- Опубліковано 24 сер 2016
- In this video I show you how to lock and protect the Header and Footer sections in a Microsoft Word document so that no one can edit or remove them in any way at all, while still allowing them to edit the main part of the document itself.
loved this video super easy to to understand and you got straight to the point ! thank you !
Very helpful and clear. Thank you.
excellent tutorial
Glad you liked it
Very helpful and well done tutorial.
In the protected file, the protected sections are highlighted in Yellow color once they are saved. If we need to remove that highlight, what needs to be done? I tried de-selecting the "Highlight the regions I can edit" option, however it does not get saved. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much to tell me this method
Thank you.
Really really helpful and damn good explanation, thanks a ton!!
Extremely Helpful!
VERY helpful. Thank you. Microsoft needs to update their documentation. They only have for 2002 and 2003 versions of MS Word. Thanks again!
Thanks for the Help. I was battling to find an answer for one of my clients.
thanks a mil
Thank you , very useful video.
Great help!!!! Thank you so much!!!
Still useful info 2 years later thanks
Thanks for your help!!! this was really useful
I'm so glad it helped!
This is great! Except I noticed that when you do this the styles and formatting remain on, but every time I try it it disables styles and formatting. I really need these to remain on for the users. Do you know why this might be happening? I'm using Word for Office 365. TIA!
Hey 👋 brother this is very much helpful in 2020 also............thank a lot...❤️
And how to lock header and footer from copying and pasting it to other document with copied text content?
This was incredibly helpful. Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Great stuff! Thank you. However, the brackets and yellow background keep coming up when I re-open the document, despite shutting them off and re-saving. How can I forever shut them off so that the document looks normal when it is re-opened?
I also need answer for this question
I also need to know this.
go to the edited file, next to it in the right there is a panel, uncheck the show highlighted editable part
it was helpful for me as an developer
Thank you!!! This helped me a lot :)
Thank you very much!!
Very helpful
thanks
Very glad you found it useful! Don't forget to like, share and subscribe if you haven't already! ;-)
Hi there, Copy logo is anyways possible, it only protects written stuff but protection doesn't work on logo which is such crucial part and mitigates all efforts of protect it.
Great info! However, if I do not want someone to edit the body text AS WELL AND HEADER & FOOTER... Can I prevent that - other than PDF-ing it?? Can I make it a READ ONLY NO EDIT??
thanks for the help!!
Hi A very usefull tutorial - thank you for this. Question. If I want to stop users from deleting or using specific lines in a Letter document ie the blank lines before and afterr the address block, how do I lock mulitple sections down - by inserting more section breaks and repeating the process? Thanks again. Ken
Great! Thanks for your help. :)
You're very welcome
I have a question and it's a situation where I have a multi-page document that requires only some pages to be restricted while other pages need to be editable. I can get that to work no problem. I did like you and highlighted the content of the pages to edit. The issue is that the headers and footers must remain editable too. I don't want them locked. I've tried using this same method and I'm successful with restricting and allowing the pages but the headers and footers are locked because I'm not able to highlight them too at the same time along with the pages.
I can't get them to be editable as they are following the restricted settings that are set because they didn't get highlighted. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
I do I lock the whole document, except for the places where they need to fill in details? Thanks
It was very helpful. please let me know how to unlock the header?
Nice fixed my problem.
brill thank you!!
How do you make the header/footer protected AND unable to be copied?? (ie right click on the image in the header and click copy appears to let the user copy the protected header and then do what ever with it.)
Great video, thanks mate
You're very welcome.
Sir how to lock header and footer in Excel sheet???
Useful
Good help, thanks, but How do you lock the logo in the header from being copied and pasted elsewhere? When I click on the logo in the header in the locked document, all other actions are grayed out except 'copy'.
Have read all the comments. Cannot remove the 'Highlighted Text'. It is removed if I untick the box but returns when the document reopens even if I save as a different document. Help please.
Hi there,
thank you for this tutorial! Brilliant! Hope you can tell me how to be able to lock the position of a text but that the text is still changeable. I am working on a template that needs to stay in format however, many teachers will translate the document in different languages. So the format always needs to stay the same: font size, font, position of pictures AND position of the text.
Do I work best with inserting a text field and fix its position? Or should I create a form?
I would really appreciate your input.
Thanks a million!!!
Hello Nina, I'm so sorry I have only just managed to get round to replying to comments. If this is still something you need help with then do please email me. I suspect the best solution will probably be a VBA macro linked to a form.
Great video, thank you!How can I permanently remove the yellow mark from the unlocked section? (I know this will not be printed out, but anyway) I was able change this, but if I save and reopen the document, the unlocked part is marked again in yellow.Thank you in advance
Uncheck the highlight the region I can edit
How fkin hard is it for MS to code in a function to only lock header and/or footer? after so many years? Unbelievable
Hi, I'm trying to lock a footer image for a template document, but I'm using Word 2011 for Mac and can't find the equivalent for the File > Protect Document option. I have a Tool > Protect Document option, but it displays different functions.
Before I waste more time trying, can you tell me whether it's possible to lock headers and footers with my Word version and, if so, how do I do it? Eternally grateful...
Does not putting continous section break make any difference ? if yes what ?
How do I remove the highlight color after protecting the document?
Any way to do this on Mac?
Thank you, but I noticed that the logo can be copied and pasted elsewhere. Is there a way I can ensure that the logo cannot be moved, deleted or copied?
Not if you keep it as a Word document. Perhaps a PDF?
@@TheTechTrain I"ll try saving as a PDF. But as a Word document, the logo can be copied and pasted. I was hoping to keep the document as a Word document so it's easy to fill in.
How do you get rid of the yellow line at the top of the document after it is locked?
Good man yourself
,,,i am sorry but i think it does not work on my microsoft 365...i am trying to lock my header and footer but after i finished with the process as you did, i can no longer edit my content...please
is that step also lock the footer?
Yes it does.
how to make the header part background image look original color not faded
I'm afraid that the colour fade effect for the header is a built-in feature of Microsoft Word, and not something that can be changed. The only option really would be to use a bright colour for the header, then an equivalently faded shade for the main document.
Hello how can I protect a picture from download in word 2010? thanks for answers
Does anyone know how to do this on Mac. Can't seem to find the same options.. any help would be appreciated :)
You can see the Protect options in Review slide.... 👍🏻
I did that and forgot the password
What is the solution
How would you do this in a google doc (through Goggle mydrive)
I'm not sure Google Docs offers this kind of option I'm afraid.
after i made a header for my file i saved it and after that i went to look back at it and the header was gone and it made everything on my screen look different
When you say you made a header and saved it, I take it that the header was visible at that point?
do i need to share password with them?
Hi,
How can I only lock the margins in the header(s) and the footers(s)?
I need this for special file merges.
Thanx for a reaction.
Regards,
Anne
