life but you still need to convince a judge before you can get a court order sorry but we still have rights here. This is why it was anonymous because they knew they were clearly on shaky legal grounds.
Emails SHOULD be used and I want to see the NFL’s, owners and other figure heads. Gruden and Snyder were the fall guys.
Considering that the Nevada government approved the public funding for the Raiders stadium, this does not surprise me.
Gruden deserves this resolved in the Courts .. in Arbitration the NFL will get the confidentiality they denied Gruden. Horrible.
They're his words. Who cares
UA-cam censorship
I've said "that girl is stacked" and "that guy looks like a conehead" .. in private, to a friend. I've never said anything about race. Gruden said someone's lips were big - a true statement. In private to a friend. And never mentioned race. People can comment on bizzare physical features and have no racial agenda.. Not good enough for political operatives who want to mire them and fire them for the sake of agenda.
@@OmahaSand ok. He could have made that case. What's your point
That IS the point. A person inside the NFL or that the NFL hired to perform investigative work. Who was supposed to investigate confidentially .. Felt is necissary to Leak information to media outlets that was.. crass or in poor taste.. But not racist and cost someone a Multi million dollar job. While doing everthing they could to dress it up with racist lipstick. Gruden WAS NOT an NFL employee at the time of his email. This was a HIT job .. a purposeful smear .. And the person that did it won't see justice in "arbitration"
Mike: I will not talk that long
*25min later*
Mike: thanks for watching PFT on UA-cam
lol I thought the same thing
Makes no sense to make it go to arbitration. He was not an employee of the NFL when the emails were sent. This about the targeted nature of this investigation.
In all honesty forced arbitration should be illegal.
Great show Mike! Always good to get different stories that don't just cover the "Sport" of Football but also those stories that cover the "Business" of the NFL. Show Me the Money!
Off of the best segments from Florio, especially the “integrity of the game” part of it. Thanks Mike.
These segments are the ones that keep me watching Florio. Appreciate the legal insight.
Outrageous ruling. Gruden isn't a saint, but the behavior of the NFL in this case is egregious. Gruden deserves his day in open court. We need to know how this came down and who was responsible.
This is a lot bigger issue than the Gruden thing. The person who had the emails "Blackmailed" the Raiders into firing Gruden and that person was obviously someone high up in the league office because only they had access to these files. The real issue is that the Gruden blackmail was public and whoever released those emails cud also be using them to blackmail people in private. It is possible that the NFL cud use that info or any other that they use their wide net to obtain to force people in the NFLPA to do what they want or force a certain owner to vote the way they want. No one even considers if these emails were used to "convince" Daniel Snyder to sell the Commanders. Companies constantly use dirty tactics to gain any advantage they can and it really looks like the Nevada supreme court ruled with the money not the law but even our Federal Supreme Court is a joke now. To be honest I have thought Gruden was a clown since that MNF football game where he hated on COlt Mccoy the whole night just to deflect from the fact his brother is a clown who got the starter alex smith hurt because the normal pass pro back smashed his side chick and got benched. Whats funny is I used to watch college cuz I thought they were better people than the NFL then I realized they are both horrible so I might as well watch the better product but ever since the Ben Rothlesburger thing I have known that the NFL is an evil company just like a lot of the rest. Tbh I think the whole gambling take is crazy cuz I doubt if it was Snyder or Goodell they wudnt want to bring any attention that they were responsible by making any bets, the only way that gambling cud be involved is if the person who had the info wasnt part of the league and if that was the case the NFL wud be a lot more interested in finding out who "really did it"
Shuda, wuda, cuda
Like what happened in the NBA to Donald Sterling.
This is an absolute masterclass of breaking down the intricacies of this situation.
This case is not over. Grudens team will appeal to not go thru arbitration cuz Goodell is the case & jury here literally, the nfl will anticipate this will be heard by higher courts. Far from over!
Great breakdown Mike! Im always amazed the NFL allows you to have a job!
So,...we can count on justice not being served.
We are getting the United Soviet States of Amerika good and hard and its only just begun.
Billionaire is under investigation, millionaire pays the price. Sounds like "trickle down" economics to me 😂
I hope Gruden wins, Goodell is a crook
Thank you for plainly explaining what happened without bias or coloring.
Thank you for this mike. This is why you’re the best
Thanks Mike much appreciated
Great breakdown. Lot of nuances about the case that has never been discussed
For an organization that keeps asking for public funds to build their stadiums they should be scrutinized more for how they wield the power that they have.
Gruden should get around 200 million
Thank you for doing this video…. Absolutely correct. There is no integrity in the game at all.
Such an informative video. Thank you very much. Mike!
This is why I watch florio
Dammit, Florio! I watched all the way to the end. I want a cookie! What do you mean, "That's just something people say?" Where's your integrity, man?
Obviously, I kid. Mike Florio has more integrity than 99% of anybody in sports broadcasting, and I appreciate it. Bravo, to Florio. Well said. I want this resolved in open court. The Gruden thing, not the lack of a cookie, which I still think Florio owes me. SEND ME A COOKIE MIKE!!! :)
Raider Nation since 1967:
Thank you for the excellent and thorough explainer.
I am extremely concerned about the apparent corruption within the hierarchy of the NFL.
Mike thanks for breaking it down and predicting probable future outcomes you made it interesting
Gruden deserves his day in court. Especially because of how he was specifically targeted and his job and season was deliberately sabotaged. The NFL is shady as hell and based on how this was executed, they should get what they deserve also.
The 4th ammendment violated, total hit job on Gruden, bottom line, never use electronic messaging, FACE TO FACE OR DON'T SAY IT TYPE IT....
Great stuff, as always Sir!! Keep the legal analyses flowing!
The business interest of the state will trump whats right or wrong. No one will want to do business in Nevada if the Nevada Supreme court sides with Gruden over a corporation. The jdges couldn't care less about whats right or wrong, they are there to protect Nevada's interests.
i actually agree with mike Florio on this to a degree!!!
Great job Mike!!!!!
As soon as SkyNet becomes self aware, they will be busting people for what they are thinking.
Sports + Business + Law + Politics!!! Great job, Florio!!
I agree with the point that who ever was behind this, took a giant crud on the integrity of the game.
Roger Goodell…been known he never liked Gruden
@@clintbronson5 AND the emails criticized Goodell. There's ZERO chance Goodell wasn't behind this.
AMAZING IN DEPTH analysis !!! THANK YOU !!!
This reminds me of Sam Rothstein getting jobbed by the Gambling Commission in casino.😂😂😂
Florio....
You are the MAN with this stufff!!!!
I don’t support Gruden nor do I ever want him back as coach, but he got hosed with this decision, and the wildest part of it is 1 of the 3 judges didn’t feel like it should have gone to arbitration
I want this to go to open court. That being said, I believe that Dan Snyder leaked the emails.
Jay Gruden was a former DC coach who testified against Snyder-- so Snyder decided to be petty and shifted the spotlight.
Bring this to court. I want to see all the emails with Bruce Allen.
Nice analysis. I know the legal details, being a lawyer as well, but the gambling aspect I did not see! So, thanks Mike!
Thanks for breaking it down for us as only you can. Keep being you Mike. Your awesome.
I appreciate your time on breaking down the Gruden/NFL legal spat
How can private emails be deemed inappropriate? It’s between 2 individuals communicating
As a lawyer i cannot see any basis for this ruling …it’s very troubling…there has to be due process or the rule of law looses its centrality in society.
Mike great analysis, what about a class action by fans as people of interest. That will force a hearing and remind the NFL what this is all about ….the fans without them the NFL is nothing. It matters that the game is fair and no team is unduly hampered in a season.
I don't always agree with Mike's takes but when he hits, his stuff is outstanding. This was incredibly well thought out and presented.
Hats off to you Mike. You have integrity>
Excellent points made,2 tier justice system, I'll be hoping Gruden gets his day in court, but I believe our judicial system is SO BROKEN ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Justice for John!
You know, I had totally forgotten about this case. And it was very interesting to hear the breakdown. I'm not a huge fan of Gruden, but *man* would it be interesting to see everything out in the open.
I'd be very curious to see what kind of dirt lies in all those emails.
And thank you!! This was well worth the watch!
This was a really good breakdown
I'm no lawyer, but he has real damages! Making him accept arbitration sucks.
Jon knew this would happen. Just wait and see what Gruden does next. This will be iconic.
NFL just needs their own department of defense to be legit. Gruden is getting screwed again. 😑
Tells us he's not gonna "talk long". Does a 25+ minute video breaking down JG and these snowflakes.
Roger Goodell has been in the NFL since 1987 and commissioner since 2006. That is 37 and 18 years respectively. There is the old joke about who is the most paid person in the NFL and everyone always picks a player but no one gets the right answer which is Goodell. Money and power can cause the best of us to become corrupt. Goodell could have an open settlement with Gruden and fired whoever leaked this but he will not. NFL owners only care about the profits and appearance of integrity yet a change of guard is always needed to counter potential corruption and shadiness.
As for Gruden's emails, people fake alarm over things people say yet they say the same sh1t but that's another issue or worse. Nonetheless, I hope Gruden gets a reasonable settlement.
Two things: no, not everyone says awful, racist things in private. I don't know anyone who does that, and I certainly don't. I guess it's the company you keep. Second: Goodell is the punching bag for the owners. He keeps the heat off of them and that's why the owners pay him so well. Goodell is easy to dislike, and I dislike him, but whoever replaces him is going to fill the exact same role.
@@alfgwahigain5544 I was addressing people in general. Gruden's comments also included sexual, demeaning, and nudity. It is not only the company you keep when you have coworkers, customers, relatives, social media, contractors, overhearing strangers, or meeting new people at large social gatherings.
As for replacing Goodell, my point is that being in a powerful position for too long can cause corruption, risk of losing objectivity, and favoritism. Yes, NFL owners control this but this is a risk that develops.
The NFL is a very powerful entity and they feel like they can do whatever they want. In this case they went way to far, ruining a man's career and reputation. We all know those emails have other people that would be cancelled also. This was a personal attack on Gruden and the Raiders. This needs to see OPEN COURT.
Thanks Mike we need this type of content
While I think Gruden deserved to be fired and Im glad the emails were leaked, I still think he should get his chance in court.
Florio is awesome! Love his take on legal issues in sports.
As a sports fan law student this was a fascinating segment. I had no idea you have a legal background. It'd be cool to see more content like this.
This needs to go to court so we can see how dirty the NFL is. Most Corporations are doing the same thing to push out whoever they deem undesirable or not conforming to their ideology.
The panel of the NV Supreme Court really twisted and tortured this process. I'd like to know if Gruden's attorneys raised the fundamental unfairness of having a totally biased "arbitrator". Arbitration is a quasi-judicial process and it violates Due Process to have a party (e.g. defendant) also be the arbitrator/judge. That's like having Elon Musk as the arbitrator in a lawsuit against Tesla. I haven't read enough of SCOTUS arbitration decisions, but I'd have to think there is some FLOOR beneath which Due Process in arbitrations cannot fall.
I think the core point is whether the motive for removing Gruden was to protect the integrity of the game, which seems plausible. Notwithstanding, I think this is a great video.
6:57 I love how Mike breaks down the logic behind these processes. I work in IT so this is not my day to day.
The Michelin tire email was pretty funny tho ngl
Excellent breakdown of the case where it stands and what could happen in the future. Keep up the good work.
I've seen a lot of players talking about the Gruden emails and none of them think he was secretly racist and should have been fired.
Thank you for the rundown.
We need a lose/lose ruling in this matter
I'm going to get an oatmeal cookie. Wonderful breakdown.
One of the best sports podcasts period
The fact that the NFL has its own constitution; should give most a hard pause to stop and think, why? It would appear as though the NFL Constitution reigns supreme over the US Constitution when it comes to litigation with this decision from the NV Supreme Court. Florio did a brilliant job in breaking down the political partisanship aspects of the various courts.
Great review of the case and issues. Thank you.
Never write an email you wouldnt want to see the light of day. No privacy on the internet.
I love that Mike can take a step back see stuff for what it is and not just jump on the train what the mass is saying. great job as always
This is good information. As a St. Louis fan, I loathe the NFL and hope they get what's coming to them in the way of Congressional oversight.
He should appeal to scotus or re-file in federal court if the case isn’t barred by the SOL. You want federal judges hearing this case and not state court located in a state heavily influenced by an NFL team
I don't care how it's made...
But I want nothing to do with the Justice Sausage.
Bottom line is the court found Gruden signed a contract in which he agreed to go to arbitration before going to court. Even the dissenting judge on the NV Supreme Court agreed. No one is saying Gruden can’t still get his day in court-just after going through arbitration first. I agree with Florio NFL arbitration is a b.s. process. That said, it’s a b.s. process Gruden agreed to when he signed that contract.
This company misconduct does not seem like a national issue other than the company is a national franchise.
It should be illegal wheb a company breaks a labor law that they can force arbitration
Thank you for breaking it down for us. Please keep us up-to-date with this news when it comes.
I’ve been waiting on anything from this, thank you Mike, gruden deserves justice, got blackballed for not being a yes man
Thanks for sharing.
It’s not democract vs republican. It’s corporatist vs populist.
Wow, this is amazing. A comment section full of squeaky clean people who have never said anything inappropriate wagging their finger at Gruden. This is a first ever! Gruden was completely screwed. He has as much free speech as any of us in here when talking directly to somebody else not involving anyone around them. And every single one of you in here have done things that would be considered inappropriate and/or wrong.
It's a case of left authoritarianism, they want to censor anybody and anything that's perceived as offensive
Your paragraph was a really long way of saying "yes, I've worn blackface."
@@Mascifinlaughing at you for being offended at blackface lol
Free speech doesn't absolve someone from the consequences.
Also, right to privacy doesn't apply here -- he used company emails.
If cuz would have used snail mail this is avoided
He got screwed.
We need an attorney to explain all this...
Screw the behind honking to writing the above. . .
