If I were Brayan Bello and been asked about Cole my response would have been “He’s the defending Cy Young winner, when I win the Cy Young award I’ll comment on his pitching philosophy”. As far as Alex Cora I would think he needs to focus on his own team, which again this year is a disappointment. I watched the game and it did not look intentional to me. As a matter of fact, I believe Cole was rolling at the time ….
Get rid of the IBB. If you want to 'intentionally' walk a batter, you still have to throw normal pitches and throw them out of the strike zone (but the catcher still catching them in their normal position).
Getting rid of the ‘free’ IBB is fine. Not letting the catcher move is stupid. If that actually made the game better then the catcher’s feet should be bolted to the ground at the start of each inning. But that’s not what happens, is it? So why shouldn’t they be allowed to shift to better catch the ball? It’s an INTENTIONAL walk. The intent matters. Communicating that intent matters, too.
You will be whining like every year in the last 15 years when you get bounced from the playoffs saying the other team cheated. You probably think if everything was fair across the board the Yankees would win every year. Grow up
Cora cheated when he was in Houston and when he came to Boston😡👎 They only suspended him and Hinch for only 1 year for cheating in Houston when they both should have been banned😡 If it were the Yankees in the same situation you best believe they have Cashman and Boone banned from baseball😡
An unopened envelope in Rob Manfred’s office dated 2017 says otherwise. Yankees invented the trash can system with Carlos Beltran on their team, AND illegally used Apple Watch technology to steal signs in real time. Funny how you always accuse Toronto of cheating when you lose to them. Toronto never had a bookie ump on the take who was convicted of match fixing like the Skankees did in Rich Garcia (arrested 2003, convicted 2004). Thank Garcia for those World Series rings from 1998-2000. He umped those series and blatantly fixed them for the Noo Yawk mafia. Public Knowledge and court records prove everything I’ve stated here about Garcia.
Really? One of the WORST ever?? LOL the Red Sox will have all winter to whine about it since they are 12 games back and there’s nothing anyone can do about it but whine.
Cole was crazy for giving Devers the intentional pass. Changed the entire trajectory of the game w that 4 finger salute. Retaliation should be against a rookie not the MVP. Yanks going deep!
They are trying to take the self policing out of the game which disproportionately effects the batters. I believe Merrifield just talked about this as well. There needs to be a way to punish pitchers who hit batters, intentionally or unintentionally. Pitchers are no longer are stepping in the box so they can throw as hard and as wild as they want with no chances of repercussions. If the other pitcher hits a guy back they are suspended. If a player charges the mound they get suspended. There needs to be a level of self policing in the game that has always been there. If you hit a teams best player expect the other team to do the same so it discourages it from happening again. If someone intentionally throws at someone the batter should be able to retaliate like how it always was. It again discourages it from happening in the first place.
Wish the Red Sox Would’ve never rehired that clown, he sucks he would start a single a lefty against a righty than a power hitter. Oh gotta have a lefty up! He had no idea what he is doing
The ball broke into Devers' hip; Devers scooted down to first, no Qs asked. Didn't even look up. That Cole was immediately exasperated doesn't add anything to the intrigue. Case closed.
For real. He very clearly doesn’t want to face him. To me that means he’s going to throw risky pitches out of the zone to try and trick him. He did that, failed, and decided to walk him intentionally. Cora really seemed like a dolt in this situation.
Cole even admitted before the game the one that gives him the most problems is Devers then the first time he bats Cole hits him. Then the next time he intentionally walks him. Then when he can't walk him Devers gets a hit. That pitch was an intentional one and you can hide you head in the sand all you want but he did it on purpose.😊
It's actually very simple. Cole was trash that game and accidentally hit Devers. The Sox are becoming irrelevant and their manager decide to start some dumb drama and retaliate. Seethe more Sox fans, enjoy the end to your short season.
